THREAD IMAGES NOTE:
I don't really know how to post images of this mod in action and I don't have a screen recorder to take a video. If someone would make a video of it working or not working, I'd like to post it for those people that won't download from threads without images/videos.
About the Mod
This mod was created by request from this mod request here at Minecraft Forums. I took on the project as a learning experience in order to better understand player data, channels, and packets within Minecraft.
So, what does it do? Well it's similar to the Keep Inventory on Death Mod by Glider521al because it saves the players inventory when they die. However, this mod doesn't keep all of the inventory.
Currently, when a player dies this mod:
Chooses one random Weapon (All vanilla weapons + all mod items that extend ItemSword or ItemBow)
Chooses one random Armor (All vanilla armor + all mod items that extend ItemArmor)
Chooses one random Tool (All vanilla tools + all mod items that extend ItemTool)
Chooses two random remaining inventory items (This portion checks the entire inventory, minus the items already set to be given back to the player, for two random ItemStacks. This can include weapons, tools or armor especially if the player is only holding those types of items.)
All other items in the player's inventory will be dropped on the ground as in vanilla Minecraft for the player to retrieve or to hear sizzle away in the magma sauce.
Player Strategy with this Mod Installed:
Players carrying high quality items should carry as little as possible in order to increase their chances of keeping these items.

My wife and I have just found out that she had a cancerous brain tumor. It was removed and we hope for a great recovery. However, the medical bills are piling up from MRI's to medications to radiation. So, if you can spare some coins for a US military veteran in college trying to provide for his family, I'd appreciate it. If not, I know times are tough and I still hope you enjoy the mod

Looks cool, loving the idea! What if you would use it together with the Gravestone mod? Would the rest of the items still go into the gravestone or drop on the floor?
I can take no credit for the idea, but thanks for the props. I learned a lot coding it.
About the gravestone mod. I'm not sure when it interrupts the death process to store it's inventory data, but you could try and let us know. Weirdly enough, I've never used an inventory keeper before, but I do like the idea because it's frustrating losing all your items and not remembering where you were.

I just tested it on my server using NightKosh's gravetone mod and sadly it doesn't work It's like I haven't even installed this mod. (It does not "steal" items form the gravestone nor does it let you retrieve the ones that fall beside because the grave's full. The mod works perfectly when installed alone though.
I think I am having a glitch where when I start a world again without having died, it takes the inventory items it would have given to you and they disappear. This theory is unconfirmed to be caused by your mod, but I still want you to check that. I have lost some valuable enchhanted items on special maps, and even my only crafting table, and my wood. Please look into it.
Welcome to another mod by Navybofus.
