The Shadow realm is basicly an 'overseer's realm. It's an identical copy of the phyisical world, but contains some exclusive objects/creatures that are invisible from the normal world. Beings in there can see what's happening in the Physical world without being seen themselves, hence 'overseer'.
The first cult to ever find that realm was the Shade Cult, who used the Primeaordial pearl's power to discover and access it.The early members of the Crimson cult stole the pearl from the Shade Cult and hid it back in the Eldritch, guarded by a being of their own sort of magic, which is where the Thaumcraft 4.2 story kicks in.

You want to be a dragon? Well, then you need to have wings, a passion to hoard, and have a deadly breath.
Oh, and did I forgot to tell you dragons are extremely territorial? ROAWR >:)
Ok, so uhhhhhh... I think I really am going insane. One of my own autocasters began to attack me. And I couldn't have just gotten caught in a crossfire cause it was using the vis shard focus and the projectiles were clearly locked onto me. Well I quickly hid behind a wall cause it kinda spooked me, and when I went back out there to dismantle it, it had stopped attacking me. I went to check to see if any of the setting had been changed (I'd be even more shocked if they were seeing as playing singleplayer and I've never even opened this world to LAN) and the autocaster was set to only attack mobs. I've walked past that autocaster a countless amount of times and this is the only time it's done that. I wish I knew how to reproduce that behavior.

Due to my snarky and sarcastic personality I can easily be seen as a jerk. If I've offended you in any way it was likely unintended.
You may have gotten caught in the crossfire anyway. The autocaster basically points towards the hostile mob and right-clicks it's "false wand". If you're standing betwen it and it's intended target when it uses a lock-on focus, then the locked-on projectiles will chase you instead of the autocaster's intended target.

If you're callin' about the Mobtalker scripts, I no longer have access to them.
However, it's been getting tempting lately to put together a modpack that includes CustomNPCs, so I could definitely work in something along the same themes in the modpack's quests. Feel free to give suggestions of mods that promote an experience which minimizes mining grind in favor of exploration. I'll likely have to include Grimorie of Gaia to provide good models (No I'm not gonna directly change the default mob models)
Too be honest I realy liked the old research minigame where you had to move runes in order to complete the line. The main problem was that it drained allot if ink and there were the occasional impossible research bugs. It was defenitly more fun that spamming two aspects all over the hex to connect everything.
I liked that one too. If only we could have both...

Long list of questions inbound: What is the maximum and the minimum of the size of the nodes spawned by silverwood trees? Is their generation completely random, or is it less likely to spawn as very strong/weak node? Is there any way to view the numerical values of vis in the aura? Do baubles and armor with vis discounts affect casting costs in regards to using foci? I was fooling around in creative and discovered an Astral Node. A node with the arbitrary size unit (is there a name to the unit?) of 500 or greater becomes an astral node. What are the properties of the astral node? What are the properties of unstable nodes? What is the most efficient or safest way to gain a lot of warp? How does one unlock the research for the biothaumtic mind and node magnet?
I, for one, would like to keep the current research system as making all those deconstruction tables is tedious and mass producing, otherwise unnecessary, items just to deconstruct them for research points seems silly. I'm loving the current research system, the aspect tree too. However, the aspect tree isn't perfect and has some logic kinks in it. I feel like minimal harm would be done if the current aspects were shuffled around a bit just to make more sense.
I would also like to see some sort of external indication on essentia tubes and alembics to see how much essentia is in them and what kind. Using an essentia resonator all over my piping system just to find where the clog is tends to be no fun and all work for little reward. A small update for just this would make a lovely christmas present.

You can see what type & how many essentia are in alembics and buffers by wearing Goggles of Revealing. Doesn't work for pipes, though.

It's hard to imagine being caught in the crossfire when there were no mobs nearby at all aside from another autocaster. The only mobs that are even able to get in here are mind spiders and eldritch guardians. I haven't suffered from any warp events in a while so there weren't any of them nearby. Occasionally a normal spider crawls over my walls, but not one has actually gotten inside my home. The only other thing I can think of would be a teleporting enderman, but I never heard anything.

Yes, armor/baubles reduce your casting costs. Stacking Frugal on top of that and using a thaumium-capped wand can get you down to ~20% of the base cost.
Unstable nodes occasionally change from one aspect to another. "Unstable" sounds bad but it's actually kinda useful to have a node that can produce every type of vis.
When I need lots of warp, I just run around the countryside eating brains. Bring your traveler's boots, sprint+jump everywhere, fill out a map or something to make it less boring.
Remember when full pipes used to drip vis? That'd be a neat way to show where the clog is.

-normal size nodes on the trees kinda rare to get one so not random but yeah its random.
-the crystals can put in the stands to display it in a 3d model for each individual type.
-vis discount applies to spell cost. so it would drain less from the air to recharge the wand/staff.
-not totally certain on the astal node.
-an unstable node will become a bunch of different kind of node types, it changes at intervals of time. so if you are looking to make a 2nd sun. you'd have to mix only certain kinds together so it would stay one color and not become unstable. nodes can be killed with /kill @e[type=!Player,r=5]
- as far as warp this is the fastest way:
/tc warp <player> set 0 TEMP
/tc warp <player> set 0
/tc warp <player> set 0 PERM
-you have to be warped to know warped.
What are the properties of the astral node? What are the properties of unstable nodes? What is the most efficient or safest way to gain a lot of warp?
Scan the nodes and it should say what they do in the thaumnomicon. I haven't scanned those before so I have no idea. I'm kinda interested in the astral node now, that one is new.
Lots of people would recommend eating lots of zombie brains but that's a pain without a looting sword. I found that capturing an eldritch guardian and slapping a nametag on them works even better. I've managed to find a sweet spot that prevents it's normal ranged attack from hitting me, but it can still hit me with the temp warp/withering attack. Runic baubles are recommended, I've got two charged rings of shielding and it completely negates the withering effect. You can also afk and gain temp warp doing it this way.

Well, I've put a lot of work into this monumentally large build, I suppose it's time to show it off. Sure, it's not exactly original, but I still like it. And before anyone asks: yes, this was done entirely in survival. Yes, this took a very long time. And yes, it would have been finished about a week ago if I just used stone bricks and cobble like I had originally planned. If it wasn't for the equal trade focus and magic mirrors I likely would have never even attempted this with blocks from the outer lands.

It's actually slightly less impressive when you realize I just copied an ocean monument and made a few minor tweaks, as well as using a different building material. Still, it was quite a task and took almost a week to get it this far. I've still gotta finish the interior as well. I don't plan on copying that part of the monument though. It likely wouldn't fit my needs if I did it like that.
Now to go rip apart another section of hallway in the outer lands so I can finish the interior. Hopefully this'll be the last time I'll need to go there to gather blocks.

is there a way to mix the essenca ? like how u make research points using the research table ?
No, it can only be broken down. If it was able to be combined then it would make getting rare essentia trivial cause all you'd need would be a few farms for primal aspects.

As much as it has always been stated, thaumcraft could use a good wiki. The wiki referenced to in the main page for thaumcraft is great, but still the pages lack detail. Like how much damage something does, what a block or a mob is named so that you can use in commands.
Which is basically because we don't have enough people doing that level of analysis and contributing the results. I did a lot of work on the Thaumcraft 4 wiki, but aside from more editors and experimenters, we needed at least one template hacker that we didn't have. The lack of other contributors was a big reason why I haven't kept enough of my own enthusiasm to start up a TC5 wiki.
Basicly I only know how to type text. So it has been bothering me for a long time I realy want to create wiki content, and therefor I would like to ask if anyone knows a proper noob guideline, preferably a video so I can see someone work on a page, for learning to 'wiki'?
Well, Wikia and its platform Mediawiki have a lot of helpfiles, which can be reached by way of the Help: special pages and the search bar. I'm not sure about videos; the idea of video tutorials for wiki editing makes me squint, but they may well have some. It's also helpful to look at the source and doc files for the existing templates: you can do a surprising amount with copy-and-paste, cargo-cult coding, and trial-and-error. (Note: source-mode editing in general is your friend, any "visual" or "user-friendly" editor will have trouble coping with templates.)
I did some CraftTweaker scripts for Mystical Agriculture. They fill in a couple of small gaps in MA, and also let you make or duplicate not only vanilla plants, but the blocks, plants and wood from Quark and Biomes O'Plenty. Also spawn eggs for most vanilla mobs! The scripts are here on Github.
Ah, thanks for explaining that! My apologies for not reading enough.

Because the Shadow Realm and Shadow Magic isn't the same :P. http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-mods/requests-ideas-for-mods/2577130-thaumic-vengeance-thaumcraft-4-2-x-add-on

For those wondering; the astral node works better during a full moon, the opposite of the sinister(?) node.
Would there happen to be any bored coders out there willing to take my ideas and make an add-on?

Very impressive, and even nicely situated! Well done!
Geographicraft (formerly Climate Control) - Control climate, ocean, and land sizes; stop chunk walls; put modded biomes into Default worlds, and more!
RTG plus - All the beautiful terrain of RTG, plus varied and beautiful trees and forests.
