This appears to be one of the greatest mods I have ever seen. I'm fascinated with the sea, and to be able to make a fully customization boat it amazing. You did a amazing job on it, I hope you continue the good work and have fun. I certainly will tell on my pals about this.
Yeah, sorry about that. I was going to post a new video this weekend, but I got sidetracked with a small home improvement project. Give me a few more days to shoot another video.
Ugh. Life continues to suck up all of my free time. I haven't forgotten about you. I'll put out a new video when I finally get a break from work. Hang in there. =)
Great! I just needed something like that but perhaps you could make the ship block look like stand for steering wheel and instead of paddle make steering wheel. I would also like to help (if you need any).
Don't worry. There will definitely be steering wheels. Those will come later for the bigger ships.
Also, I'm working on shooting the next video now. =)
I was wondering could you use help? I have 16GB of RAM and intel i7 processor. I would really like to help
Thanks for the offer, but I don't really need help on this one. This is kind of a fun hobby project for me. Also, having a fast computer isn't nearly as important as having really good programming skills.
I updated the OP, but you can skip straight to the video here:
This mod is turning to be very technically difficult to do. This new video shows a slightly larger ship this time. Although now, the mod can correctly support ships with empty space below the water level! It still uses the paddle for navigation for now, but eventually I'll implement more interesting systems for propulsion that are suitable for larger ships.
Wow, good job with progress!
I see in the vid you've added realignment, great!
Does the whole ship have to be above the water for the first time or can it start with part underwater? I ask this because the ships I build have their keel and part of hull under the water (on average-3 blocks).

Ships can be partially underwater. I just built that boat way up in the sky to show off the water physics. =)
Wow i cant wait to install but a bit glitchy when you controll ship (sorry bad eglish)
Yes, there are still a ton of minor bugs and glitches I need to sort out. I'll release the first version of the mod when I finish the core features and add a lot more polish. Hopefully, the glitchy ship navigation won't be in the release version.
Okay, that's awesome...
Now we have the famous question I will paraphrase here: "how large can you go?"
There's no technical limit for the size of the ships. The only obstacle now is that larger ships have more special cases (ie, could be glitchy), and they take more time to process (might cause lag). The goal is to allow much larger ships (thousands of blocks), but I want to test it heavily first. I might also have to optimize the code more to keep the lag down. Other than that, there's no reason ships are limited to a specific size.
Will the area of a ship impact on how it is submerged? For example, if I put 1 block of quartz in the middle of a 25 by 25 raft, would it submerge below the water as much as a quartz block in the middle of a 5 by 5 raft?
Again GREAT WORK
Cheers,
SuperBrea
Very vast. There will definitely be submarines. I don't know yet if they will be confined to the water though.

I am a representative of VudooHosting
It will always be Forge compatible. Also... new video will upload soon. =)

Yeah! With the water displacement code in place now, that allows me to build submarines later!
