'Overriding' vanilla blocks got a bit harder in Minecraft versions 1.7.x. If you installed this mod on an existing world then you will have to break existing cauldrons and place them back again in order to give them BetterVanilla's behavior.
I love this mod its great, its similar to diyo tweaks mod, which hasn't been updated since 1.6.4, but has some awesome stuff in it that would fit amazingly in this mod, all the source files are on github but i dont know how to code, you should check it out.
Do you want help with this mod cause i really wanna do a mod like this that enhances Vanilla MC and i was gonna do my own but i am willing to join forces if you want help.
You know, will the BetterVanilla Brewing station work with Brewcraft, and can you make the icons render 3D (If they have a model) if Gany's Surface is installed?

After doing some research it seems to be somethign that occasionally happens with 1.7.10. Because of the addition of "chicken jockies" i think its causing BetterVanillas Pluckable chickens to spawn practically non stop. I climbed up over the brow of a hill yesterday on my server and looked out over a sea of chickens. Literally hundreds of them all bunched up in a little area. They spawn everywhere. Deep underground, in the nether and by the hundreds.
I was going to try disabling them via the BetterVanilla Config. However im not sure what the actual mob name is. If i just put "pluckable chicken" in that list would it work to stop them from randomly spawning all over the world but still leave the ones that are already there?
Same here. I kill them, but they are spawning again and increasing their count.
UPD: Disabling pluckable chickens in the config file stops spawning. I enabled spawning again and chickens are not spawning. If they will, I'll try to add them to the mob filter.
lol well i would really like to be able to keep our chickens pluckable. The idea of being able to sheer chickens just makes sense and feathers are definitely useful. But we just cant have this many chickens spawning everywhere lol. I am worried its going to start lagging us really bad. What name would you put into the mob filter? Just "pluckable chicken"?
Try to disable chickens first, load the world, enable chickens and load the world again. Adding "Pluckable Chickens" to the filter disables all chickens - I tried to shoot 100 eggs and a chicken didn't spawn, when I tried to use summon egg, chicken was spawned and disappeared in a moment.
Today i came up on our community area and was lagging so bad i couldnt even move. Moved away from it and the lag cleared up immediately, moved back toward it and it was unplayable again. After about an hour of searching around the area looking at everything breaking blocks and trying to figure out waht could be causing such awful lag, one of my players suggested digging down a ways to see if maybe there was a cave underground where the chickens coudl be spawning. Sure enough after digging a while i found a small cavern that was literally FILLED with chickens. Reading the entities on the F3 menu it clocked me in at over 1200 entities. A little bit of flint and steal and a whole lot of lag later, it was safe to say we will never need to kill another chicken on our server lol
Well i disabled pluckable chickens, started the server, waited a little bit for it to stop spamming the console with skipping entity pluckable chicken and then logged in. When i logged in the lag was so bad it was literally unplayable. I stayed in and watched it spam the console for a while longer with skipping entity pluckable chicken, then re-enabled pluckable chickens and restarted the server again. Logging in after re-enabling them it seems there is no lag. However it definitely didnt rid of ALL the chickens on the server cuz there was still over that hill that i looked out over a sea of chickens .
I am hoping this works to stop them from spawning so quickly and in such large quanities that it causes that kind of lag again, but i fear i may just need to disable them completely. Too bad cuz pluckable chickens were a great idea. Cant say we will be needing feathers any time soon through after massacring so many of them today
Update: Yept they just started spawning by the hundreds all over again. I figured it was time to just disable them... Yeah no... Disabling the pluckable chickens was good for a few min. Flew around and watched the console spam skipping entity for quite a while. Then i got disconnected with a fatal error has occurred, connection terminated. I was unable to log back into the server at all, tried changing my location via the dat file, tried regenerating my dat, tried restarting the server a bunch of times... nothing. It wasnt till i re-enabled the pluckable chickens that i was able to log back in. So sadly, it doesnt seem i am able to disable them either. Do i have any more options? =/
Just found this mod, it looks to me like a cool mod but i think that breaking ice will give you the block is nerfing silk touch too much. That means you don't really need it for anything except smoothstone which you can obtain from smelting.
LLunatic: I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with the pluckable chickens module. As I haven't worked on the code for a while, I can't say with certainty exactly what is causing it. The way the pluckable chickens module works is basically as follows: whenever a new entity enters the world, it checks if it is a chicken. If it is, then it replaces the chicken with a pluckable chicken. It is possible that in one of the later updates of Minecraft and/or Forge, this code has somehow been made buggy.
yovliporat: The mineable ice blocks can be disabled in the configuration file, if you so desire.
Im afraid there just might be no hope. I have done everything i can think of to stop the chickens from spawning and they still spawn by the thousands all over my world. i has gotten to the point now that my players dont even want to log in because the chickens are everywhere. All the plans of building an epic railway track between our houses is pointless with chickens spawning on the tracks constantly and if i try to disable them or remove the mod it just corrupts the world so no one can log in =/
This is my last ditch effort, if anyone has any ideas on how to get these damn chickens under control i would be forever grateful. *crosses fingers* that someone can think of something that perhaps i overlooked.

It starts out ok, skipping entity pluckable chicken spams the console for a while then it just kicks everyone out and no one is able to log into the server again until i re-enable the pluckable chickens
