Yeah, seems there are some problems with 1.8, there are 2 issues on GitHub which are very similar to yours. I'll do my best to check it out soon, but I'm really busy nowadays, and I can't promise an ETA on the fix.
I suspect something changed in either Forge or Optifine which breaks BF. Which versions are you using of those? Also, you could help me a lot by checking if the problem still happens with older versions, narrowing it down for me.
/i think you were talking to me, but im using latest optifine and latest forge
The most obvious solution that comes to mind is to make logs "connect" to doors, i.e. not round the corners facing the door block. And that's still not enough, since there are lots of mods that add doors... maybe another configurable blocklist? We'll see.
@CaerMaster:
I don't have any good ideas how to make different chamfer radii play nicely together. I can't really do very extensive checks on the surroundings, as that would be very expensive in terms of speed - round logs are already hard on the hardware as it is. Only simple rules are feasible which depend only on the 26 neighbors of a block.
Elbow logs are most likely not coming, and I've pretty much given up on making round logs render correctly with neighboring fluid blocks.
Being able to chamfer log blocks on a case-by-case basis is unfortunately not possible at all. For that to work I would have to add blocks, items and/or some extra block information to the world. That would in turn break the client-only-ness (yeah, that's a word now) of the mod, and I don't want that.
@jochuan:
I didn't know Mo Creatures had logs. Sure. I'll add them.

Yup, that's about how I thought the situation was. I wasn't trying to suggest that you should do any of the things I mused over, I was just kind of pondering the challenges involved in doing anything more than a one-size-mostly-fits-all. I'm not sure this has a complete solution other than completely manual even in a server-and-client mod, and in a client-side-only one ... yeah, it'd be nuts.
Could you do the same for Terrafirmacraft logs, if the rotation issue I reported before is fixed (vertical logs being rounded as if they were horizontal logs)?
Version 1.8-1.1.4 - Has All problems as version 1.1.5 (Listed Above) )still has problems whether optifine is installed latest version for 1.8) or not.
Version 1.8-1.1.3 - Snowy Leaves Work nether rack vines don't, round logs still invisible, log textures don't connect, connected grass doesn't work. (still has problems with or without optifine (latest version))
Version 1.8-1.1.2 - Snowy Leaves Work, (i really have no idea what these nether rack vines are... are they suppose to add hanging root things hanging from the bottom of nether rack?(Found out Yes, thats what its suppose to do.) if so, it doesn't work) connected grass doesn't work, connected logs don't work, still invisible logs, (still has problems with or without optifine (latest version))
Version 1.8-1.1.1- Nether rack Vines Work :D, connected grass doesn't work, better leaves do not work, which means snowy leaves also don't work, logs still invisible, connected logs don't work. (still has problems with or without optifine (latest version))
Version 1.8-1.1.0 - Nether rack vines work, better leaves don't work, snowy leaves don't work, rounded logs don't work (upon checking config (F8 button) better logs didn't even exist), which means connected grass doesn't exist, which means connected logs don't exist, and finally invisible logs don't exist. (still has problems with or without optifine (latest version))

Nothing in my game settings has changed since last launch but suddenly everything looks like this: https://imgur.com/a/AJAG0
I tried toggling some settings like AA in forge and restarting and nothing has fixed it.. I did not update forge or change anything from the last time I played...
Running 1.8 with Optifine and some minor unrelated non-visual mods like inventory tweaks
Try removing Optifine first and see what happens. It might be a bug related to it, as there have been issues between the two mods occasionally.

For those who don't mind a bit of reading, I've been writing mod examinations on Hubpages under the name Cliffwalker. So far I've done full articles for several mods, including the likes of Witchery,Enviromine,andLycanite's Mobs, and I have also written a few multi-mod articles to help those who wish to find upgrades for a specific aspect of their game, such as the Nether.
You have to make this compatible with optifine. This mod is extremely laggy without it. When I have optifine installed, the textures in this mod smear out. Until this mod is compatible with optifine I will choose optifine over this mod, as I like the connected textures.

You have to turn off Anisotropic Filtering in Optifine, and it'll be fine. I don't know why that breaks everything, but it does.

This mod, alongside Optifine is now one of my must haves when playing Minecraft! Awesome Job!!!
If you are still taking suggestions, any chance we could get a waterfall particle effect? Maybe something along the lines of the original coros weather mod?

@MisterQuiggly:
I checked this out with no luck. Versions were BF 1.1.5, Optifine U D3 and Forge 1450. No rendering issues at all, everything looked fine.
However I keep getting the dreaded "OpenGL error code 8" problem that happens to some nVidia users, which makes it very hard to do anything
Can you post your full mod list? Also, what kind of GPU are you on?
BetterFoliage (1.7.10, 1.8, 1.8.8, 1.8.9, 1.9, 1.9.4, 1.10) - Leafier leaves and grassier grass

Optifine 1.8 HD U D3
Forge 11.14.3.1450
Better Foliage
Baby Animals Model Swapper (Still has problems with or without this mod)
Not quite sure what GPU is :/ so i just looked up "windows 7 how to find out what my gpu is" and by following what it says it leads me to:
Intel(R) HD Graphics Family
my computer isnt a gaming computer i mean i get 50-60 fps but idk, its just a normal computer

Oh, thanks! I guess anisotropic filtering does mess with textures...
when do you think the next update for 1.8 will come out?
And, for the record, Antialiasing also has to be off.
Is there any reason the latest 1.8 version (1.1.5) isn't rendering logs at all? Thanks!
Edit: Ah, it seems to be issue 25 ( https://github.com/octarine-noise/BetterFoliage/issues/25 )

Um, turning off anisotropic filtering did not work. It's off by default. Everything is still all plump. I'm using OptiFine 1.8.0 HD U D3.
Does it have something to do with mipmap? If so, I am not turning that off. It'll make my eyes hurt without it.
Is there a way to fix this?
Is it possible to fix? Conflict wit OlympiaCore.
