Thanks for the idea! If I can figure out how to do that the mod would be epic I think about it and see if there is some way I can integrate it
Finally tried again the mod. Just noticed that the Sword of Paralysis despite working fine with the effect, it seems not taking item damage. Tools seem to work fine instead. Is there any trouble or did I broke something? Will test the others as I mine them. Edit: Oddly that issue seems disappeared by itself at some point after a bunch of restarts.
Btw, could you add support with oredict Sticks so to use BoP and Natura woods?
How about some Ametrine combo/special stuff since you have both Amethyst and Citrine?

I gotta say, I'm using your mod for a while and I just love those gems. It feels like they naturally belong to minecraft. I'm not using things like super drill, because it's too OP for me, but I like discovering caves and just mining these gems, I just want them all in my chests. I feel like a dwarven miner in the game and just mining them brings me satisfaction. Well, almost, that's why I created account so I could ask you a question:
Is there a way, to edit, modify a little your mod so gems could drop exp when mining? I mean, like coal, redstone or diamond? That's really one thing I'm missing there. That little tinkling sound with flying orbs would hit the spot for me, I'd say. That would deliver that feeling like you are rewarded for finding something special. Now the mining process is somehow dull like when mining stone. It doesn't have to be much exp. Let's say 0-1 exp.
Could you edit your mod for me? It's a little selfish request, but I still couldn't resist to ask. I understand Java a little but I just couldn't go and edit your mod, I don't even know how(these .class files looked like couldn't be edited).
In any case, thank you for simple yet great mod. I've been having fun with it for so long and it's part of minecraft for me.

XP is something that I totally forgot to add to the gems when they are mined, and I feel the exact same way you do with those tinkling sounds . XP drops for the ores are definitely going to be added once I finish updating to 1.8 (Which I have to admit, I have been doing a looooot of procrastination cause tf2 and csgo have got me under their spells ). Thank you for taking the time to write out a full post and its people like you who make me just want to open up eclipse and get started on the mod and thanks for enjoying the mod, my pleasure
P.S. I wanted to make the gems unique by giving each one a different shape and size rather than reskins of diamonds giving a bit more excitement to the gems. What really baffles me is why other mod creators don't just make a gem from scratch rather than reskining

I'd like to ask, if you are planning adding exp to only some new version (like for MC 1.8) or will you add that to others too? I have to admit, I'm playing MC 1.6.4 only because I have one other mod(Pam's Harvestcraft) there that's not compatible with newer version, I think. And those two mods are really what I need in MC. Because of those, I can really relax with MC, just planting trees, plants and gaining wealth from underground. That's a relaxing heaven.

I like to pride myself on good interaction with the community which is what I see a lot of Mod Devs not doing. I know how bad it must feel to never be answered when a question is asked. As for the xp. I will be adding it after I had updated the mod 1.8 in an update after. Since I rarely get requests, I will try to add the xp component to the 1.6.4, as a personal request once I update to 1.8
Thanks for the kind words on the textures. I was always bad at art, but since the textures are only 16x16 I figured I'd try to put some effort into making them look nice
