I'm having an issue where some gui's (like the occulus,inscription table,thaumonomicon,furnace,nei,and crafting tables) are not showing up properly and whenever that gui isn't showing up properly it drops my fps to 0 and everything lags really badly in the game, and what's even stranger is that it is random: sometimes the occulus doesn't show up corrrectly then i close minecraft and open it again the occulus is fine but now the inscription table gui doesn't show up properly
i don't know but i think it is optifine not sure though
oh and by doesn't show up correctly i mean that the background becomes transparent or it says "Mojang" same as the one where the game loads
and when i try to take a screenshot the game instantly closes, when that gui issue happens it doesnt crash it just says :"Minecraft is not responding" and i have to close it

Type "/amuicfg" in-game. The configuration UI will open. Where your inventory normally is, there will be a button labeled "options".
Click options and it will expand into multiple buttons. You're looking for the one called "Show Numerics" Click that, then click options again to close it (or hit ESC). Hit ESC one more time to return to the game.

Healing applies a powerful heal to you when your health is below 25% (subject to cooldown)
Recoil flings anything that damages you backwards with a great deal of force.
Freedom of Movement will prevent any effects that would slow you down from applying.
Light Step creates lights in dark areas while moving (if the light level is low enough for monsters to spawn).
Ran into a couple of issues upgrading. Regarding the optifine fix, is it really just a matter of copying the contents of that .7z into the optifine archive in my mods folder? Reading about the issue, it sounded like some of the shader modifications were being overwritten by optifine code, which implied to me that I should have expected to be copying over some existing optifine classes or something. When I saw it was just going to create new files in the archive I thought maybe the architecture of optifine had changed since that fix, seeing as it was pretty old. But on this thread, it seemed to still fix the issue. Just thought I'd get some clarification since I know very little about minecraft modding.
My other problem is a crash upon loading an existing world. Last night I found an issue on github which seemed extremely similar, which I believe was closed. I'll have to wait until this evening when I'm off work to post the exact error and associated issue. It seemed to be a problem loading up spell icons from a non-default minecraft directory. Unfortunately, without the exact error text in front of me, I'm having a hard time locating it.
If the problem is loading spell icons, any idea how I may deal with it? I think optifine was crashing my server, so I split my client into another directory. Is there an easier way to handle that? Otherwise, if I just want to play for now, how do I identify the item ids for spells in my inventory for removal via NBTedit?
I installed AM2 v1.2.0.019 with this play-through and have really been enjoying it so I wanted to say thanks for that. A lot of the systems seem to work smoother and more intuitive. I did have one issue with the newer mechanics for transferring power between a nexus and a battery.
Issue: Initially pairing the neutral, dark and light versions of the Nexus to a battery works great. I have no trouble connecting the nexus to the battery and the battery to everything else from that point. Power appears to flow between them correctly, but this pairing doesn't seem to last between play sessions. As soon as I shut down the game and restart it every link is broken again. Is this a known issue with the new setup or am I doing something incorrect?

It was a know issue with that version of the mod. You're 3 versions behind. One of the recent updates fixed that issue.
I like this mod. But the problem is there's no nexi, chalks and many other items like sigils for me.. Could somebody help me?
Are you on a version greater than 1.1.2? Those items no longer exist. You may have to go into the config files for your Arcane Compendium and unlock everything to see all the new changes. I remember it was having issues retroactively unlocking things.
i made a projectile magic spell and im far enough in ars magica 2 (well as far as im currently able to get) and i would like to make a new one that dose more damage. what do i do to make a spell do more damage? is it something i unlock in the oculus?
also i have dart craft and have captured a flicker in a jar. its the only way i can get close to them. i think it is an ender flicker as i recall. when i let it out how do i turn it into one of those gem things i saw? my compendium keeps resetting and i don't know how to unlock the pages about flickers.
I have to say I'm a little confused with the spell strengths in this 1.2 version. I created a new world and made myself an AOE projectile grow spell. From what Im observing, it seems to be acting in the "diminished" capacity. If aiming at the ground, it would appear that things will grow after a number of shots and it's only a one block radius? How do I change it to it's a higher AOE radius as in a 3x3?

Heal/Regeneration has been nerfed. You can only have one or the other, not both. At least, not in the beginning as far as I know. This has been brought up I don't know how many times in this thread in very recent memory.

I just thought to mention this, I'm having a problem on a server where my compendium resets when I log out. Is there anything I can do to fix this? The server is a version behind on this mod, but I don't see this mentioned in the changelogs, so I felt like mentioning it. I know it was mentioned before but it was quite a while ago. I would probably miss it if I looked for it.
Well, I decided to back out my attempted reconciliation of the old/new config id's and deal with the blocks/item mixups. This fixed my spell icons crashing the game, so I must have screwed up something.
Also, spell grammar question for anyone who knows. I know you can have only one contingency spell active at a time, but since it casts other spells, is there anything that prevents you from nesting contingencies? If the contingency was simple, I expect you could create quite a few layers. In addition, is there anything stopping you from casting contingencies on opponents?

Recoil:not sure but i think it is like thorns enchant
Freedom of Movement:nothing can alter how you move which means spells like entangle wont work on you

New version removed Nexi, all but 1 chalk, and sigils were replaced with tiny fairy-like creatures.
The OP has a changelog you could look at. Just saying

Yep, there is a damage modifier.

You have to unlock it in the compendium first.
