I tried testing this myself, but natural aura pool, natural nodes and leftover nodes from earlier experiments kept interfering. I do not know any tools to custom-build a node, to destroy a node or to sponge out the aura pool(One has to try really hard to empty the aura with Foci, only the primal one has consumption comparable to that of things like Blightfall's anti-taint focus)
I presume that you are testing at least TC5...
If you have OP access you can use commands to destroy nodes or give preconfigured nodes to yourself.
In TC 4 the following command could be used: give yourself a node

Well, if you can create a command block, you can paste a script into it that will give you a node with any desired combination of aspects, type and modifier. Assuming the NBT data format remains the same between TC4 and TC5.

Except the Aura Node is an entity and not an item.
'zanor? Something about this?
Ok, I see that NBTEdit has been updated for many many MC versions.
In an SSP game you should be able to add this, and directly edit the properties of a node you pull out of the creative inventory (they're still there right?).
In an SMP game (where you can't add mods but do have access to OP commands), you should be able to construct a command block command using the data from using this in SSP.
Also can somebody explain Azanor's concept of symmetry to me?
It is absolutely crucial for Arcane infusion, but even though my aesthetic concepts very much agree with the setup even "minor" instability infusions have items being destroyed, which is ridiculous.

Consider the Arcane Matrix the center of the altar: Any item at x, y, z relative to the altar is balanced by an item at -x, y, -z. i.e. every item is symmetrically balanced if, on a line drawn through the central axis, there is another item an equal distance from the matrix an equivalent distance on the opposite side of the altar.
Empty pedestals must be matched by empty pedestals. Filled pedestals by filled pedestals (where possible) and stability items by stability items. Stability items can be placed in a 21x16x21 area around the arcane matrix (the spinning cube), that extends 5 above, and 10 below the arcane matrix.
Be sure that if you are using pedestals decoratively in your base that they are NOT inside this area.
Hi, I have a question about if is possible to update a world of TC5 to TC6. I have a semi-advanced survival with a lot of things, they will dissapear in TC6?
I will play in TC5 the rest of my life to dont delete 170 hours of work?
Sorry if I did mistakes I dont speak english very well

Where did you get it this detailed?
Now I understand why my Altar is awful. I sometimes place things in a triangle.

As far as I know TC2 will use a soft-aura-single-type vis system like TC2 and not a soft-aura-6types system like TC5.
So even if transfer of TC5 to 6 will be possible, it will mess up everything.
So hey, I've got an idea.
What if, To make a functional gateway/mirror/portal you had to first build a device, A machine that handles the gate network?
I kinda thinks it's a bit too simple to have a (Overworld) teleportation system where you just place down two gateways and suddenly you have instantaneous transport between two places of your choice. (You can't really choose your location in the Nether until you've been there at least once.)
So what if to make intra-Overworld travel possible you first had to make a stationary device that was responsible for 'slingshotting' the gateway connection back to the Overworld? A bit like teleportation works in HL2, Where they use the border world of Xen as a slingshot for their teleportation.
Seeing as the Nether is another dimension, It's a fair assumption that it takes less energy to travel from one dimension to another than to travel from one place to another within the same dimension. A bit like bending something in at itself being more difficult than bending it at something else.
So then you've got this device, This Dimensional Anchor that is responsible for controlling and stabilizing your gateway connections, And you feed it power which it expends when necessary to open, Close and/or maintain connections between two gateways.
It is the hearth of your network, The matrix forming your gateways and from it you manage your connections and the state of your portals.
One of the methods that could be used to link gateways would be to take two crystals and link them together, Then you take two pairs of these linked crystals and place one crystal in each gateway and its correspondent crystal into the device. Now the Device is aware of the two gateways and you can establish a connection between them.
Gateways themselves are mostly just a frame, Akin to a net that catches and holds onto the portal formed by the Device. This allows them to be relatively simple and cheap to make, As they do not form the portal itself, But rather simply holds it in place.
This also means you only have to provide energy to a single, Stationary location, And establishing a network is as simple as placing down two frames, With no need to take power with you or establish energy production on either side of the gateways to form the portal. Just place down and connect.
In addition, Running out of power by itself isn't dangerous, As the worst to happen is usually just the connections closing and having to be re-established, Very easy, seeing as that is already done from one place. Even easier if you have some kind of remote access interface.
Running out of power isn't advisable though, As when a portal closes without being properly disconnected, Things can slip through. Things that come from somewhere you cannot go.

It would be fitting to have more disastrous consequences consequences if something goes wrong, it is Thaumcraft we are talking about after all. What if the Crimson Cult has their own portals? What if yours malfunctioned and theirs somehow tuned into yours? Then you'd have an small army of cultists inside your base. Now that i think of it, there should be Crimson Cult bases in the mod. That would be so fitting, with randomized rooms like how it is done in the Eldritch Labyrinth. Then a key for the Praetor/Crimson kingpin room. Or maybe just a key to a researching room full of experiments and wicked Eldritch artifacts? Maybe an deactivated Portal frame too?

On things that can go wrong, There's quite a lot.
Power fluctuations could easily have a chance to cause your connection to 'jump' to another gateway, Switching what portal it is linking.
Maybe it might even jump to one you didn't make, Whether that leads to a forgotten workshop, Temple or a crimson cult outpost.
Another idea would be to use the Device to enter the outer lands, Using some ad-hock addition to allow it to breach its defenses and punch a figurative hole through to the inside, Though i'd imagine that you'd have to place something around the obelisk, Like a gateways version of the eyes. Perhaps it would even take you to places within you aren't meant to be. Or maybe somewhere else entirely? The outer lands were made as a test after all, What happens after you complete it? Mayhaps the obelisks could serve multiple functions?
Also keep in mind that a gateway is a two-way door. If they can get into your home, Then you can get into theirs and vice-versa.

I made a D flip-flop!
I believe Patreon donators that give Az decent sums of money every month or something have been given access to a very beta version of TC6.
Well even if there is TC6 stuff already, there isn't any point in labbing it yet.
So nobody experienced with Compound nodes?
I made a D flip-flop!

You can probably change that to Thaumcraft:auraNode or something.

I'm pretty sure Azanor has said that the changes are drastic enough that a TC5 to TC6 world will not work.
Plus the fact 1.8 won't work in 1.10 anyways...
