Yeah that already exists. Its in .minecraft\config\XRay.txt
lol
Indeed, get very familiar with it if you change mods alot in 1.7.x as forge automatically adjusts items ID's to avoid conflicts and you will need to manually update this config regularly. Take note that ore ID's from mods such as Wolfgang's More ore's change depending which mods are loaded and game saves where mods weren't yet added. Hint: save a backup for such saves and just switch Xray.txt's.

This might change in the next version
There might be two files now: XRay.txt and Redstone.txt. In each one will be the names of the blocks to use, instead of IDs. My goal is to make configuration easier for the user. So I'm going to try this out and if it works it will be included in the next release.

That would be awesome; once and done! Thank you for the fast response, time dedicated to mod coding, and the receptiveness to listen to ideas.
I'm releasing a special pre-release for version 9.0
Couple of things to note:
This is a pre-release
This is for 1.7.2 only
This is for forge only
The actual release will include the auto installer. This is a pre-release so people can try it out and report bugs. For simplicities sake, it only includes forge.
Press C to cycle through the coords display modes. (coords, coords + fps, coords + chunk, etc)
Keybindings should be fixed - let me know if you have any problems
The configuration files changed. They're now located in: .minecraft/config/XRay/
In the mods list, Forge will say XRay is DISABLED. This is normal behaviour. When Forge loads the XRay mod, it modifies the Java bytecode, after that the forge part doesn't do anything.
Feedback is greatly appreciated

I just gave the beta a run and I love it! Several things I really like 1) never having to change ID's for each save 2) the toggle for fly mode and if you change while in the air you take no fall damage but as soon as you touch the ground subsequent falls take damage 3) the toggle on the coords rocks (although the parentheses after x,z and C: 5x7 I don't quite understand) . Thank you for the effort and taking suggestion with lightning fast implementation.
hmm what i need to change in config to let me see Lead ore?
If you use chickencore's NEI you can go to options, tools, dumps, and do block and item dumps. Then go to your minecraft folder and use something like Notepad ++ to open, and scroll to the item/block you want to add to either the Xray or redstone txt in the Xray Config folder in config and copy the part before first comma and paste in appropriate text config. That is to say if using new beta. I.E. this is the copper ore in More Ores from my dump

Thanks for the feedback! The parentheses after X and Z are your coordinates within the current chunk. And the C: is the current chunk coordinates.
Truthfully I don't care for how it's laid out right now, so I may rearrange them.
Lastly, I think I'm going to include some sort of method to obtain a block dump before.

The block and/or item dump will help those without NEI vastly. I know I have some that I add to the configs from both. Thanks for the explanation; I thought that is what it was but didn't want to assume it and come off as a derp lol.
Is there a way to configure the blocks the X-ray picks up? I know the mod says "configurable" but I can't find where to configure them at. (By this I mean "Pixelmon" blocks.)
Could you just make it a mod, compatable with forge? Like a normal .jar that works with forge? The auto-installer doesnt install all my mods, and it would be better if this was just a single .jar mod. Thanks.

moreores:BlockCOre,245,true,null,com.wolffang404.moreores.BlockCOre
I would copy and paste this section into my Xray.txt located in .minecraft/config/Xray
moreores:BlockCOre
If using an older version just add the 245 into the Xray.txt in the config folder like this:
blocks_xray: 5, 8, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, 16, 21, 22, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 33, 34, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 46, 48, 50, 51, 52, 54, 55, 56, 57, 59, 65, 66, 70, 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 76, 85, 89, 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99, 100, 103, 109, 111, 115, 116, 117, 118, 119, 120, 120, 122, 129, 131, 132, 133, 139, 151, 152, 152, 153, 154, 155, 157, 158, 165, 169, 178, 202, 240, 241, 242, 243, 464, 245
