An offline server is not a LAN server. Offline means that the server does not authenticate accounts with the Mojang auth server. You can put a dedicated server into offline mode in server.properties, but I'm not sure if LAN servers can be put into offline mode.

What version are you using? TC doesn't add "ore" spawns (metals). To be able to make thaumium (the TC metal) requires research.
Now if your talking about brass, you'll need another mod that adds copper and zinc.
Found a new crimson obelisk. I'm better prepared now: I know the mechanics, have a glass wall around the clerics, have name tags, invisibility potions, and a gravity gun to move the knights around without aggroing them (tested it on a test world, it works). The clerics are still beaming and there are multiple...
Anyways, are pech common? How useful are they? I also found a magical forest biome (same expedition) and I want to know if getting one to spawn is worth it at my point in the game.

Agreed. Thaumcraft should have a research fail-safe so that a player on a server does not lose their research when and if they lose their internet connection or the server goes into online mode.

This whole discussion was about Thaumcraft's save system.
Thaumcraft (your research and baubles inventory) supports changing your server-mode from off- to online mode, while Vanilla Minecraft (your MC inventory, your levels, armour, cats and dogs, achievements and position in the world as well as some mods that are using this save-file) does not.
Vanilla Minecraft supports changing your Minecraft name to something else, while Thaumcraft does not.
Conclusion: If you are playing with Thaumcraft, you should do neither of these things, because in both cases you lose stuff if you don't go into the save folder to change the names of those files.

In this case, Thaumcraft should support changing the player name, unless this is impossible to do with current mechanics.

I am using the new capabilities system in TC6 so there is technically no longer a save folder to worry about - data will be saved with the player itself.

If so, is there a way to "Make a new save" for peeps wanting to start a fresh without losing everything?

I have an idea for future Thaumcraft : A Diminsion of the Crimson Cult, their have a Village with many loot and a Castle, inside is a Evil Crimson King with powerful focus or somthing. I dream that idea, mabey this can be considered for future?!

The Crimson King should totally have a full Court, of course. Maybe we could get Robert Fripp to write some new background music for it.
The problems of people losing their Thaumcraft research and Baubles inventory if and when they change their Minecraft player name.
