I understand the Terrasteel wand caps are useless here, but can't we even craft any wands, staves or scepters with them just for the giggles?? Are they just REALLY useless, because i do see a 'terrasteel nerfed wooden wand' in the NEI menu. O.o
I tried with all wand core from sticks to silverwood, from livingwood to dreamwood. nothing works for me.

Well the vis discount (if you can even call it that) IS literally twice as bad as Iron Caps. 220%. So there really SHOULDNT be any way of wasting Terrasteel like that.
Edit: OR SHOULD THERE??? No, there still shouldn't. But there is another type of wood that could be used for a wand core: Shimmerwood. Yes, the wood that is literally a Bifrost Block and Dreamwood Planks. I just want a fabulous, rainbowy, mana-draining Thaumcraft wand, dang it! I think a small, cosmetic upgrade to a normal Dreamwood Wand Core would be suitable, possibly surrounding the core with Bifrost Panes in the arcane worktable and having a cost of about 20 of each primal to give it that glimmery goodness.
I don't really see the point of more caps/cores, unless they do something really special. For example, some mediocre caps, but they automatically drain nearby nodes. Or steal XP orbs and use them to recharge the wand instead of giving you actual XP. Or some caps which have a usage multiplier of 40% or so, but the resulting wand has only 1/4 of it's capacity.
Hm reminds me, some mod was planning to add one-way wands, aka, the wand comes precharged with about 50 aspects when you craft it, but it can't be recharged. With a rather cheap recipe, so that you can quickly craft a replacement wand when you died and need to get your stuff, or when you go somewhere where you will probably die. Was it this mod? If not, I hereby suggest this.
Oh lol, now I had the stupidest idea ever. Instead of just using plain old caps, combine them with tools, like an axe head or a sword blade

Thaumic Horizons adds Crystalline Wands. Crafted from Crystal Clusters and thrown into a stabilized vortex, they start out with 250 of each aspect, but can never be recharged.

So I'm having an issue with a few of the features of this mod not unlocking properly, shovel of the purifier specifically. I've completed the research for infusion and shovel of the earth mover and all that, but the option to get the notes for the shovel of the purifier hasn't appeared on the apocrypha tab. I should note that I spawned quite close to a tainted lands biome so I scanned tainted soil and crusted taint before I unlocked arcane infusion. Will that screw things up? I really want a shovel of the purifier but I seem to be stuck!

Shovel of the Purifier requires the Ethereal Bloom to be researched.
I was just thinking: all those wands and wand caps, maybe use them for something else than just wands? Like bows. A bow made from wand rods, with wand caps on it's end, which can be charged like a wand, and then use this charge to shoot magical energy at people. Maybe even arrows made out of wand components, for the extra portion of overpowered punch.
Another idea: some kind of an "anti-silverwood": a corrupted silverwood sapling, crafted by infusing a regular one with tainted fruit and stuff, grows to a large taint tree which occassionally contains a tainted node, instead of a pure one.
I'm not sure where bug reports are supposed to go, but I'm using the latest version (Forbidden Magic 0.572), and Tainthistles aren't producing any mana. They correctly eat any flux/taint/etc, but no mana gets added to my nearby linked mana spreader. I'm using the latest Botania r1.8-248, but it was doing the same thing with r1.8-244.

Last I checked, the amount is rather small, so it takes a while to notice any mana gain unless you build some sort of flux reactor setup. It's really more of a way to remove flux than a way to generate mana reliably (unless you really commit to it).

That's kind of what I have... it's not large, but I have a constant source of flux gas being made by several Fluxium flowers from Thaumic Bases surrounding the Tainthistle. I've linked the Tainthistle to a mana spreader that's pointed at the ground (which makes it so the mana buffer fills up instead of being fed into a mana pool). The area is chunkloaded, and I've had it running for about 2 days (real days, not minecraft days) now. The internal buffer in my mana spreader and my Tainthistle have not changed at all. It's definitely eating the flux, and it's definitely not generating any mana.

The last time I tried to make serious use of the Taintthistle(just one flower, too), this is the setup I had, an Extra Utilities cobblegen feeding into an Open Crate (later upgraded to multiple Crafty Crates) to drop compressed cobble at an absurd rate into the crucible, which was kept filled by the Thirsty Tank (Automagy). After a while, I would come back and manually empty the crucible of it's thousands of Terra and Perditio all at once, creating massive quantities of flux. Also later upgraded to automatically clearing the crucible after a certain threshold. This was actually my primary mana generation until I made a pair of Munchdews.

Wow that looks awesome. My setup is definitely not quite that big. The flowers I'm using (I have 8 of them) generate a flux gas approximately every 3-5 seconds, which my tainthistle promptly eats. I'm not trying to generate outrageous amounts of mana (end goal is to make an infinite cake farm using those bottled fire things from Thaumic Tinkerer and a bunch of kekimurus), but I would expect even minute amounts of mana to add up over time, which is why I have the whole thing chunkloaded. But in the 3 days that it's been running now, it hasn't added even a tiny bit of mana to the nearby mana spreader. Definitely seems like a bug.
Forbidden Magic v0.573 has been uploaded to CurseForge and will be approved shortly. Barring any catastrophic bugs, this will probably be the last update. The modding community has started moving onto 1.8 and I have no plans on doing a direct port of Forbidden Magic. If there is an update, it'll probably be a reboot in the form of "Forbidden Magic 2".
v0.573
- Change: Tainthistle mana generation is less erratic
- Change: Crystal Scribing Tools now use durability in Easy Research Mode
- Change: Collar of Pain and Ring of Nutrition can now use Botania's cosmetic overrides
- Addition: Sword of the Dragonslayer. Give your Draconic Armor wearing friends a special gift today.

Looks like a Knightly sword from the Twilight Forest, but I assume there must be a vanilla replacement. Not that people playing packs with Draconic Evolution in wouldn't have TF in too
I know it doesn't mean much, but thank you for everything you have done with forbidden magic. All the servers I have ran over the last 2 years have had two mods that always stayed the same. Thaumcraft and then forbidden magic. Everyone always enjoyed the slight twist you put on thaumcraft. If you do make a forbidden magic 2, I know we can't wait for it.

Terrasteel caps, finally! Now to bug him into adding bedrock caps...
If I'm rude to you, just tell me. Don't take it too personally. Well, unless you were being stupid. If you were, DO take it personally.
