Sorry, that exception is going to be impossible to fix. If there's some code out there that's trying to peer beyond the veil of World abstraction, then Ships Mod will never be able to spoof World instances correctly. Also, the Forge version of the World class doesn't even have a cast to WorldServer in it. And why should it? The World class should have no idea what a server is. I'm guessing some other mod out there is doing some bad ASM? If that's the case, there's certainly nothing I can do about it.
Ehm no sadly not, im on my old laptop at the moment so cant really record at the moment. But the bug itself happens when you have 2 ships close together and you launch one and someone else launches one at the same time, u can then sometimes use their ship and they can move yours.

Yes sorry, it's the thread that is running slow on the server and forced me to disable Ships for the time being, it was unplayable due to this thread being spammed and taking up too many resources. It's no crash report, just a hanging thread caught by threadlocker.

So, a quick question to everyone, has anyone experienced issues in multiplayer with Ships?
I just wanted to see before i make an issue of it. I have been playing LAN with some family and Ships is practically unusable. Its the first time we have actually tried using ships in LAN before, so i just wanted to see if anyone else had similar problems.
Well I have never seen any unsolvable problems with the earlier versions of Ships mod on my Cauldron server.

Some friends and I use it on a server with several other mods. It's great to make a ship with some storage and sail around looking for villages and other interesting features.
I look forward to when other propulsion systems are implemented. It would be cool to have some kind of system where you can attach propellers to your ship which are driven by a propeller shaft that can be turned using different methods. Examples of these methods can include steam-powered reciprocating engines, steam-powered turbines, or petroleum-fueled engines. These would be compatible with many pre-existing mods out there, like railcraft's steam, buildcraft's fuel, or industrialcraft's electricity.

And one, huge, very large, very important request:
A Shipyard (and Boat Crafting Station) - This is a server control item, and we'll start with the most basic idea first.
It is from a shipyard that you obtain your ship control block for a configurable cost (Or # per player)
For a more advanced version, you can select one of any number of pre-existing designs, each of which will have a configurable cost in blocks, items, etc. (These represent construction costs). You will then be given an item that you can right click a spot of water that is of appropriate depth and your boat will spring into existence on that spot, provided there is sufficient water space available.
For the ultra fun advanced version! A Shipyard is an, often immense, multi-block structure. Once building a shipyard in the appropriate configuration, you will then be able to use it to build ships of varying sizes (Dependent on the size of the shipyard). As above, these can be free-form ships, or they can be one of a any number of pre-configured models configured by the Admin
This idea is mainly to help preserve a certain sense of style to a server, if one is going for a particular effect, as well as gate access to wonders such as these magnificent ships. It's also to keep people from building stupid bundles of floating blocks.
How many mods do you have? I'm having problems, as I wrote before, but it seems you have issues only with tons of other mods (I don't know if it's the lag or some conflict). What kind of problem do you have?
I have 24. Counting cores, plugins and addons. This happens while im in a LAN game with my brothers. They are actually the ones experiencing the issues. I am perfectly fine. No problems on my end at all. Save for Lily pads stopping my boat dead in its tracks.
Its a small ship, just barely over 300 blocks. But when i launch and try to sail it, my brothers and my dad's game lock up. They have massive lag spikes. They have difficulty riding on the ship, and its only worse when they are off of it. My dad and brother could see me running across displaced water while the ship was nearly 50 blocks away sitting normally. While on my end, i was sailing just fine, and bringing the ship over to them. i have a strong computer, and theirs aren't poor machines. When the ship is docked, everything is perfectly fine.

That sounds like ship movement deltas aren't being sent to the other clients correctly. It could be tricky to fix. I can look into it.

Awesome! Thanks Cuchaz. It doesnt seem to be much of a problem when using an external server, as i have joined several servers that used Ships in the past and no one complained about lag other than the norm. Just when the basic LAN connection is used through minecraft.

I'm only interested in air ships, but archimedes mod seems a bit dead atm.

This is definitely the Ships mod to watch. It is probably the best i have ever used. As well as Airships, the mighty Cuchaz has plans for submarines.
I have been running into a problem when I leave my ship set for a while, its hard to put into words, but I took some screenshots. It corrects itself, but ends up being a distance away from where it was

When the client and the server get desynchronized, all kinds of weird things can happen. You can always fix it by logging off the server and logging back on though.
