I'm using MC 1.7.10 with Forge 1614 and a few mods such as GregTech.
If I use XRay version 39, it is capable of viewing all the various blocks, even though many of them don't have localized names. However, it does not work when combined with multi-core optifine, so I'm stuck using the slower default chunk loading.
If I use XRay version 47 then it works correctly with optifine multi-core chunk loading. However, I am no longer able to view many modded blocks. All the GregTech ores and such are not visible in XRay, rendering this mod effectively useless.
Would it be possible to get a new version for 1.7.10 that works with Optifine but also works with modded blocks? Thanks!
If I remember correctly, this is something GregTech actively does to counter cheaty X-ray mods.
If it's for testing purposes, though... There is a mod that lets you remove all dirt, stone and alike in a certain radius from the player. If only I remembered its name. :/
The only special thing that GregTech does is that ores are tile entities and the server does not send the tile entity data to the client until the ore block is actually visible (to save on bandwidth). The client still knows there is an ore block, it just doesn't know which ore it is. XRay version 39 is quite capable of viewing these ore blocks. It's only XRay version 47 where it is no longer capable of doing so. I do not have any inbetween versions to test which exact version broke this.
Just to add to Purple post.. ANY resource pack can be used with the latest version(s) of minecraft...
The only 'problems' you will/could have is that any items/blocks added to newer versions will show the default textures since the older packs would not have any textures in them for the new stuff..
The only other 'problem' is that you may try to use a resource pack & get a message stating that the pack is not compatible with the version of MC you are trying to run, since some changes were made to resource packs over the years but even if you answer [yes] to wanting to use it - it should still work ok.. just that some graphics may not show up properly (due to a name change or something like that)
*nod* What I meant by 'it should work great' was that it should have up to date textures and block names. I've run into issues with like, 1.8 resource packs not having the right textures for stuff in 1.11 and 1.12, cos some things got internally renamed. But a 1.12.1 pack would be just fine on a 1.12.2 install, no problems like that.

That's very interesting. I'll see if I can look into this further.
Also, once school settles down I will be releasing an update for the XRay mod. I have it mostly working with the latest Minecraft version and just need to make some time to add the finishing touches.

Check out my XRay mod!
Forge compatible, configurable, and easily installable.

I'll be updating this within the next day or two. If the dev needs help let me know. Cheers.
Your statement confuses me.
You will be updating this... but you want to know if they need help? This mean you're just updating this for yourself and offering to pass along the code?

Download
You can download a preview release of the next version that includes support up to 1.12.1 here.
You can download it here. The latest version of XRay is version 47. It was released on November 27th, 2016.
If you want to checkout the latest beta version, it's also available on my website.
How do I install it?
The mod comes with an installer. Simply double click on the downloaded file, and select a profile to install it into. You can select a vanilla profile, a modded profile, a Forge profile, or even a LiteLoader profile! It will also detect Technic mod packs and ATLauncher instances.
Note: if you double click on the installer, and it opens in WinRAR (or similar program), you will need to right click on the downloaded file, and go to Open with ~> Java(TM) Platform SE binary. If that option is not available you may need to install or reinstall Java.
Manual Installation:
Forge & LiteLoader
You can manually install it with Forge by placing the downloaded file into your mods folder - just like you would do to install any other Forge mod.
LiteLoader is the same as Forge except you must place it into a versioned mods folder.
(e.g. .minecraft/mods/1.8.1/XRay.jar).
Technic
Navigate to .technic\modpacks\[modpack name]\mods where [modpack name] is the name of the modpack you want to install XRay into, and place the downloaded file into this folder just as you would do a Forge mod.
ATLauncher
Place the downloaded file into ATLauncher\Instances\[instance name]\mods where [instance name] is the name of the instance you want to install XRay into.
If you run into a compatibility issue with something, let me know so I can find a way to make it work!
How do I change what blocks are visible?
All configuration is done through the user interface. The default keybinding to open the user interface is J, which you can change in-game if needed.
It turns out that getting a complete list of all blocks in the game, especially when third party mods are involved, is a bit difficult. XRay will prepopulate the list with some blocks it can easily detect, however, some may still be missing. To address this problem, XRay will add the missing blocks to the list as it filters them when XRay is enabled.
It is very simple: I am not responsible with what you do with my mod.
Copyright
You may distribute my mod with the original links, and only the original links, on any website or forum you wish. You may not download and then re-upload my mod to any site without my written permission. If you feature my mod in a video, you must include a link back to this page.
If you're going to link to my mod from somewhere, I would really prefer it if you linked to this post rather than directly to the download. This way the user can download an updated version and read about the mod a little bit.
Are you updating this or we safe to say it's now written off appears there has been no updates since 2016?
That's very interesting. I'll see if I can look into this further.

Welcome back, AmbientOcclusion! Good to see signs of life.
As I am waiting for the HUD update, is that currently in a separate forum post, or should I continue monitor here?
The latest version is version 47. It was released on November 27th, 2016.
This was what was on their website
I don't see any working version for 1.12.2
As mentioned before - although website only show version 47.. this was the last version of the mod to be classed as 'Stable'
The one mentioned by Cap in the post above is the latest 'Beta' version (which IMHO is pretty stable) which does work up to 1.12.1. The developer just hasn't updated the website to show the latest BETA version
There currently has been NO updated version for 1.12.2 atm as the developer has been busy IRL with college (I Think)

Uranium Ore 167
Iridium Ore 6766
Cobalt Ore 1619:1
Using 1.7.10 FTB Infinity these blocks do not show up, and do not populate in the Xray list.

OMG you finally replied
Thx for the signal. Can you release a dev build once you fixed 1.12.2 ?
why a dev build and not a regular build? because in clash royale dev builds were only for youtubers... i dont really understand
just a early release before the big update.
Are you updating this or we safe to say it's now written off appears there has been no updates since 2016?
Please help. Can't get this to show tinkers' ores in 1.7.10 (modded)
The last plugin update was on Aug 8, 2017:

oh ok
what is an hud update?
HUD, or "Heads Up Display", would be the coordinates and other information which AmbientOcclusion is moving to a separate mod.
