Well, there's only a hand-full of compiler errors left and all of them related to rendering, so if you have half a day and get into the Modders Corner Discord/ask someone else for a little help, I think you should be able to pretty much publish a QnD release.
I had mine all updated, no compiler errors, but it wouldn't compile because apparently Forge stopped supporting classes placed in the Minecraft folders... which is how I had accessed some things. I can switch it over to Reflection, but it was just about then that my computer died.
At any rate, thanks for also taking the time to work on it. Too bad I hadn't pushed what I had done - could have saved you a lot of time

I've recently started to get into coding for Minecraft, but I've been programming for quite a few years. I'm still learning a little bit about the syntax of JSON files and working with models and blockstates, but if you want to push what you have my way, I can definitely try to help out. I've mostly been working with 1.11.2, but whichever version you want to push first I'll definitely be happy to help with. I was actually working on a mod (or just modding in general) and found that a lot of people still love this mod.
My question was kind of just in the air. I assumed that since he declared the mod open source as long as due credit is given, that permission was already given. But I was still asking both of you because it's polite to ask someone to actively work on their projects.
@Robijnvogel, @Spitfyre03 - if you'd like to work on updating the mod, feel free. I'd like to keep it under my name, but I will give you a portion of whatever Curse rewards it earns.
As far as reposting the mod, I'm not really okay with that. It's open source so people can learn from it and contribute to it, not repost it as their own. However, if you forked the project and made substantial changes to it such that a significant portion of the code was your own, then I'd have no problem with you posting your derivative work as its own mod with its own distinct name - this is the type of situation I envisioned when I say 'give credit where credit is due' (or however I phrased it...).
It sounds to me like we're discussing updating the mod, however, and I'm more than happy to accept help doing that. I will try to copy over what I have on the old hard drive and push those changes, which includes my initial work on updating to 1.8.9, and Robijnvogel also has a fork where he is working on updating it to 1.8.9.
If you do manage to get it working with an updated Minecraft version, I'd ask you to please push the version branch back to the main repository so that I can continue to work on it in the future. I have quite a few things on my to-do list that I'd still like to get to at some point.
Cheers, and thanks for your interest in updating this mod!
No I'm sorry if either of you had interpreted my statement as claiming and posting the project as a personal work. I just want to help update it because I think it would be a cool and nice experience, and many people want to see it updated anyways. For example, I saw in the earlier posts of this thread about adding shields, which Minecraft has already. That would save you a ton of time and all you would have to do is write extension classes rather come up with your own library, unless you add a whole bunch of functioanlities of course ;). But the mod will definitely stay under your name @coolAlias. This is your mod and I don't really think that changing a mod to accommodate for deprecated methods warrants it being our own work. Like @Robijnvogel said, thanks, and I'm looking forward to working on this
I deeply appreciate this mod being open source. It has still proven invaluable to me and my work even in 1.11. Just yesterday I had it open looking at Event Handlers.
So I'm 99% sure I'm using Robijnvogel's build (can't get on my laptop atm to check and see which I imported), but I know that I'm using the 1.8.9 library and the only errors I have now are the mods and API I haven't installed, the methods coolAlias directly wrote into the Minecraft library that I don't know what to do with, and the IUpdatePlayerListBox file that I can't find. I haven't worked with that so I don't even know what to do with that, but I fixed the error in EntityAITargetBombs where it couldn't sort for the closest entity and the custom arrow files where it wouldn't compile as well
I've done mine already but I have school on top of this. I work on whatever whenever I have free time so it's not a problem. I'm sure that if Robijnvogel has the API to work with then it isn't much of an issue addressing what needs fixed, but I haven't had as many issues with the code as I thought I would, unless the other mods need updated too. If either of y'all wants what I've changed I commented what I changed and why though
Well if I'm working from coolAlias's build then I went ahead and changed it to ITickable, so the only compile errors I have now are the addVertex() and addVertexWithUV() that he calls from when he directly wrote them into WorldRenderer. Do you know where I can get the referenced mods though
No I checked, and I'm not using his build. I had 2 that I got from git hub. One named Master and one with a giant hexadecimal ID. I imported the hex first. And I only had issues with like 3 files that referred IUpdatePlayerListBox. Honestly I think you've done awesome fixing as much as you have though.
Ok so Robijnvogel and I have been working on it and it's come down to about 20 compile errors. I've fixed a few since last messaging him and there are more I'm on the verge of fixing but I have work. The rest may take about a day or 2 before it's actually launchable on 1.8.9, and we have to work out any major runtime errors too.

I don't even have a clue how to use github o3o I'd love to bugtest the updates (though I have no idea how to download the repository?), since I'm currently sticking to 1.8.9 myself. (Minecraft has decided to take the route of crushing modders spirits after 1.8, so most modders stick with 1.8.9 anyways).

Also, knowing that the community is working on updating this mod is rather fantastic! If we get working versions for new minecraft, Cool has something to reference while working on new stuff. We get updated ZSS and new content, faster and better than ever <3 Thank you in advance Robijn

I used to have hobbies, you know? But otherwise, life is good

@Robijnvogel - btw, what do you mean by QnD?

I'll try to take a gander at it this weekend, but I also have to do my taxes, so it's more likely to be the weekend after this one.
