Hello! This mod update has 3 parts. #1 Credits Section, #2 Alpha/Beta Stages, #3 New Buster Sword Sneak Peek
#1 I would like to make mention of the latest edit to my thread being the "Credits" section at the bottom. There I will start listing all donors and contributors who have helped me trouble shoot code (considerably) or have given something to my mod (such as the Buster Sword 3D model from Tyrannos23).
#2 This mod will be released in two stages first the private Alpha Stage, then after some bugs are fixed, the Beta Stage which will be available for public download (FINALLY!) All donors will receive Alpha Access to MateriaCraft once it is ready (in addition to all those whom have asked for Alpha/Beta Access). Alpha Access is not donor exclusive. Any donation is supremely appreciated and motives me like crazy to work harder at getting this mod to full release, BUT it is certainly NEVER necessary. I just want that to be clear again. I hate of being accused of being greedy, 'cause I'm not folks. Therefore to prove this, I declare that anyone who asks for Alpha Access shall be granted access as long as you ask for it in the comments here.
#3 Part of the reason I am releasing this mod in two parts is because I don't want the full release out until you alpha testers have played and reported bugs back to me. Additionally, you should know that before I am ready to release Alpha Stage, I want to fully implement the 3D Buster Sword. I feel that the Buster Sword is one of the iconic things this mod will be known for and I want it to look and feel right in-game before release. Also, you can expect a growable Materia system (as stated in previous mod updates) and possibly the Lifestream liquid too. We shall see how that goes!
I hope you have enjoyed getting up to date on the mod dev for MateriaCraft, again, check out the new credits section and I hope to hear what you all think of the plans!
PS. Feel free to continue to submit ideas for the mod, I enjoy reading your comments and I will likely refer back to them later.
Hello, I just read the entire post of your mod Materiacraft and I gotta say... WOW THANK YOU SO MUCH! you have awoken the kid in me as i remember playing final fantasy 7 a long time ago and am in love with the story of it. this brings me to a suggestion, if you could consider doing a ff7 world like rpg type with npc's, bosses, and hopefully a square inch replica of the final fantasy world like all the sectors, the mako reactor, the chocobo stables.. etc. that would be even more epic!!! especially A.V.A.L.A.N.C.H.E. HQ I would be really honored to download your mod, test it and send you as many reviews as i can if you so would let me. again, thank you for taking on such an epic build!

FF7 has a huge nostalgia factor for me and many others out there too like yourself. That's what this mod is trying to do, blend my fav childhood game with my new fav game: Minecraft. I'm happy you are excited about it's development. If you would like to be in the loop better, be sure to join my forums page on my website (currently it is down, but check back later this week) Regarding your suggestion about building FF7 in MC, there is work being done for a server as we speak! Its a new work and it's not yet ready for release but it is coming! Refer here for more details on that. As you will notice, I am not the only one working on a FF7 mod. Although I am working on parts that Givemhell1337 isn't working on - like the Materia system and 3D weapons (although he may have plans to, I'm not sure)
This post is very well done, im glad someone got up to make this! Im a big FF7 nerd and has always inspired me.
Although im not looking to test this, I will wait , the current stuff looks amazing, keep up the good work.
You sound like someone who would like to join my little community! I start a forums page about it on my website. Sadly, the website is down temporarily, but check back later this week. It will be fixed and you can register and join! Also, I'm happy you like the post. I will be updating it more when the Alpha release comes. I too am a FF7 nerd! I would go back and play the game now if I had the time like I used to! Regarding the beta full release, that's fine to wait. Good choice. There are likely to be bugs initially since it is my first 1.7.10 mod. And thanks, I will!
Man, I can't wait for this mod to come out... There really aren't any mods that have much to do with Final Fantasy, there's this other mod that's in development, but they aren't going to work on FF in it anytime soon.
Also a few ideas:
1. Maybe add bosses into the mod such as the Midgar Zolom, the Proud Clod, and Jenova with boss music playing when you encounter them.
2. Random Structures where certain mods spawn, such as the Northern Crater with magic pots and dark dragons.
3. A new mode where you have 7 weeks to build up your armor and weapons and fight a boss that spawns on the last day to prevent a meteor that turns your world into a wasteland. I know the 7 weeks thing isn't relevant to the game, but one week isn't a lot of time to get at least decent armor. It's up to you how you make it, if you do implement it.
4. Maybe add materia growth? Like you can buy level one materia (take fire for example) from a villager for maybe 20 emeralds, but then you can level it up, like by killing 200 mobs with your sword to level it up to fire II and so on.
5. Add a new armor slot for bangles, because that's the only armor type they had in FF7.
6. Make mobs randomly drop potions and emeralds
7. Ask the maker of the chocobo mod to let you borrow some stuff from his, or start from scratch with your own.
8. Add Weapons (the bosses) into the game as neutral bosses that roam around, but when you do decide to fight them, they become hostile and are extremely hard to kill.
9. Maybe add new items that let you fly or cross water faster to fight said Weapons.
10. Add limit breaks as Strong buffs (plus 20 damage) and higher attack speed.
These are a few ideas I could come up with to help your mod. I hope you get at least of these ideas into the game because it would really add the FF feel into the game. Your models look great and you seem very open to suggestions. Thanks for reading my post :D.
Being brought back into FF7 recently and finding this mod, but as seeing the website is not there, is there any other way to see what is currently in the mod, what is currently a work in progress, etc? I have some ideas for it, but I would like to see what there already is in case it is already underway, and if possible, may I join in on the Alpha/Beta testing? I would really like to see this come into full fruition.

Currently mod development has stopped. Doesn't mean I won't start it up again tho. I'm just too busy with getting my TEFL Certification now.
Regarding the website it's not down. It's still working and I have a full out fourms page now there too! http://uberverse.net If you join the forums, you can see what my latest projects are. Currently I'm working on #ProjectUberverse.
Really want to see this mod in action! Loved all of the Final Fantasy games, even VII, and would love to see it introduced in Minecraft!! Been watching for one for the past 2-3 years for one to come out, and there finally is! Thanks for making this mod!
Very much looking forward to a full release for this mod, have been awaiting an FF7-esque materia/magic type mod for years!
Most of the ideas I've had for such a mod have already been addressed in this thread, lol...but as for the lifestream, what if it existed within/beneath the bedrock level? With occasional lifestream-holes in the bedrock floor itself, revealing a modified background that looks like the flowing lifestream? I was fascinated by the quest chain in the Millienaire mod that eventually leads to you blowing a hole through the bedrock with a specially designed bomb, something along those lines could fit beautifully into this mod I'm thinking?
I don't think mods are capable of having blocks/etc exist beneath bedrock due to the y-axis limitations in minecraft itself... hence my modified background idea, but I think entities can exist beneath it (if there is some way to make them immune to the suffocation damage?), so perhaps the lifestream itself could instead be composed of mob entities that look like the flowing threads of energy we saw at the end of FF7?
And just wanted to echo the ideas on page 1 of features that could work fantastically in this mod, but are already inherent in Ars Magica 2, Zelda Sword Skills, Thaumcraft, and the Advanced Lightsaber mod (similar coding for the lightsaber throws could work great for Yuffie and her throwing weapons?). A lot of things would depend on the individual mod authors, I realize...but it would be pretty awesome if they were willing to work with you on a sort of collaboration to help this mod realize its full potential
so are you still looking for testers because My friends and I are HUGE FFVII fans. we would love to help test and we know java. one of us is working for amazon right now doing some java stuff for them. we just don't have the time to make are own mods but we would like to help the mod community grow.
