Pay no attention to sawtooth44, they like to shoot down ideas, I got the exact same response from them when I suggested parts for machine/robot based personas a while back.
If you know how to use Techne/Tabula (I recommend Tabula) then that's basically it Ensure the rotation points are correct then just render it. The entire code is open source (and a bit of a mess) but you can view it all on GitHub. I'll happily accept PR's for new tails and parts and can work with you on getting it implemented (heck if you can do the model and texture, I can do everything else).
At least two of us have settled our differences, and someone else just hit my ignore list.
When I mentioned 3D editors, it was just cost I was concerned about, but also usability, for example Blender is free but it has the learning curve of a brick wall (I have a copy of it on an external hard drive in my Portable Apps collection and can't do a thing with it).
I'm still doing some research on Techne, but once I figure it out, I may put some prototype parts up. I'm not much of a modeler and worse with custom textures, but when I do have something up, they will have detailed descriptions to help with conversions or clean up.
This is supposed to be a community driven mod, and it should stay that way, people should be trying to help each other with ideas or projects, not slamming doors on everything.
(On a side note, anyone know of other 3D editors for Minecraft, preferably ones that work offline, since the only time I have an internet connection is on heavily firewalled and web filtered public networks)
I only know of 2 programs / mods that can give you models for Minecraft, Techne, and Tabula.
Now in my opinion Tabula is a Techne clone, however it's a mod instead of a separate program, made by iChun and allows people to use a techne styled modeller, works the same. I personally prefer to use Techne, which btw is an offline program, you just have to run it the once for it to download, install, etc. but you can use it offline, it will just attempt to get requirements online, and if it fails, it just starts it up anyways, at least, that's what it does for me.
Also, in my opinion, Techne is one of the easiest and most productive programs to use for Minecraft, add to it that it actually gives Minecraft-esqe models. If you do use it, just create new project and select ModelBiped instead of ModelBase, this way you can model directly onto the players model so you can see what its like, after that, you can just learn how to do the rest or "maybe" leave it up to someone else.
Last note, there are, or should, be plenty of video's on youtube on how to use Techne. Also, if you honestly can't get it to work, then go for Tabula.

I would like to suggest the addition of muzzles, like the ones MorePlayerModels has. I can probably make the models if you need me to, but since I'm unfamiliar with modelling software, someone else could probably do it way faster, especially since they would just be rectangular prisms. I'd think give them 3 colors: top half, bottom half, and nose.
(That's using MPM; I don't use that mod anymore for compatibility reasons.)
Also perhaps add an option to hide the hat/hair layer so I can have just one skin that will work whether the mod is installed or not? 'Cause at the moment I have to keep switching between the "earless" version and the normal version for vanilla MC.

Hey all,
Sorry for my absence! Mixture of work, college, personal projects (working on my own game and took part in Ludum Dare!) and a dab of depression.
What I'm currently working on is implementing a shark tail provided to me by the wonderful access_denied_
I also have the dragon wings textures from Dracyoshi to implement too
I have a few ideas for things to add to the mod, including possibly muzzles and horns. In fact, I have an old ram horns model lying around I can add...
I am going to dedicate more time back into this though and add a bunch more stuff
If you do want to help contribute, textures and models do help a lot! I'll happily add credit within the mod itself too.
I recommend using Tabula to create models. If you just want to create wing textures, they are simply a texture, no model. You can look in the assets folder in the zip to see how they are done.

Understandable, I know college can be a pain, along with work and other things hitting at once. I have been through college myself, with a weekend job on top of that. It was hard to keep up appearances online during those times.
I'm currently experimenting with Techne for possible models and I have my first prototype antennas in progress, the model was straight forward and good for getting the basics of the program, I still need to figure out the texturing side though. Any good tips or places to find tutorials on Techne would be gladly appreciated.
M8 doust thou evn read all da things?

That's what I always assume when a modder disappears for a while.

Hmm don't really have any good tutorials I'm afraid
For the textures, there should be an export or save as texture option which will export the texturemap. You can then re-import it (I know, its weird)
