Now I know the odds of having a final thaumcraft 5 'bug fix' patch being made are quite slim now that Azanor is working on the next version, but I realy have a big issue on one of my worlds. In a build I have, I need to use quite allot of arcane bellows. 70 to be precise. And that is enough to make all the sounds struggle in the game for as long as they are being rendered. (bug fix patch, with maybe a new config to disable sound events for arcane bellows, idk)
So I was wondering, is there a way to remove the sound arcane bellows make so that I can avoid this issue, maybe with some kind of modtweaker?
there was at one point a mod that could surpress animal noises in an area around a certain block. wonder if that can suppress all sounds? Best I can say past that is decompile the .JAR and modify the bellows class by hand but that's a little bit of an endeavor.
PS: what are you using those bellows for? 35 types of essentia times 2 is 70, so I'm shooting in the dark and saying mass essentia management?

As far as I can tell, it seems to be occurring whenever a sapling (presumably a silverwood sapling, as I have a few outside of my house) tries to grow to a full tree. Thoughts?
EDIT: This is probably the case, as the game just crashed twice in a row, and when I went outside, 2 of the saplings have grown into trees. It DOES seem to complete the growing process, it just crashes in between.
Yup.
I have a smeltery all the way in the spawn chunks. Cobblestone generator and netherwart farm produce lava as fuel for the smeltery. All essentia goes through an underground tunnel to my base, about 1000 blocks away, with a large chain of essentia buffers. It is all chunkloaded with hopper-chunkloaders.
I recently made a 'flux free' essentia voiding setup, however for each module I need 2 bellows to overcome the suction of a regular jar. Now have that times 35 different aspect types, it does put some stress on sound events. Luckely I think the bellows don't have to be working 24/7, and I read just a few moments ago they can be disabled with redstone, and that seems to actualy freeze the buffer and muffle it.
Still, that does not entirely fix my issue but it's allot better.
I have a system that achieves a similar outcome (save for the fancy tunnels and chunk loading and spawn chunks stuff, bravo, I'm too lazy for that) without the bellows by using transfusers.
The suction from the jar will pull through the transfusers from the large amount of "buffer jars," and with a valve opened, suction from some crsyalizers with a restriction tube will be the highest suction because the jar is full and not providing any, pulling any excess essentia that's not in the labeled jar in the center of the machine into the crystalizers under the floor. Does a similar thing with centrifuging excess as well!

Are you using Realistic Terrain Gen? I was having the same problem, I think it donks with how the world tries to generate silverwood trees and makes a bad call to something and crashes.
What about making torn open nodes a portals into another dimension that have Eye of Terror-level extreme and dangerous permanent effect on the environment? And maybe using those effects for your own gain really late-game (that should have sufficiently high price, like aer-charged device throwing softer blocks around and giving you ability to fly creative-style in a radius of a few chunks or ignis-supercharged thaumaturge or item/tool/armor used by one could start randomly setting things on fire around t while giving the ability to melt half of a desert into glass and summon firestorms) or/and being able to somewhat stabilize them to prevent further effects.
The ripped-open nodes could act as a portals to the eldritch labyrinth. Or something similar, tied to the aspects they had.
You could at least try updating to the latest version of Thaumcraft before posting here.
You have 5.1.6
The latest is 5.2.4
Oh, oops, sorry about that. I thought I WAS on the latest version since it's been so long since Thaumcraft updated. I must have gotten my Thaumcraft version downloaded earlier than I thought. I'll update right away! Thanks!
I do not know why is this happening, please find the problem

Question: Are silverwoods renewable in TC4? Because Ive been getting a 30% return rate so far on a server I'm on...
Yes they are, if not from the silverwood trees themselves then from the pech foragers that spawn in magical areas. They can sometimes give you silverwood saplings when gambling with them.

Since there is an alpha of TC6 now, I have a question: will the new version be backwards compatible with TC5 worlds? Or will we have to remove the earlier version's blocks and entities if we want to keep the world?
I doubt it will be compatible. None of the other version are. He stated a "complete rewrite." Plus, TC6 will probably be for 1.10/1.11, so you will need a new world.
Yes they are, if not from the silverwood trees themselves then from the pech foragers that spawn in magical areas. They can sometimes give you silverwood saplings when gambling with them.
Hmmm. Well right now I am tearing down magical forests for saplings. Which I suspect is vaguely anti social on a server. But I do want to secure a good supply of saplings to create magical forest around my base. I guess I might have to trade with Foragers. Forget which kind do saplings ... the magic ones I think.
I guess, in a way, you're doing some people a favour by creating a shade-free biome that would be the perfect place for Pech to spawn. (Or do those little cretins need darkness as well?)
Yup. They need darkness. Same as wisps. (Both NEVER spawn on top of my magical forest mob grinder, but they spawn inside all the time)

So, I'm wondering. How would radiation affect/Interact with Vis? What would occur when the two comes into contact?
Vis does interact with the material world after all, so what would happen?
Would they annihilate each other, Or would one empower the other?
Nah dude radiation is a type of vis. If you install EssentialCraft3 you will see that . Magic powered by magic raditation which can be used for Thaumcraft vis via a plugin.
It's not really set in stone probably.
PS: I thought it would attach it to my previous post.
there was at one point a mod that could surpress animal noises in an area around a certain block. wonder if that can suppress all sounds? Best I can say past that is decompile the .JAR and modify the bellows class by hand but that's a little bit of an endeavor.
PS: what are you using those bellows for? 35 types of essentia times 2 is 70, so I'm shooting in the dark and saying mass essentia management?
hm, I keep getting this error seemingly randomly:

As far as I can tell, it seems to be occurring whenever a sapling (presumably a silverwood sapling, as I have a few outside of my house) tries to grow to a full tree. Thoughts?
EDIT: This is probably the case, as the game just crashed twice in a row, and when I went outside, 2 of the saplings have grown into trees. It DOES seem to complete the growing process, it just crashes in between.

I doubt it will be compatible. None of the other version are. He stated a "complete rewrite." Plus, TC6 will probably be for 1.10/1.11, so you will need a new world.
"We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far."
Hmmm. Well right now I am tearing down magical forests for saplings. Which I suspect is vaguely anti social on a server. But I do want to secure a good supply of saplings to create magical forest around my base. I guess I might have to trade with Foragers. Forget which kind do saplings ... the magic ones I think.
Foragers usually have swords/fishing rods and are quite ordinary looking. Ignore the blue ones with wands or the ones with bows if you want saplings.

How exactly is that supposed to be illegal?
