I imagine that I might make most of them fairly obvious. At worst they
might be vague. eg. "scan several things capable of flight" For some stuff there could be exceptions, but that will probably be lategame stuff.
I remember ages ago when knowledge fragments could be crafted into reserach notes. Seems as good a place as any to hide a few quest hints. Not fully-formed research, just enough to tell you that "among the faded scribbles, you can make out a... bird- no, a bat?"
I'd just like to say one key detail for when you eventually start working on end game stuff. Having 100% Warp should (one could almost say must) have some sort of permanent effect on the player. Something that, while potentially useful if you can live with it, could be debilitating enough to ward most players away from accumulating that much Warp.
My suggestion is to add a buff/debuff combination when reaching that level of Warp, which lasts until the player reduces their Warp below the threshold. Debuff being permanent Flux Flu IV, buff being passive accumulation of Vis (possibly up to 150). This would make it so that any players at that level of Warp would constantly be able to use their wand/staff/scepter for just about anything without touching the aura, but would suffer from perpetually increased Vis and Essentia costs. The justification behind this is that the player contains so much magical potential that they're able to draw Vis directly from the Eldritch plane, being afflicted with a perpetual stigma of Flux Flu as a result of riddling their body and mind with so much of the arcane.
Bear in mind, the numbers here could stand to be tweaked. I have yet to personally play TC5, so I'm unsure of how much these values stand for in the current iteration. I'd also considered making the Flux Flu into Flux Phage instead, and I'd like to see others' thoughts on that.

Also becoming ill as a result of having a greater magical potential than our bodies can handle?

This is good, except no Flux Phage. One player's decision to max out Warp should not affect everyone else they encounter.

I wonder, if a hungry node with the air aspect drain the aura of air, does a vitium hungry node drain the aura of flux? Or of ordo, fire and perditio, the primal aspects that make up vitium?
I'd think the aspects that make up vitium, compound nodes (even vitium ones)add the vis it's made up of, so I'd assume that it would drain ordo, fire and perditio.

I play only with the top notch mods only, which instantly excludes orespawn and lucky blocks.
I do think it would be a cool feature, plus with an Idea that I came up with (which is aura totem priority, totems don't draw vis/taint from higher totem's areas) it could be a really good anti flux setup, I think Azanor should add these two things in.

I posted a comment earlier this week, concerning an issue I had with the new version of TC, but I got no responses. I did things a little differently - namely, just took the easy way out and reset everything - but I still got an error.
Basically, what I did after I reset was install the recommended Forge build for Minecraft 1.8 (I think the build is 11.14.4.1563), using the installer. Then, I plopped the TC5 file in my mods folder, and launched Minecraft again.
The Forge loading screen froze up once it said "Initializing Mods Phase 1", with Thaumcraft specified beneath that. Finally, I got this error:

Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM warning: Using incremental CMS is deprecated and will likely be removed in a future release
An epic feedback loop happened somewhere.
Try with Forge 1521. If that doesn't wotk at least we know it's not Forge's fault.
I can't tell you more, because you didn't give us the actual error log, Jake.
Wait so we have increased vis usage but infinite vis? xD
Also becoming ill as a result of having a greater magical potential than our bodies can handle?
Great, now we're real Sith lords.

The idea is that while, yes, you do have Vis without having to touch the aura, it still takes a while to recover. And since Vis costs are raised, that means that you'll be tapping out your tools more quickly than before, having to deal with the slow recharge fairly often. On top of that, Essentia costs would be raised for things like Arcane Infusion, which the player has no benefit to offset.

Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM warning: Using incremental CMS is deprecated and will likely be removed in a future release
That's really odd. I'm running TC5 (and a fair few other mods) just fine with that forge version. Did you start minecraft with just forge before adding mods? It used to be you had to do that in order for there to be a mod folder, but I just do it out of habit now. I have no idea if that will help or anything, but it can't hurt.
i would see that you actually downloaded the whole jar and not a partial. as with slow internet you can download it and it will say it is completed but everyone knows thaumcraft is not 4mb. so i'd be certain that if there is slow internet at play to be certain the whole file downloads and not a partial that appears to be the whole file.
also run it in forge. and run it with your config folder empty.
So I can't get shaders to work with Thaumcraft anymore. Both 4 and 5. But I used to. ;n; Anyone know of a fix for this? Ive seen people saying and showing where they have gotten shaders to work with it before. Any awnsers?
Ive tried everything from allocating more RAM, to only having the shaders and thaumcraft installed. Nothing with configs though... im honestly scared of touching config files. xD
And playing without TC isnt as fun.

Yeah, that's what I did! I do it out of habit now, too. Granted, I've been pretty satisfied with just running Thaumcraft 4 up until now, so it's been a long time. Even so, I'm fairly certain I just did the following - as I always do, really:
• Made a new profile, with MC 1.8 as the version associated with it; ran that
• Downloaded and executed the Forge installer from the MC Forge file server, for Minecraft 1.8; ran Minecraft again
• Drag-n-dropped TC 5.0.3 into the new "mods" folder
• Ran Minecraft once more, aaaaaand that's where the problems surfaced
At least, I think that's what I did. Honestly, at this point, I dunno. Maybe I did something wrong somewhere down the line (despite how much of a second nature that process is to me, by now)... If there's anyone here who can make heads or tails of that error report I posted, feel free to chime in. Otherwise, I could just reset my .minecraft directory and try yet again. :/
Now back to the fashion GregTech. This mod adjusts world for themselves, complicating it and making it more interesting.
For the love of all arcane mercy, Azanor, please do not ever emulate GregTech. GregTech makes Minecraft more "interesting" only if your definition of "interesting" is "lots and lots more time and effort to get something you could already do". Complexity with good reason is one thing, but GregTech takes existing tasks or tech accomplishments and adds complication — or sometimes, just more grinding — to them just to add complication for its own sake. What GregTech fans call "interest", other players call "boredom". It's like making the Lincoln Memorial "more interesting" by forcing every visitor to climb to the top of the Washington Monument six times first so that getting to the Lincoln Memorial doesn't feel "too easy".
GregoriusT's vision of "proper Minecraft play balance" does not coincide with mine.

I think Azanor included an automatic Baubles downloader or something like that in TC5, but just to be sure, maybe try installing it manually. The thing might be bugged?

To be honest IC2 without GregTech is kinda OP. But GregTech in a nutshell:
"What 4cubic meters of Sand+5gunpowder is supposed to be TNT? nonononono you first need some sulfuric and nitric acid, toluene from charcoal, a microchip and some advanced wires, seriously gunpowder? What do you think Minecraft is? A kids game?"
I don't think any recipe in TC should be nerfed, but maybe the research could... well Azanor is on it I think.
Wait so we have increased vis usage but infinite vis? xD
Also becoming ill as a result of having a greater magical potential than our bodies can handle?
Great, now we're real Sith lords.

I made a D flip-flop!
This is good, except no Flux Phage. One player's decision to max out Warp should not affect everyone else they encounter.

I made a D flip-flop!
That's really odd. I'm running TC5 (and a fair few other mods) just fine with that forge version. Did you start minecraft with just forge before adding mods? I lurk a lot. If I don't respond and you want to discuss something just poke me with PM I don't bite.
optifine did an update for 1.8 and shaders the other day.....
so if you dont have the update id check that out.
something about the mentionings of putting stuff in your shaderspack folder and such in the changelog...
A-freakin'-men.
I think Azanor included an automatic Baubles downloader or something like that in TC5, but just to be sure, maybe try installing it manually. The thing might be bugged?
I made a D flip-flop!
Hello!
Somebody know why I cannot unlock Thaumium Fortress Armor? What do I need to explore with Thaumometer to unlock that?:(
To be honest IC2 without GregTech is kinda OP.
