Oh by the way, since a few versions, my game freezes for half a second and it seems to be periodical, like every 60 sec or so. Changing the render distance doesn't do anything against it. It's very annoying when you're in a fight.
Anyone else experiencing this? It sounds like the short hangs that PuraVida and Ouatcheur reported when R127 was released. If the hangs only occur when re-visiting old chunks then it's not a problem because they'll go away on their own.

I do still get the occasional pause but it is not too frequent for me. Maybe once in a real life month. I guess you may be able to tell better than I how many hours I have clocked in a month.
What I get is, very often, after playing a while (anywhere from a couple minutes to half an hour), some chunks don't load until I am almost on top of them. Very useful to "x-ray" to find ores, but I hate cheating, so... it's very annoying instead.
So I just hit F3+S in order to reset chunks and sound resources and the problem goes away... but only for a while. I even took the semi-conscious habit of hitting this "pre-emptively" every time I get out of bed. It takes only a second.
After some research, I think its linked to Java garbage collection algorithms, so... not much that can be done to fix it. Tried tons of java arguments settings. That didn't help much. It's been that way forever, vanilla or any mods.
Due to the game being written in Java there will be occasional pauses due to garbage collection and this is unavoidable. Ludwig, did you make any changes to your computer that might affect the amount of memory that is available to MC?
Shift + R is good for refreshing chunks. You can try the new Enhanced performance setting and see if it is better at preventing chunk rendering skips.
Hi there! After a bit of a struggle, I finally got the mod itself working, but for whatever reason, the resource pack isn't? It's the easiest part to install, so I know I didn't do that wrong, at least, but when I go into the resource packs tab in-game, even though it shows up, it won't let me click it (or standard, for that matter.) The screen just looks like it normally would, except that the little white box which indicates which resource pack is selected is completely gone, making it seem like neither of them are. When I start a world, the mod seems to be working fine (three hearts, etc.), but a red message in the upper corner says "Resource not found: pack.png - Press [c] to clear error message." If anyone knows what's wrong, could you help me out? And if not, could you just let me know if the resource pack is absolutely imperative to the gameplay? Thank you <3
Ok guys, I'm playing now with the new launcher, and with more memory attributed. It works like hell !!! So the problem came from me.
If you're using the new launcher I was wondering if you could report the line in the console output that starts with "Command line arguments: ". Should be printed out as soon as the game is launched.
Edit: I don't need to know what the values are, just which options/switches are being specified by the new launcher.
Also, since you seem to be unaware of the recent changes, be sure to keep one of the tree logs you'll get from your hatchet, you'll need it whole (not as planks) to make a flint tool bench ^^ Just sayin'
Actually you can't make planks using your personal crafting screen. You need the Flint Tool Bench to convert a log to planks.
I've finally done it! I got my mithril anvil! I had two mithril left over, and was at level 42, so I made a superb quality mithril sword (32,000 durability) and enchanted it with a high level enchantment, which gave the sword Sharpness 4. Unfortunately, these two actions sent me from level 42 down to level 7, so I will have to work on regaining my levels.
In other news, I have constructed a cow farm (it is 20x20 cobblestone walls for the walls, glass blocks for the ceiling). Either the glass blocks or the cobblestone walls provide the sunlight needed (idk which). The farm was built around a small plains biome pond to provide water. As long as I bonemeal the farm once in a while all 6 cows stay healthy. I've found that 3 bonemeal is enough to replenish it- 3 every minecraft week or so does the job. I kill enough skeletons each night to more than cover that. Idk why people are complaining about the cows' rate of grass consumption. In r104 at least, I haven't had any issues.
Also, I have begun exploring the nether, as I no longer need to fear losing my iron armor and sword (see the above picture of the mithril sword and you'll notice the rows of iron blocks). You'll also notice the unsmelted adamantium ore. I'd very much like to get some blaze rods. I'll be taking a break until I get my levels back up, but I need tips on finding a fortress. I've tried making a portal further away (well over 128 overworld blocks away, probably around 300 blocks away, as I could no longer see the original overworld portal) but I still emerge in the same portal in the nether. I have tried doing this with the original overworld portal lit and unlit, with the same results. Do I have to deactivate the nether one? If so, how am I to return to the overworld without dying, or will I have to suffer a death in order to try for a better portal location? If that is the case, now would be a good time, as I am only level 7. I feel like this isn't the case though.
What am I missing? Did Avernite change something to prevent people from simply creating an overworld "portal grid" in order to find a nether fortress? I wouldn't be surprised, but I've explored over 200 blocks in each direction from my portal with no sightings of a fortress. Advice would be greatly appreciated.
One final question: in the far future, whenever I finally get a beacon, can copper and silver blocks (or mithril and adamantium blocks, although I would never use those for a beacon base when they are so rare) be used for the "base" pyramid along with gold, iron, emerald, and diamond?

Have the underworld Skeletons been nerfed? I was coming across them before wearing Ancient Metal Armor and using Ancient Metal Bows but in the latest experimental releases I have never had any spawn.
Where do you find ancient metal in the Underworld? Normal mining? With the modest amount of TNT mining I have done I have not come across any.
Whenever I travel through the portal to the underworld for the first time in a while I will invariably find 6 or 7 cave spiders around the portal (on the underworld side) and a couple vampire bats, despite the fact that the portal is completely enclosed in cobblestone blocks. Is this just a vanilla thing as I also have noticed that that happens with the nether portal as well where you might find zombie pigmen near the portal on the overworld side? (now It would be the underworld). This would again be despite the nether portal being completely sealed off with cobblestone walls.

1. No changes that I'm aware of. Keep a look out for them.
2. Ancient metal is only found in dungeon chests. It's an alloy that was lost with the death of the ancients.
3. I hadn't thought of that. I might disable portal block mob spawns in the future.
Oh boy. And these chests with the Ancient Metal. Are they only in Underworld dungeons?
EDIT: And where can you expect to find the dungeons? (if they are in the underworld). Are they going to be near the surface or can I open up a cave system while TNT mining?
Nice adamantium armor. It seems you used adamantium blocks in your beacon though. I'm not worried. At this rate, by the time I get a beacon, I'll have enough iron.
i believe you misunderstand what I meant. I keep 6 cows at all times. It only takes a bit of bonemeal to preserve these 6. I alternate between breeding and letting them, slaughtering the excess, and letting them become healthy again. I have more than 6 including babies at times, but there are never more than 6 adults. The farm is close to my home so it isn't an inconvenience to visit daily.

Can't believe my favorite mod is still as active as it was a few years ago!

If there were any decorations or furniture in the future, it would be perfect
Uh...What should I do now?
Yeah, restart with the latest version of the experimental branch (R161). Waaaayy harder than some of the older versions....
If you're using the new launcher I was wondering if you could report the line in the console output that starts with "Command line arguments: ". Should be printed out as soon as the game is launched.
Edit: I don't need to know what the values are, just which options/switches are being specified by the new launcher.
So I'm playing R161, and I got my sticks and flint, but I can't make a hatchet. Was there a change that I missed, or is it a bug?
For the experimental releases you need to add a string or sinew to flint/obsidian tool recipes. There are some recipes shown in the folder containing the experimental releases: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B94TUGZlUcsXZWpjUFhITUdDNXc
Actually you can't make planks using your personal crafting screen. You need the Flint Tool Bench to convert a log to planks.
Ah. Thank you very much. I haven't played for a couple months because I was busy with school. Looks like I missed some pretty cool new stuff.

Uh...Nope, but it's no big deal
Couple of questions:
