Must I explain physics ... "Alright its rather simple .,. make a contain block that mutes all ambiance, weather, friendly npcs, jukebox and player sfx if heard from the opposite side when side noise is on other side. Done! I have seen far more complex fixes migueeel don't tell me it can't be done. I would do it myself if I knew Java. I work in HTML5 and C++"
Eh, but sound fixes?
The problem is with the sounds in minecraft. I know nothing about java but I bet that making a block that detects sounds from X direction... Maybe a whole structure would make sense (a 3x3x3) as it could check noise from the sides... but how do you silence the sound for X player?
Maybe, more easily, a item or something that makes hte player not hear the records music :3

Love the mod, is there a way to have music repeat endlessly though, I was thinking of using this mod on a server me and a few friends have setup to play music in home and stores.
Edit: Nvm, I feel stupid now, just noticed there's a recipe to do this, awesome mod.
Never had any problems with the repeat recipe myself, though I do have to agree about it being a bit buggy (when the records repeat they essentially have an infinite range). I actually like it this way, as the only reason I have records on repeat is for ambiance. With the bug I can cheap out on speakers and wire!
Issue with itemPhysics mod: record-entity spin animation broken. Can you figure it out?
Probably because of how I render the record in the player. It uses an item entity with a specified rotation to render it. So, no. Fixing that would take longer than it's worth.

Finally, what ive been looking for since the mod "Sounds Cool" hasnt been updated for some time and doesnt have the same features. But there is a problem though: The Record Player doesnt like to be opened in some circumstances or places/directions. I have to place it at specific points for it to open and close on Shift-Right click.
Edit: Actually even at the same position it sometimes just randomly refuses to open up its lock so i cannot put in a disc or take one out, very annoying

Use the Muffler block from Extra Utilites. Does alot of muffling to simple things.

Hmm... Could you explain a bit more in-depth? I'm unable to reproduce the issue...

Well i found a fix: Simply keep the lid open instead of locking it.
However it might be one of the mods i got installed that does this, but simply said its just that the Record Player wont open its lid when its closed sometimes, like lets say its into a wall or just anywhere, randomly it decides not to open or close the lid when i Shift-Right click it. But its ok, i just dont close it, ok to
Edit: Would it be possible for you to make the Lasers, Strobe Lights and Speakers able to be wall mounted? It would look much cleaner, and maybe a way to change the looks (wood) to any other block one might wish (maybe a painter tool). Also speakers that can face downwards, since i notice that outwards the music plays well, however if im underground the music seems to be very muted there, i have 26 Large Speakers hooked up (and 48 Lasers (muhahahaha....)), but the music still is very quiet underground. But thanks for the mod still, kinda what ive been looking for.
Edit 2: Oh and btw, the loop function doesnt work (redstone). Maybe you can put in a little UI in the Record Player where you got to put in the disc, then got 3 buttons: Loop, Play, Pause or if you have a Multirecord Disc, a Next and Previous button
I'm having problems with the record player too! If I close it, it won't open anymore D:
What's this, Stumblinbear? You trying to steal my Led Zeppelin!?

It may have to do with Forge. Not sure. I'll look into it a bit more.
It happens to me after I play a record. Then I have to berak the block and place it somewhere else D:
maybe disable the open/close feature for a while?
Two smallish suggestions for a potential next update if you're keen on hearing them- firstly can you look into making the records compatible with NEI, such that I can look up the recipe while playing? All other items from your mod work fine, but the records produce no NEI recipe and yet can still be crafted- it's a minor issue, but new players on my server have a tough time figuring out what's wrong with them because they assume the mod is broken.
Also, any chance you could add a config option to make your records re-writable? Or even better, allow records that spit out an "Error: Could not read file." to specifically be allowed overwriting by default? Whenever a player on my server goes through the effort of making a blank Better Records mod with the Ender Eye recipe, they get frustrated when they end up making a messed up record because of issues with the mp3 or ogg file not reading properly.

That. Is actually a pretty good idea. Also, I was unaware of records not showing in NEI: I'll look into the api.
Until someone ports this legendary mod I am leaving the minecraft scene. http://www.cosc.canterbury.ac.nz/greg.ewing/minecraft/mods/ArchitectureCraft/#mozTocId598776 I have watched too many legendary mods die and carpenters blocks sudden fallout out of mainstream made me cry. I realize the source is messy but some of the best mods from 1.6.4 and 1.7.10 were.

And... Is there any way to etch music from local storage? Something like "file:///path/to/music/folder/some_song.mp3".

Actually, due to how I play the records, I don't think the muffler block would work.
