I just openend up beta 8 for testing. Just a word of warning - this update WILL break all your current foci.
I'm currently in the process of updating to MC 1.12 so the next beta version (6.1 Beta 9) will be for that. I am also pre-emptively preparing my mod for the 1.13 update by 'flattening' out blocks and such. This means you will probably not be able to update from your 1.10 saves to 1.12 - at least not without some weirdness.

Same here. It's part of why I go months or years between playing at all. I just hope Azanor sticks with 1.12 for long enough to get a stable version, which is probably likely since 1.13 has to first you know... come out, then Forge needs to update (will take longer this time around, too), then mods need to update, then bugs need to be fixed....!!

I'm just about done.
Yeah, that's why I spend some quality time in creative mode now when I start a new world. Basic farms, mob grinder, stairs down to bedrock, etc
I'm absolutely in love with TC6's Auramancy system!!! And the whole quest feeling of progression in this version is the best. Definitely my favorite version yet. However, I've been messing around with the Focal Manipulator in a creative test world and I'm having trouble understanding how the Split and Scatter modifiers work. I assume I could them to make some sort of chain lightning style spell, but I can't figure it out. Anyone care to explain?
Also, some suggestions, if I may? Sorry if anyone else has already suggested any of these...
-Shock Focus Effect. Somewhat achieved by the Bolt Medium, but has no corresponding elemental effect. Perhaps the shock effect has a chance to make enemies drop their held items? Or a % chance to jump to a nearby target?
-Light Focus Effect. Creates a temporary invisible light source when impacting a block, similar to those generated by the Arcane Lamp, but they will fade away after an amount of time. Applies the vanilla Glowing status effect to hit enemies. Duration affects both how long the light sources last and how long enemies keep the Glowing status.
-Beam/Stream Focus Medium. A focus medium that allows you to create spells to execute as beams (Like the Excavation Focus) or streams (Like the original Fire focus). They would have low initial cost, but would drain steadily as long as you hold down the button, so they wouldn't be a one-click spell with a cooldown like most other mediums seem to be.
-Blink Focus Medium. A focus medium that allows you to teleport to where you are looking. Applying focus effects to it would make it so that different things happen when you appear (Knocking back mobs with a burst of air, setting mobs on fire etc.) Perhaps also include a modifier that makes it so that you deal damage to enemies you pass through instead of applying an effect at the arrival point.
-Warding Focus. I'd love to see the return of the function of the Warding wand focus, either as a Medium or as an Effect. Either way, it could interact in very interesting ways with other Effects/Mediums either way.
-A method of customizing the appearance of Foci. Something I've noticed while messing with the Focal Manipulator is that a lot of my spells end up looking the same, so it would be nice to be able to further customize the appearance of the Foci themselves to make selecting the right spell focus in the UI easier and faster in combat. Maybe make it so the Effects determine the color, but the Mediums and Modifiers also change the textural pattern of the Foci themselves.
-A method of combining Essentia to make compound aspects. Currently, as far as I can tell, there are Primal, Secondary and Tertiary aspects of essentia, but the only way to get Vis Crystals or raw liquid essentia is to find an object with those aspects. I feel it would only make sense for there to be a way to take either Vis Crystals or liquid Essentia (or both) and combine them to create crystals or liquid essentia of the resulting aspect. Something like the Essentia Centrifuge, but in reverse (Input 1 Terra and 1 Aer, output 1 Vitreus.)
MAYBE it could be KINDA done for some aspects, indirectly: make some alchemy recipes use component essentias to create an item with the compound aspect.
For example, Glowstone Duplication. I forgot how much Lux glowstone dust usually has. Let's say it has 1. Then it could require 4 Ignis and 4 Aer to create 1 net unit of it.
This way you could, technically, create certain essentias if you have to, but it would still be more efficient to cook items which have them already. And could be limited to certain aspects, instead of allowing the generation of arbitrary aspects.

Combining essentia was included in previous versions, and players didn't see it as overpowered, though opinions can change. These are merely opinions, and the word of Ro'Naza is final.

I just took the Minecraft Noob test! Check out what I scored. Think you can beat me?!
its more a balance thing, some aspects need more ways to get. Aura for example is a somewhat rare aspect if you dont have additional mods. Only found on non-renewable plants. Yet is needed for focus crafting and other common place recipes. It might also be found in the magic biome but as there isnt one with in a million miles of my base I cant comment on that. I know the wisps in the nether drop crystals instead of wispy essence now tho.

you can increase the spawn chance for magical forests by changing the spawn weight in the config.

If I understood your problem correctly, you probably want something now that makes traveling to far away places super easy.
As soon as Thaumcraft is in 1.12 I would recommend Dimensional Doors. It is stable, simple and swell for traveling loooooong distances!

Yes, I AM a Vampire. Nice of you to notice.
Why is that box so big? What do you mean I should stop breaking the fourth wall?
Is the upcoming update Beta 9 will be for 1.12.2?
Azanor said in a post that Thaumcraft 6 is currently being updated to 1.12.
Wait. Does this mean, no more updates for 1.10?
Yes.
Meh. He could have at least fixed the alumentum before abandoning it.
This what you call: Logic!
It's fun, right?

Is not going to happen, if I understand Azanor's intentions correctly.
Said that, the essentia could use a major rework. 40-something types of resource to manage is "a bit" too much to bear.
37. And that's before any modded aspects.
There are significantly fewer in the TC6 beta... But regardless, I'm not sure what that has to do with my suggestion...?
Combining essentia sounds overpowered to me, too.
