I've tried to join but get a "Bad login" error. I think it's because I'm using the new launcher. Do you know a work-around for this?
I have always used the Titan Minecraft Launcher. It doesn't appear to have that issue. Ouatchuer may have found a solution for getting the Mojang version to work. I think I recall him posting about that
They need fresh air as well. I gave up on having a ceiling and instead do 3 block high wall with a 4th level set one block further out so the spiders can't climb over it. Just make sure you don't have any hillsides near the walls as the spiders will jump from the slope to clear the wall.
I have also seen people put ladders on the 4th level instead of setting it one block out. I guess the spiders get stopped by the ladders.
I've noticed after removing the extra cobblestone slabs I placed on the roof that they've regained their health. Then afterwards when I placed the glass, they got sick again. So now I need to remove these glasses after working very hard to get all of it since its apparent that they'll get sick if I make a ceiling. . What a waste of hard effort if it'll end up that way.
Despite that, I'm still baffled on how all my chickens disappeared for 2 times even though its mob-proof. I mean, if zombies want them chicken meat, they'll have to bring parachutes with them. And NOTHING can reach the walls since I've took advantage of the nearby water sources and made them into flowing moats.
Only spiders go for your chickens. If your water source is in a corner or on an edge of the coup then that can be the problem. Chickens hang out in there and spiders strike at them through the wall. Having the water in the center will solve that, but will cost you 100 xp per bucket to place. (CTRL click to place water in case you didn't know that one).
I was just wondering the concept of underground biomes
Outline
- Each underground biome tends to contain mostly one type of ore
>> EG you would have a "copper mine" rather than an everything mine.
- Each underground biome is the same size and shape as the surface biome above it
- A plains biome is a little more likely to be a copper biome also but not always
- Some underground biomes are much more dangerous than others
- Copper mines are much less dangerous than mithril mines
- A huge benefit to this option is that it would create a deep game play progression for players
- Mining adamantium requires excellent armor and very high level weapons
Present Example
- Currently I explore mines with nothing except for 16 torches, 8 blocks of sand and a potato.
- I move a chest and a bed up behind me at fixed intervals
- Any cave will do, there is no difference between them so long as i can get down deep nice and quickly
- These days I tend not to spelunk to the bottom anymore because it uses so much food to jump around..instead I just save up enough copper an install a shaft on my first go
- I always mine just above lava level and just keep digging
- I never start new mine, i just drive a tunnel to the next cave system so I don't need to dangerously cave my way to the bottom for no profit.
Proposed Example
- After prospecting for more than a week with my mule I finally discover what I suspect might be a mithril mine, there is snow outside so I know my chances are better
- At first when I explore the cave can't see any ore at all, this tells me that the mine has some high level ores rather than iron
- After some time I get very deep in the cave and i notice there are waaay more skeleton archers than usual, the change in the mob mix gives me another clue that this is specifically a mithril mine...adamantium caves are filled with more spiders....copper mies have lots of mushrooms
- Mithril mines are very very hard, there are sooo many archers down here it would be impossible to survive without armor
- Finally I found some mithril and can start working toward my new anvil
General comments
- As always the goal is depth of play
- Different mining biomes allow you "Avernite the creator" to go nuts with new mobs and challenges specific to each
- Finding adamanium would need luck but also more skill
- Lastly prospecting with a mule is something I have a deep need to do, please help me forfill my life's raison d'etre.
Some comments on balance
- Spawn rates and difficulty can be adjusted giving Avernite excellent control over each difficulty level
- Some types of mines might be so dangerous down deep that very few players ever dare to try, instead preferring lower returns for safer mining in shallow rock.
- Diamond could always be located under the oceans because it sounds cool
- Copper mines could have more mushrooms making it easier to recognise them
Finally, one of the great parts of mite is the initial exploration phase, making dodgy shelters and exploring the mite world. Adding ongoing prospecting means that the exploration phase will be dramatically extended and getting mules with saddle bags will actually be pretty key.
As always, keep up the great work. Recently I have been looking at seemingly a hundred other survival games and none seem to have the depth of play that mite has. I enjoyed space engineers but in the end I seem to get bored and always come back to mite.
Even if you plan not to follow up the suggestion i'd love to know your thoughts.
As I've mentioned earlier, my coop is 200% completely mob-proof, especially on spiders! They are super ultra mega spider proof! To further justify this as well to what you have said about my water source, here are the screenshots of how my defenses work.
On the first and second screenshot of the chicken farm shows the inside of the coop. It is enclosed with a glass roof, other than that there's a monitoring station just below the fortified staircase where I used to stand by back when there was no roof and in case any of the lucky spiders got through the roof and survived, but now that doesn't happen anymore. At the roof since my chickens apparently need fresh air, I've destroyed a short single file of glass blocks, anyway spiders can still not get in.
To prove this and to reply about the issue with the water source as mentioned by PuraVidaServer, from the 3rd to 7th screenshot shows how I made use of the 2 water source and as well placed additional exp consuming water to making the flowing moat more violent. NO MOBS CAN REACH THE WALLS, EVEN SPIDERS.The space of the moat is big enough to prevent spiders and other mobs from approaching the walls. To make everything completely safe I've even made walls on the mountain peak even though its unnecessary since a fall from that height could lead to instant death
as shown in the 8th and 9th screenshot.
To conclude this, THERE IS NO WAY for spiders to enter the coop. I'm confused now since PuraVidaServer said that only spiders go for chickens? So then that just makes it more sure that my chicken farm is completely safe from any danger. What makes it more strange that the 2nd time my chickens disappeared, I was expanding my wheat and pumpkin farm which was he chicken farm enough for the render to show and when I came back, poof, they're freaking gone! They disappeared into thin air. The render was close enough and the assailant should still be there but there was nothing, like nothing at all. No traces of attacks and most importantly there was no assailant waiting there. This just leaves me to believe that this is a bug.
EDIT:
Another thing to mention is that before I expanded my wheat and pumpkin farm, I took a look at the chicken farm and there were still there. The amount of time that I used on expanding the wheat and pumpkin farm was enough for me to reach the assailant if there was ever one and could still reach the attack on time but there was nothing like that at all, they just vanished.
And you have a maximum of 4 blocks space between any torches. I was thinking if it was dark then spiders could spawn but you are saying it even happens during the day?
Maybe they are drowning in running water? You would think you would get raw chicken sometimes unless it has despawned by the time you get there....
Not sure what I could be...
I have remembered now that I used to do a checkerboard ceiling of glass and wood (the wood being to help in placing the glass) and then I would remove all the wood so there 1x1 air gaps everywhere. Only a wood spider could then get through so you just make sure there are no trees nearby.
Even if spiders do spawn, they can't get in. The space in inside is lit enough for mobs not to spawn and for the flowing water its just isn't enough for them to get drown and the big space doesn't allow them to approach the water. I see them mostly flock on one corner. In the end, I don't see any reason for them to vanish out of nowhere, I've taken a perfectionist style of securing this farm.
So I just discovered something weird while I was prospecting a nearby cave, there's this huge abyss and below it is mycelium and a bunch of huge mushrooms. Is this one of MITE's magic?
Wow I think you found a giant mushroom cave, they're really rare.
I had a good look at you photos and I am really baffled as to whats happening. On picture number one behind the left chicken there looks like there may be a dark spot but I feel like I am grasping at straws. I reckon add another 10 torches in there to what ever you may vaguely think is too dark. Sry I can't be more help.
On a separate note I kinda like the wild architecture you got going there
A lot has changed with my chicken farm. I gotta say, it's the most ambitious and expensive chicken farm, expensive on the effort and resources exerted. With over 100+ chickens, at first it was very hard to keep them healthy but then I made several sections of the chicken farm, Their health problem was due to the space. 1st and 2nd screenshot is the central part, this is where my chickens gather to swim, I made 2 small pools for them to swim in, they really like to swim. They also have elevated spaces for them to stay, I'm planning on expanding the highest elevated space on the second screenshot, I plan to carve space through it. 3rd screenshot is where most of chickens flock into, they really like the underground space beneath that room, it's like a lounge for them.
4th and 5th screenshot is the newest addition to my chicken farm, the "sun room". Back then, they would really, really push the wall on it so I made that space but had a really hard time since I got to fix the flowing moat above so that I could build vents on it. I really spent a lot of time inside the chicken farm, making sure to monitor it properly since I'm starting to have nightmares, I really don't want to go back hunting for animals on those ridiculous epic mountains. To be honest, it's like I'm taking care of an ant farm, my chickens are so many that I don't feel lonely anymore with the amount of noise they make. In other words, I'm so attached to my chickens that I would be so freaking depressed if they disappear again for no goddamn reason in this 999% mob-proof chicken farm.
I took a very perfectionist style of building the roof, making sure nothing could get pass through it. It's just absolutely impossible for anything to enter the chicken farm other than an intelligent being. 6th and 7th screenshot is how I made the roof, as you can see the spider is really having a good time being cornered. Since apparently chickens need "fresh air", I made 3x3 vents on the maximum space of the roof, placing a block on the middle to make sure my chickens get a lot of UV rays. Since space was an issue, and soon it'll be apparent that they'll need more sunlight sooner or later, I had to built a dedicated "sun room" that changed the flowing moat. I had a hard time rearranging the moat but it was worth it. The investments I made on this chicken farm was worth it, I got more profit than losses. In a full day, I would get about 5-7 stacks of eggs, I'm very satisfied, but I still cannot move on to the disappearance of my previous chickens for no reason and I'm afraid this might happen again for no reason.
8th to 11th screenshot shows my beautiful home. I'm very proud of it! From hiding in a tiny hole on its cliff, to owning the whole mountain for myself. My future plans is to make some sort of "hanging garden" using the 2nd original water source on the right side cliff that was enclosed, which is currently being used as a pool for my chickens. It'll be a floating garden where fountains of water will fall from it, I can already imagine how majestic it'll become. Apparently, I discovered two isolated cows on the other mountain at the other side of my region, once I get green slimes, I'll be constructing an ambitious cow farm which will be located on the nearby peninsula separating the my soon to be mycelium island.
To end this, Just a few clicks away from my soon to be mycelium island was a previous cave were I mentioned about the abyss in it. I made a very, very nice discovery as shown on the 12th to 15th screenshot. I have managed to descend upon the abyss that I have mentioned before and landed on what seems to be an amazing mushroom land where towering mushrooms dominated its space. Beneath those towering mushrooms were mycelium that spread as far as the eye can see and bountiful brown mushrooms occupy its space. All I can say is that this was very good to the eyes! My eyes were full of bliss at this fantastic sight.
Now to finally conclude this, I have some questions:
-How do I make a red mushroom farm?
-What do coins do?
-Runegates???
-Do the fog weather have any other effects besides limiting my fov?

This is not exactly correct.
During Blood Moon, zombies will aggro everything, including chickens. Zombies with picaxes WILL dig to your animals.
Also, your walls are made up of cobblestone walls, not 100% full cubic meter solid blocks. Sometimes, mobs can "glitch attack" through corners or "less-than-full-block" blocks.
I suggest you make a second set of walls, about 8 blocks away and out from the first set of walls, to act as a "buffer zone". It might be kind of hard, what with your pen squeezed in between a tiny spot between extreme hills.
One other thing which might be happening to your chickens: they might just be drowning. Try to give them only still water instead of flowing water, especially "downward falling" flowing water is bad for their health. Top create a still water "spring water" source, CTRL + RIGHT CLICK with a water bucket over a 1x1x1 empty air hole. That costs 100 XP per source. A 2x2 water area is enough for a chicken coop of that size. You just do the diagonal,. then dig out the remaining corners of the 2x2, so... that is 200 XPs. Which is a good XP "investment" instead of dealing with all the hassles of flowing water.

It's impossible for zombies to pickaxe their way due to the interval of the flowing water. No mobs can reach the walls and I found no traces as I've mentioned. And even if they miraculously reach the walls, its impossible for them to kill the chickens because they're underground, very far away from the walls. Its completely mob-proof

That also isn't the case, they don't drown at all. The 2nd time it happened the water was just a small flow that didn't went downwards, just rested on top of the ground that prevented them from reaching the hole. The new flowing water is like a slide for my dear chickens, they would end up on the slab. I don't just see any reason for them to drown since they keep flapping themselves out of it.
I also forgot to mention that it was day when my chickens disappeared for the 2nd time, I was on the render, no traces of attacks, no assailants and nothing. Just nothing at all.
Now to finally conclude this, I have some questions:
-How do I make a red mushroom farm?
-What do coins do?
-Runegates???
...
That's quite the impressive build and it looks expensive! After several MITE worlds my farms and houses have gotten smaller and smaller in the short runs, everything costs so much resources! With some understanding on how mobs attacks farms one can make a pretty cheap and secure farm, in theory, a flying farm would be 100% safe from everything except the occasionally zombie pigman from thunder strikes
Coins are a great addition to the game that allows the player to store and consume exp pretty fast. Staying around level 15-20 is great unless one is super secure and confident in that they will not die, so one doesn't lose too much exp when they die. So if you find yourself at a comfortable level, feel free to craft and store some coins just in case. Its good to be familiar with storing exp when one wants to make better quality tools, I don't know if you have seen the reference folder yet, it contains a lot of useful info.
I did find runegates quite interesting and they were really fun to explore alone. Runegates are just a mithril/adamantium addition for portals, they have an algorythm I did not quite figure out (wanted to set portals to desired locations). Anyway, if you have obsidian and mithril to spare, try to just make a runegate Portal behavior in MITE is different than in vanilla, try to make a "normal portal" and see, and I dont remember if Avernite fixed the overworld portal, spawning under ground bug, so maybe take the safe route and backup the world the first time!
That's a neat looking farm! I'm afraid you got to remove some glasses on the roof of that chicken farm since apparently they need fresh air. How do I use coins?
Flying farm... You just gave me a spark to build one!
Yes, a flying farm would be awesome, that's actually a great project!
You just craft coins from nuggets, they will consume exp when they are made. One single nugget per coin. The chicken farm is doing fine, yes they do need "fresh air", but i found that one open block to freedom is sufficient for the chickens. I'm just in a constant worry that the farm will randomly die, it has happened so many times, either to mobs or overpopulating ...
Oh I just remembered that the chicken coop also got this open door which also serves as freedom, but I really think that just one open block suffices.
It's now my 4th blood moon or 5th if the blue moon is counted. Day 161 to be precise. I've stayed all night inside my chicken farm and intentionally tried to lure a horde to enter my farm. Just as I've expected, it's totally mob-proof. Now I'm more inclined to believe that what happened to the disappearance of my chickens was due to a bug. To clarify more about what Ouatcheur mentioned about the causes of the problem:
1.) Chickens couldn't possibly drown at all since the flowing water would lead them to slabs and if stuck, the water is only at their feet level.
2.) I mustered up the courage to lure a horde fueled by the blood moon to my chicken farm, they couldn't even attempt to break something.
Anyways, I am experiencing nervous breakdowns and ptsd flashbacks exploring my first real mining cave(before the mushroom cave). First it led me to a labyrinth of epic caves, then to a very large mineshaft with about 3 dungeons( I think there's more since I haven't finished exploring everything), then 4 freaking ravines with lava pools in it and another epic cave that had caves in it, and now a huge abyss which I'm sure I won't bother going down. And still no mithril or adamantium ores. s m h
Also while browsing through the changelogs, what is this Underworld stuff? Mantle and core? Ancient thingies? metal tool benches? ANCIENT METALS?! I'm on version 195 and I can't seem to craft those mentioned tool benches. Another thing to ask, are there any changes in the Nether? Can you reproduce blueberries?
1st screenshot is my chickens evacuating through the underground lounge I made for them during my 4th/5th blood moon. I noticed they enter interiors if danger is present.
2nd screenshot is my new expanded farm, this time I've planted a melon, 2 onions and 1 potato. Since its a start of another wait for the blood moon, I've decided to go all in on planting the rest of my wheat seeds. For goodness, I've tripled the expansion of my pumpkin farm. On the far distance is a tree farm based on the method of Ouatcheur(thank you very much!) I've ate all the wood in this huge mountain region and leaving it to get more is practically suicide. That tree over there is tempting but I've decided to stay shut in my domain.
3rd screenshot is the construction of my cow farm. The terrain where I hid the cow and where an isolated cow is nearby is unsuited for a cow farm because of the many openings and just me being paranoid about it. Since the huge lake was near, I've decided to terraform it into a very large cow farm. Once again, investing on another expensive and ambitious project. The hanging gardens and flying farms can wait, I need these cows more than ever to advance further. Talking about being ambitious, the day before the recent blood moon, I've decided to go fight the occasional god forsaken thunderstorm to amass a huge ton of gunpowder. A very fruitful outcome giving me stacks of TNT.
I have always used the Titan Minecraft Launcher. It doesn't appear to have that issue. Ouatchuer may have found a solution for getting the Mojang version to work. I think I recall him posting about that

EDIT: addtional screenshots on the other post
From here are the 11th to 16th screenshots.
EDIT: messed up with the spam sorry

Hi Nih,
make sure the water is two blocks deep around your walls....one day a zombie with a pick axe with chip straight though it if the water is too shallow
