I like this map mod because it's balanced, I find it cheap to have a detailed map at the vary start, and with this mod there is still incentive for a regular map as it's more detailed.

Check out my adventure modpack! 25+ carefully selected mods (Not counting Core Mods) and great for if you don't have that beefy of a computer. Plus it has over 2K downloads and counting so y'know it's good. Oh, and fully multiplayer compatible!
There's also the resource intensive version (if you can handle it) for a bigger experience!
So far, I am liking this map. In response to the poll, I would probably leave the GUI vs. crafting recipe in the hands of a config file. It really depends on the context of the modpack including this mod.
Okay, I'm using this mod with a few others and my game transformed into lag heaven. I hated removing it but i had too. It's way too laggy! Mobs stop moving and blocks take forever to place. Please fix this! I really like this mod and would hate losing it!

I think it should be both item and mini map. The way this could work, is making it so whenever the atlas is in your inventory, a map appears in the corner of the screen. OR maybe, add a second atlas that works as I described, so you don't have to have the mini map if you don't want it.
or on Curse Forge - be sure to pick the appropriate download!
Since other known issues will require much work, I'm making this sort of a pre-release with improvements and fixes for the main issue: the huge lag. If you experience lag spikes or slow loading of chunks, please open the config file .minecraft/config/antiqueatlas/settings.cfg and try disabling do_scan_ponds and do_rescan, it should help.
I don't know if this has been asked before but would it be possible to make a config option to allow the atlas work like a mini map? That is to stay open in the corner like a mini map. I know the obvious answer is to get a mini map if I want that option but I like the way this map looks.
I found a bug! I think it's a problem with chunks having been updated faster than Antique Atlas could register them.
I wanted to see if the Atlas would update with in world changes, and the fastest way for me to test that was to blow up the landscape. I was exceptionally pleased to discover, that yes! Yes it does! This is exactly what I'm looking for in a map, showing biomes /and/ in game changes? Perfect!
My take on the poll: The map should stay as an item, gui or not, the item part of the Atlas should stay. I do have /one/ other thing to say about that though, I'm finding it extremely iritating not being able to turn or see where I'm going when the Atlas is open, would there be any way to display Atlas maps like vanilla maps? Like Bibliocraft Atlases perhaps? Likewise, on that train of thought, it'd be amazing if the Antique Atlas could support it's own version of the waypoint compass, or if the Antique Atlas required empty maps to work (used every x amount of chunks), to be drawn from the player's inventory or an atlas inventory slot.
I'm afraid I'm going to have to disappoint you, John_Murdock, because it doesn't really update the map except for two very special cases. In your case it was the lava that came to the surface that triggered the update. Another case would be a change in surface water, like if you dug up or drained a sufficiently large pond.
So, was that the bug? I'm afraid it wasn't clear from your message.
Thanks for the interesting suggestions. Can't promise when I'll get to work on them though.
Oh. Well. If the atlas doesn't update out of those two conditions, then there isn't a bug. Since I thought the atlas updates outside those two conditions, I thought the lack of the map updating was a bug.
I voted to have both item and gui. The way I propose it to work is that you must have the Atlas in your hot bar for the gui map to be visible. And of course, a configuration option to enable/disable it.
My reasoning for it is that is a middle ground between the balancing issue (crafting it) and the annoyance of having to open the atlas every so often.
Of course, you willstill need to open the atlas to add waypoints/markers, take notes, etc.
I want to report some sort of bug. When i right click the empty antique atlas it gives me Antique Atlas #0, ok until now but when i open the altas my game crashes. I have some mods installed: thaumcraft, ancient warfare, carpenters blocks, optifine, pam's harvestcraft, nei, millenaire, forestry, tinkers construct, spice of life, doggy talents. And here it is the crash report http://pastebin.com/qPKrSzyj
Hi CostyGP, according to the crash log, you are playing Minecraft 1.7.10 with Antique Atlas made for version 1.7.2, which is most likely the cause of the crash. Please pick the appropriate mod download, the MC version is always in the mod file name.
So, I've downloaded the BoP addon that you have, after replacing files (and even editing it to make Realistic World Gen work), I have found a rather blatant issue. When ever I load Minecraft, the biome_textures.json file refreshes so none of the changes stick. I'm running Minecraft 1.7.10 with your mod as well as BoP with the Antique Atlas BoP addon, any suggestions?
I would suggest you manually edit the biome_textures.json file after it refreshes again and add the lines from the BoP addon's respective config file. It would also help if you sent me the fml-client-latest.log file located in .minecraft/logs.
So, I managed to add this mod to my modpack safely!

Take this as an honor, as my pack has over 250 downloads.

I had that problem too, but thought it was being caused by thaumcraft or fastcraft.
I hope that it can be fixed.
Is anyone still having the issue with markers not saving upon logging out of the world? Because for some reason I can't reproduce it anymore.
I made Moses Mod, Dota 2 Items Mod, Rings of Power and Antique Atlas.

Great job! Loving the new zoom mechanic.
I have a few suggestions:
* Descriptions for Markers
* The ability to sign it like it's a book so nobody can edit it
* That's it
Keep up the good work! I can't wait to see what else this mod has to offer.

My apologies for my late reply.
