So in the world I have, I have a AE system that is connected to a drawer controller and a few compacting drawers. I've been meaning to put any items that I get in high amounts (such as the sand I mentioned last time), into them to save drive space. I'm trying to do the same with cobble, and it works just fine with the exception of one thing: if I have a Drawer with with Cobble, 1x and x2 Compressed Cobble, and have another one with x2, x3 and x4, they don't share the x2 cobble inventory inside the system, so it makes it so if I put a x3 in the system it'll only transform into x2 and not in the more decompressed forms, and vice-versa. So my question is if there is a way to solve this little issue I have.
If there isn't, I would like to request/suggest a feature. This feature would be that any drawers that have the same controller would share their items with eachother if they have the same item. For example, in the situation I mentioned above, the drawer with the Cobble, x1, x2 would share its x2 cobble with the one that has x2,x3,x4 cobble, which means anytime that I put x2 into one, the other one would also get the same amount, and anytime I remove x2 from one the other one would get cobble removed as well. They would also need to have the same exact upgrades inside them.
Not really sure if that is possible, but I really hope it is.
P.S.: I'm not really sure how clear my example was, so if you didn't quite understand let me know that I'll try to explain it once more.
Your request is essentially the Jabba B-Space upgrade with limited range. It's probably not going to be added. It's not quite what you're looking for anyway, because the top-tier drawer in one block has much different capacity than the bottom-tier drawer in another. You couldn't get them to overlay cleanly. What you're really looking for in this case is a concept of extending compacting drawers in a way that goes deeper than just chaining them. It's kind of tricky to consider. I don't have a good idea at the moment.

I understand. Well, hopefully sometime you'll change your mind and get a better idea of the feature and all. Thank you so much anyways!
EDIT: I have some other ideas for how that idea I gave you could work somehow (not exactly having shared invertory in most of them, but a bigger one), if you want I can post them up, just give me a heads up.
Hey you've probably answered this before, but do you plan on adding your own drawer moving device?
I know your drawers support the JABBA dolly, but lately I've been in situations where I just have storage drawers and no JABBA. Having your own tool for this would be good I think, just for the sake of being to move drawers when storage drawers is standalone.
Reminds me of Thermal Expansion's Strongboxes. They keep their inventory when broken, regardless of tool, though you can break them instantly using shift+right-click with a wrench. The inventory tooltip even shows the contents of the strongbox.
I used to use them as ghetto backpacks. Ahh, those were the days...
What if drawers didn't spill their contents when broken? Or broken with some tool?
That would be cool.
I would prefer using a tool to do that though, as sometimes I like to just break drawers to empty them.
How would you move a dresser full of drawers IRL without emptying them?
You can't just move a dresser otherwise the drawers will just fall out while you are moving them.
But what you CAN do is tape the drawers shut with masking tape! Kinda ghetto but it would work.
So how about you add a masking tape item that "encases" the drawers upon right clicking, and you can pick up and move the encased drawer wherever you want. The tape would dissolve when you set it down because it's cheap. lol

I like the tape idea! Perhaps when you have a taped one in your inventory it could also apply some debuffs as though you're moving it, like the JABBA dolly does?

I like these ideas especially since I doubt we will see JABBA in 1.8. In fact if ProfMobius directs ANY time towards 1.8, it needs to be on WAILA.
The wrench thing is pretty common and user friendly. I would just add the ability to the key like you are locking the drawer closed, speed debuffs help it be less OP. I really like the tape idea though. It costs more since it just dissolves, and still makes sense with some speed debuff. But I suppose a double whammy doesn't really contribute to the fun factor for some. Config file section then?
Last, thanks for such an awesome mod. It really helps with the insane amount of late game stuff collection for us hoarders especially since the switch to 25 block cube. (That was gloriously OP)

And this reminds me of Mekanism's Cardboard Box. It can be used to pack up any block including its TileEntity, but it has some weirdness: You can put an Aura Node in a box and it will have its aspects rerolled when you unbox it. Also, the empty box has the same block ID as a box with an item in it, so when you're boxing up a whole lot of blocks, and the stack of boxes in your hotbar runs out, Inventory Tweaks will fill the slot with filled boxes instead of empty boxes. Also, the boxes are reusable so there's all kinds of confusion when ITweaks keeps putting empty boxes in your hotbar when you want full ones and vice versa.
A single-use item that's just for packing up a drawer sounds like a great idea and wouldn't have any of those problems.
I like the tape idea. A roll of tape could have a durability on it to get a few uses out of it, but it wouldn't have any of the ambiguity of boxes. I think the tape concept would also discourage requests for compatibility with other inventories.

You know, I was just coming here to see if anyone had a solution to this problem (playing AgSkies 2). So that sucks that there is no solution....however I do have an idea: expand the drawer. Have an upgraded drawer that has 9 slots of compression, rather than the 3 it normally does. Problem solved. Of course, this is a completely useless block outside of this one other mod, so it's probably not worth doing. The other idea would have been a m-m-m-m-multiblock (...sorry....), where you have a tool that combines two compacting drawers together (or three) and they share their compression. Again though, this is completely useless outside of ExU. I can't think of another item that uses more than three compression layers (it's always ingot, nugget, block as the three).
EDIT: Oh, and yeah, it would be nice to have a way to toggle between compression methods in game. Meaning, you can switch between things that have two different compression methods, the primary example being sandstone and compressed sand. Autopackager has this, you can toggle which recipe it looks for first, the 2x2 or 3x3.
Hey guys, I got a problem using the Compacting drawer.
I does seem to ignore oredict for me (http://imgur.com/a/dtWws) I have about 10 ingot types of different materials, and it only converts them to nuggets or blocks if the same mod adds them. I also can't put IC2 Copper in a drawer if it contains TiCon copper. (goes for any type of copper, tin etc.)
I saw earlier in this thread the minetweaker method to add conversions, does this mean I have to add a line for every ingot to every block and nugget? Or is there something wrong in my instance?
Incase you wonder, I'm playing on infinity with all mods updated to current version and several mods added on top of that.
Hey again. I have another request/question.

You can use the dolly from JABBA to move the drawers.
The idea was a way built-in to Storage Drawers to do so, as there's no guarantee that JABBA will be installed.

Where is recipe of Full-size 1x1?
three planks
chest in middle
three planks on bottom

There's an open issue on this (https://github.com/jaquadro/StorageDrawers/issues/123#issuecomment-125023606). If you check the bug, Ziggy114 created a set of MT scripts to work around some of the problems. His set doesn't include IC2 so they might need some adjusting.
I still need to figure out how much of this I can fix internally, even if that means selectively populating my whitelists.

Optifine breaks both of my main mods visually. I don't know any workaround, and I have no idea what optifine is actually doing to the render pipeline.

Any idea when we might get that tape for moving the drawers? It's something I find myself wanting more and more as I get into mid-late game.
1.7.10 btw
Current Mod: Armerger | Light Drafter
I use both Garden Stuff and Storage Drawers with Optifine and have no rendering issues.
JABBA hand trucks work great for moving storage drawers.
