You know, I really love this mod. And Mithion's a great dev, very close to his community/fan-base/cultists/...whatever you want to call them. Just had to throw that out there.
Now, if we could get the Grand Arch-Mooge boss......

Ok, I get it, Mith is working really hard on AM2. But seriously, it's about time for the 1.8 release of AM1 and The Flying Pig Dragon That Shoots Orange Chickens At You That Explode Into Cookies boss already. Seriously, Mith acts like Mojang updates their code and makes huge alterations every couple months or something. Even if they did, as a mod maker, he took a blood oath to give up all happiness and livelihood for the sake of the mod.

Forge hasn't even been released for 1.8 yet, modders would be wasting their time trying to update to 1.8 at the moment.
Edit: Since writing this, I realize it was a joke. Still, there are some who ask this question seriously, so I was prepared for the poster to be serious.
Optifine should work just fine with 1.7.2 without the need for the hotfix.
Wierd when i entered the inscription table its wierd i put in physical damage but i cant put in fire damage as a component its wierd and what are all these squares can someone explain this new inscription table to me

I'd check in the Compendium. Inscription table interface changed from AM2 1.1 to 1.2 I believe. Different functionality now.

Claiming that half the mod doesn't work is an outright lie. There is one bug that's impeding you, which has several workarounds, and doesn't crash the game.
I've already released several fixes which did improve the stability of the power system by quite a bit, it just didn't fix the problem entirely. You're insinuating that I haven't even tried, and basically insulting me for trying to keep up with Mojang's crazy update schedule in addition to maintaining features.
You're acting like an entitled, ungrateful child.
1.3.0.008 fixes the power system properly, along with many other fixes. It also updates to MC 1.7. Either update your server, remove the mod, or suck it up and deal with it.
Exactly this. There are some thing in 1.6.4 that can't be fixed properly. (for multiple reasons). Mithion is not being payed to make this mod for anybody, but because he wants to, and not because he works for you. Get that mentality out of your head and be happy with what you have! I don't think you even understand how long programming, much less modding, takes...

Try not to let people like that get to you... Many of us are very grateful for all you do with Ars, and understand that supporting rapidly-dying versions of a game makes very little sense.
The only bug I've found so far in 1.7.2 is an achievement that I get whenever i cast a spell. It stays on screen until I reload the world and will appear again when I cast another spell.

Thats not fair, I too was a fan and now im just getting attacked, Im representing everyone thats not been waiting for the 1.7.X but instead enjoying it as it is now. EVERYONE here was using it for 1.6.4, im glad so many people have clear update paths, I didnt think this many people would, its Not being able to store or maintain power on log off makes, flickers, machines and gateways not work very well. Does it have to crash to be considered a bug? if its not fixable fine, everyone is right Im not anyone, im just a user of your free mod that checked this forum everyday for over a month seeing if there was an update because I cared about this project. If we need to cut the 1.6.4 users off at the apron strings, but im the only one so shouldnt be a issue,
Sorry that it felt like I insulted you, I wasnt I was just deflecting some comments and I was a bit disappointed with basically a bad Real life week to ensure I cant help but sound pissy
If anyone still is willing to talk to me >.> , could you let me know any of the work around that I might not have thought of?

Perhaps I was too hasty with my response as well. I often forget that especially due to its closed source nature, people don't see what goes into fixing these things. Even if it wasn't, nobody would see the literal weeks I spent trying to fix it, then thinking I had it, only to have it break again in a different way.
The backport would not be easy, at all. 1.7 changes a lot of things from 1.6, and the power system was heavily impacted. Between the time and effort it would take, as well as the testing, it wouldn't be worth it, in my opinion. 1.6 is quite antequated by now with 1.8 being out. Like I said, I want to have fun with this too. Otherwise, why bother doing it?
The workaround people are suggesting is to use three main mana batteries: one for light, one for neutral, and one for dark. Store all your power in them, and before you log off, pick them up. They store the power in the item stack, and all you have to do when you log in, is place them down and reconnect them. Still tedious, but at least you can amass some power and keep it.
I'm sorry you had a rough week. I hope the next one is better.
If you have Railcraft, you can use a steel anvil for that. It also lets you enchant some other gear that an iron anvil doesn't. Sorry for the late answer, btw. Just now noticed nobody ever gave you one.

First of all, you are theman for creating one of the best, funnest mods out there. I've been a fan of yours since I found your mod back in the AM1 days. And everything you've done with the mod since has only heightened my respect for you and your work. So ya, well done dude. Kudos for life. I probably should have sent my regards in my first post here, but I was too concerned about helping people get the mod working with Optifine, and it slipped my mind. Thanks for all the time and hard work you put into THE GREATEST MOD OF ALL TIME, BABY!
Also, side-kudos and thanks to Malexion,Transcendence, and now Zerodaimaru for all their work/time/help with the mod.
That being said, just remember all that rage was born out of love for your magnificent creation. Although I'm a little sad to hear the news about 1.6.4, my mind can now only focus on finding a solution to this dilemma, and I could use a little advice here. If I were to rollback to AM2 v1.1.2b after running a server using v1.2.X for a couple months, would there be any major problems in transition (other than the obvious block and item discrepencies)? Note that we do have a witchwood forest biome just outside our settlement. I'm concerned about details like player skills, magic levels, etc. I'm posing this question to anybody out there with some insight on the matter. I mainly just don't want to break anything beyond repair, I'm trying to do what's best for my players here.
On a side note, to those of you putting people down for not updating to 1.7.X: Just don't. You're not helping anything or anybody with that attitude. We all know how ridiculous Mojang is with updates, and the id system change in 1.7 was a doozy. You may be willing to drop mods from your server all willy nilly, but some of us are just too loyal to do so. Ars Magica, for example, is one of the mods that makes up the backbone of my server, and I would never get rid of something I love so much just to update Minecraft. If any of our backbone mods happen to die instead of updating to 1.8, I will mourn their death and move on. But in the meantime, I will not give up on the mods I love.
tl;dr: Don't bother, this post wasn't meant for you if you couldn't even read it.

Thanks mithion, I am sorry, I really appreciate your work, I am going to make this work, ill get those hold outs to get going ( this did inspire me to look into my 100+ mods and see what was out there for 1.7.2 and 1.7.10, all but 4 of my favorites are 1.7.2 at least, and in total id say 80/110 are 1.7.x . )
Does ANYONE know how compatible 1.7.2 mods are with 1.7.10? some work on 1.7.10 i know but is this uncommon? a few ones I was looking at skipped 1.7.2.
Not to sound ungrateful, as I'm quite happy to see a 1.7.2 release, but do we have an idea of if 1.7.10 will be following soon after? I know during the AMA he said it was primarily waiting on the Animation API and I've heard that the changes from versions are either minimal or absurd depending on the source. Only reason I wouldn't just go back to 1.7.2 is AE2 auto crafting. Once you've had it.... you just can't go back. Not looking for a definitive date, more like... is this one of those mods that it's tough for the additional changes? Or mabe a little faster?

If you have read any of the previous posts, Mithion has stated that he has a 1.7.10 version working with an unofficial version of Animation API, when it is officially updated it wont be long till the release
Great to hear. We've been working on our modpack every night for hours, but the large Ars Majica sized hole in the middle of it has been bugging me Be very happy to get it into a test version so at least i can play a little bit each night after tweaking other stuff

I've read many previous posts, if you haven't noticed it's a 307 page forum as of my posting and it's quite easy to miss something. Apologies that I read thru only a few dozen pages and didn't fine comb the other 300 until now. Thanks for the update.
