Hello, and welcome to the Buffed Tools mod for minecraft. This mod will increase your minecraft experience, by adding more randomness to your game.
This mod is very simple to install, it does nod add any blocks or items(as most mods do), but it adds a very unique mechanic to your tools.
It adds the random buffs feature, that you could see in Terraria. While using this mod the tools you craft will have a random prefix, meaning, that they have sertain features to them.
Currently, there are 43 buffs, and 5 main effects they add. These are: Durability - make your tools more or less durable. Basically, whenever you break a block (or hit a mob) there is a chance of either not loosing the durability of the tool(if this buff is positive) or to loose more(if the buff is negative) Speed - increases(or decreases) the mining speed of the tool. Damage - increases(or decreases) the damage your tool does to mobs. Remember, that the additional damage will be dealt after the main damage, and the blue number in the description of an item will always stay the same. Crit - gives you a chance to triple the damage you deal to the enemy. InvulTime - increases(or decreases) the time you will be invulnerable after hit.
You can take tool out while holding shift to do not apply any buff to your tool(if you feel unlucky).
More features will be added to the mod, aswell as new effects, for now it is just an alpha.
You can add your own buffs, just look in the configuration file to learn more.
Installation guide
1)Install MinecraftForge(it's very simple with their installer)!
2)Install DummyCore(just drop in mods)
3)Install the mod itself(just drop in mods)
4)Make sure, that everything works correctly.

This mod looks awesome! Always have loved the attribute system of Terraria, and its so cool to see that transfer over into Minecraft.
Can't wait to see what comes out of this!
(Also, if not already on your to-do list, reforging would definitely be cool)
Well, they do look similar, but there are some differences, and they are actually very big:
1)You can put enchantments on the pickaxe with buffs.
2)Enchantment only provides 1 effect, when buffs can have up to 5 effects at a time.
3)Enchantments are something you will not have an access to in the early game, however buffs are aviable in the early game.
4)Enchantments provide much better stats(for example Efficency 3 increases the mining speed a lot, while with buffs you can get a maximum increasement of 20%)
5)Buffs can be negative aswell. Enchantments can't.
Buffs are more of the cosmetic feature, than enchantments. And one more thing - if you were a blacksmith would you create all tools completely the same? Shouldn't there be difference?)
Yes, it works with all tools from any mod, my Demonic Ruby Sword deals with zombies very well.
And in the future version there will be an ability to reforge any tool, from TConstruct for example...

Thanks for the quick reply.
But how do you get the buff on your tools?
You just craft it (Without [Shift] button), then you wait for a bit, or move it somewhere in your inventory 2 times, or reopen your inventory. Right now, it works only with standart Crafting window, and it's don't work with TConstruct crafting system. In future we'll try to make more compatibility by creating new reforging mechanics.
Just so you don't get spammed by people posting the same crash (They haven't downloaded Dummy Core)
Put the Dummy Core download with the Buffed Tools download.
(Most people don't read installations, if its Forge, just add it in the mods folder.
Without even looking at the Instrustions)
(Most people don't know crash report engineering)
A very good mod, and very fun to use - but just a suggestion, you may want to put a color rarity explanation somewhere online instead of telling people to go look through the DummyCore code (as it says to do in the config). o:
It just seems like too big of a hoop to jump through, just to add personalized buffs to the mod.

You can look here and inside Utils folder you can find EnumRarityColor.java.
That is unfortunate. Any plans to add it in for chests and mob drops?
Also, will the effects be applied to tools previously crafted on a pre-existing world before putting this mod in?
At the moment, any tool can only get buffs when crafting or repairing (2 identical instruments), but in the future a system of reforging will be added.

No, it only works when crafting
Akitori, thanks for the review, if you do not mind I'll add it to the topic head.
