How can I make a shuriken with the maximum possible durability? I've discovered you can use them to make your wolves chase a mob. Also, how do you craft reinforcement plates?

I would say use a diamond, add obsidian large plates for reinforced, make some of its parts of obsidian for even more reinforced, make sure one piece is wood for ecological, which regens durability over time, and then stack an emerald for even more durability. Dunno if there's any more durability increasing modifiers/traits.

I suggest you get JEI. It will show you all the recipes in the game.
As for the shurikens reinforcing thing, why not test it yourself?
Before you post something on the Tinkers' Construct thread... please read this.
If you have a crash log, READ it before posting it (and if you do, use spoilers). Some stuff should be obvious to where it comes from. Try reproducing the same thing with only Tinkers' Construct or Mantle on vanilla Forge (please do make sure that you're using the latest TiC and Mantle versions). If it still does happen, report it to the issue tracker (Yes, you have to sign up... but it's not that hard).
Last but not least, please do not ask for unsupported versions (1.7.10, 1.8.9) or ask for non-existent ones (1.8)!
NEI in 1.10.x requires JEI to work. NEI lost its dev and JEI picked it up.

Turns out Duritae only takes away extra durability and never adds any. Never make obsidian shuriken. Also, the reinforcement plates don't work.
Weird, then try making one piece wood and the rest iron, with a diamond and emerald to cap it off. Ecological should keep the durability topped off every now and then.

Firstly, zeroonezeroonezerooneone is right. It seems like the duritae has a chance to not use durability or a chance to use more durability. It's not really worth it.
However, reinforced does work. I was able to throw up to 5 shuriken in a row on a reinforced 3 shuriken without using up ammo.
As for what to make it with, green slime has the highest durability, a 100% green slime shuriken having a durability over 100(without modifiers!). Next in like for durability is blue slime, then mannyullen, then maga slime.
So a maximum possible durability shuriken would be a green slime one with a diamond and emerald. You can add reinforced or mending moss for the last modifier for extra durability as well.
However, it's effectiveness is debatable as slime has a weak attack.
I'd recommend having two blades out of slime and two blades out of a high-damage marital, then add a diamond, emerald, and a reinforced plate.
Or, if you happen to be going on a really extended trip, changing the plate for mending moss and/or switching one of the blades for wood could work too. Note that wood would be for a *really* extended trip as 'ecological''s regeneration is quite slow.

I don't care about damage because this shuriken is for marking animals for my dogs to kill. But I already tried reinforcing my shuriken and it doesn't work. I'm using 1.10, does that make a difference?
I'm using the latest version(for 1.10) and for me, reinforced works fine. If you're unluckly and/or using a low level of reinforced, you just be missing it. It is the one you get using casts crafted with 8 obsidian, right?
The best way to check is to throw a few shuriken against the wall then pick them back up over and over.
For example, how I checked was by going into creative, getting a shuriken with reinforced 3, switching to survival, then throwing five shuriken and picking them back up over and over.
If reinforced didn't activate, the shuriken would have full durability after I picked up the shuriken.
If it did activate, the shuriken would have full durability, and there'd be some shuriken still stuck to the ground.
The amount if shuriken left on the wall would be the amount of times reinforced worked.
Edit: If it's for giving your dogs a target and not actual fighting, I'd say 3 slime blades, 1 wood blade, a diamond, emerald, and reinforced will be the best.
Yeah, it seems like another mod includes an outdated TConstruct API that is loaded instead of the one in Reliquary.
Or... his TConstruct version is outdated by itself? @Tetsune, could you see if his versions match yours?
I use Curse's client, so the latest versions updated there (Tconstruct-1.10.2-2.5.2) and the latest version of Mantle as well (Mantle-1.10.2-1.0.0), which match up with his (though his are Jenkins builds)
Latest version of Reliquary is also 1.2.2.571, and his version (1.3.2.434) is outdated. That may be the issue then.

Probably has to do with the combination of TCon + Reliquary + the other TCon support mods they have? That's what I meant.
Because it seems that just TCon and Reliquary are fine on their own together, so the problem may be with the addition of either TinkerIO or Tinkers' Addon

I'm using the latest version(for 1.10) and for me, reinforced works fine. If you're unluckly and/or using a low level of reinforced, you just be missing it. It is the one you get using casts crafted with 8 obsidian, right?
The best way to check is to throw a few shuriken against the wall then pick them back up over and over.
For example, how I checked was by going into creative, getting a shuriken with reinforced 3, switching to survival, then throwing five shuriken and picking them back up over and over.
If reinforced didn't activate, the shuriken would have full durability after I picked up the shuriken.
If it did activate, the shuriken would have full durability, and there'd be some shuriken still stuck to the ground.
The amount if shuriken left on the wall would be the amount of times reinforced worked.
Edit: If it's for giving your dogs a target and not actual fighting, I'd say 3 slime blades, 1 wood blade, a diamond, emerald, and reinforced will be the best.
I use Curse's client, so the latest versions updated there (Tconstruct-1.10.2-2.5.2) and the latest version of Mantle as well (Mantle-1.10.2-1.0.0), which match up with his (though his are Jenkins builds)
Latest version of Reliquary is also 1.2.2.571, and his version (1.3.2.434) is outdated. That may be the issue then.
