Guard Golems with the Dart Launcher inside of a ward-stoned off area keep firing at the location of the enemy after the enemy is dead.
If I let them out of the ward-cage they will run to where it died, firing the whole way, Once they get there they stop firing and return their normal stationed area.
Guards also have a bad habit of running off and not returning. I often find my lost Guard golem just chilling out in the forest with no desire to return to his station. So I bop him on the head with a bell and drag him home. I suspect he either runs into an unloaded chunk or gets trapped in a chunk when it gets unloaded.

Known issue explained in the OP.
Try spamming one of your hotbar buttons (not the one holding the Thaumometer) as you're loading. You should be able to switch items before the game fully loads and get back in.
Found out that I wasnt scanning, well I WAS scanning obsidian, but it was part of a nether portal, and then hovered a little over to the portal block. Researching the portalblock crashes minecraft, and cant re-enter world :/
Yes, that's explained in the OP.
Like I said, spam one of your hotbar keys that isn't holding the Thauminomicon, and you should be able to switch items before the game fully loads and get back in.
Even when loading I dont have the time to click rapidly on 1 (not thaumometer slot). By the time I am able to switch, is the same time the game knows that Im holding my thaumometer. I can remember that you could scan it in the past, giving fire and the travel aspect.
------------------------------------------------
For those who dont know, dont press a key, use mousescroll, that does work. problem solved, never scan portal.
Spamming a different hotbar key does work, at least most of the time. The game loads your player, and the items you have before the Thaumometer's scanning method is triggered. There's an actual window of time you have that you should be able to switch items during the loading process and be able to get back into the game.
i dont know, if i should call this a bug report. but cinderpearl wont go into flower pots to decorate our homes. and it looks too awesome not to be used for that purpose.
edit.: i didnt really expect them to after the first test, but neither do shimmerleaf and ethereal bloom.
I remember this came up a long time ago, near the early days of TC3. I seem unable to find the post from Azanor I was gonna quote due to the forums poor search feature but if you want to be able to plant most mod plants (including the TC4 plants) there is a neat mod called Painter's Flower Pot that dose this, as well as allowing you to change the texture of the pot from any block. I like to use greatwood logs for my pots, or amber bricks for pots with cinderpearls. Anyway, the mod can be found here.

Due to my snarky and sarcastic personality I can easily be seen as a jerk. If I've offended you in any way it was likely unintended.
Exanimis essentia is giving me trouble. Apart from Wither heads and Dark nodes, are there any other items that give this? Pretty sure this question has already come up, so hopefully no toes trodden on.

I'm new to thaumcraft and I can't for the life of me figure out how to "combine" nodes. I tried growing a silverwood tree near another node so that they would "fuse" but nothing happens. The pure aura nodes stay in the tree and the other node remains unaffected.
Also, is there any way to put a pure aura node from a silverwood tree (or a node from an obsidian totem) into a jar like other nodes? Everytime I try the aura node breaks when mining the block that contains it.
Sorry if these questions have been asked before, I just can't find the answers.
If there is not a chunk loading block yet, can I suggest bringing tempus back for this particular item?
What about having some secret node research, only obtained with research clues from scanning nodes?
Anyway you could make Paving Stones of Warding also block spiders. I can understand this is difficult, but maybe you'll find a way?
Has anyone started a wiki for Thaumcraft 4? I'd really like it if I could submit info on nodes and such, but I am worried about ads and false information.

If there is a way to combine nodes, you will need to discover it in the late game. Right now I think the only way is with a rare hungry node, but those will do more harm than good.
For nodes within blocks, just enclose the block as you would a normal node. It will work just fine.

How would I use a hungry node to combine other nodes?
Speaking of hungry nodes, is this normal? I found this in my world.
Not sure about that, looks like a bug. I could be wrong.
You'll know what a hungry node is when you find one and it kills you. You can sort of build-your-own node with these, but it would be a bad idea.
Yeah, that node there was my first hungry node experience, and it did kill me. The top node in the picture is a hungry node, but all the nodes below it are normal nodes.

There is currently no way to combine nodes. Nodes have changed greatly since TC3.
Yes, you can move the totem and silverwood nodes in the same way you would a nomal node. Build the jar around the block that contains the node, tap it with our wand and Ta-Da! You now got a node in a jar.

You can't combine nodes. It wouldn't make a lot of sense with the new node system in any case.
It doesn't matter as much in thaumcraft 4 as it did in 3 though. Just move a few nodes around a recharge station and you'll be set.

Regardless, glad you got your issue fixed.
I had the same problem, and fixed it by using INVedit to remove the thaumometer (the crashing item from the crashlog) from my inventory.
i need to get my golems going and for that i'm going to need it.
It's not.

I'm in creative mode in the screenshot so that I could approach the node, but I didn't place any of these nodes there. Is this a natural occurance?
Not sure about that, looks like a bug. I could be wrong.
