cool! is the far right a crimson cult banner? if not it would be cool t be able to right click with the crimson rite to get a crimson insignia.
also, i noticed that there is not a lot of magic holding high level wands/staffs together and came new mechanic that could be implemented to wand/staff crafting, it could give a 5% discount to wand/staffs of just be needed to make wands/staffs past a threshold. it would use a altered wand recharge pedestal and would need you to add your caps and rod/core like normal, however into a new GUI, one on top of the other instead of a crafting grid causing them to float in 3d on top of the pedestal. you would then need to supply some kind of power (centervis or something) and salis mundus then right click with any wand to start the process. the floating parts would spin slowly as their particle bonds grow stronger before... POOF! in a flash of light of something of the like your new wand/staff is done. the Thaumonomicon entry could go something like... "you seem to have found a way to minimize the small vis leaks and inefficiencies in your wands and staffs by using some salis mundus as a binding agent and more vis over a longer time to attach your caps to your rod or core." this also opens the ability for wand/staff upgrades in the future, not that thaumcraft is that kind of mod. soz for the long post.

He needs your clicks to grow, so what are you waiting for? Give him a click!
I might as well post a few theories that myself and the people in the Thaumcraft IRC channel have come up with. Under a spoiler, of course.
Warp, as it has been mentioned before, is like a link to another world or dimension. If nodes connect to the heads side of a coin, warp is the tails, with the overworld, nether and such being the "Edge", And we believe that something exists on the warp side of the coin, and it wants out into our world. Unlike aura nodes, it can't connect naturally to the environment so instead needs to use people to form a link and they need to do it willingly. So it offers knowledge, a temptation to those who crave power so that they widen the doorway for the beings. People who research forbidden knowledge and gain warp become like a beacon to these things, like a pinpoint of light in a world of shadow. So when people get too much warp, they gain the interest of the beings and it offers them more secret knowledge to make them widen the gate even further. Then, once you are hooked on the power, it tries to get you to make a more permanent portal between here and there.
The crimson cult... These seem to be people who are afflicted with warp and are being called to open the portal, but lack the skills to do so. The fact that they drop void seeds despite not being thaumaturge's means that something, these beings, are using anyone they can find and offering the same knowledge. The same might be said for those who first built the monoliths: They were lured in by the beings and what they offered, built then opened the portals. Later they realized how huge of a mistake that was, then closed it, leaving the portals as a monument to knowledge that should be forgotten and things that man should not tamper with.
As for the Eldritch Guradian's... Most people seem to think that they are sent to stop you, to hunt down any who seek knowledge that man was not meant to know. But, with what has been theorized so far, either they want to stop the beings getting in and work out you have been chosen to open the portal, or they aren't trying to stop you. Think of it this way: Let us assume that the Guardian's are sent by theses beings, using the hole you have provided them as a way to manifest a small piece of their power. Why would they spend so much time cultivating you, letting you grow stronger, then try to stop you before you open the portal? Doesn't make sense unless they aren't stopping you, but Testing you. Pushing you. They need someone truly powerful to open the portal, and perhaps get around some defenses put in place by the ones who built the monoliths. The need someone worthy of their time, their knowledge, their power. So they manifest a bit of their power in the form of the Guardian's, so that you must grow stronger, must use the dark magics you have learned. The knowledge is the carrot, the Guardian's are the stick.
Keep in mind, all of this is theory and conjecture. I might be completely off the mark with it all.
Interesting ideas...
It'd be cool if the Eldritch were the people who first opened the portals, and set the structure for all buildings and human-esque related warp things. Perhaps the guardians are a defense mechanism left over from when the Eldritch sealed their portals. They are there to make sure it never happens again. And those who get too close to "the other side" get guardians sent after them. That, or the Eldritch ARE the beings on the other side. Idk, lots of speculation, it could be pretty much anything.... We kinda need some fresh info.

as far as ive understood is, that warp is more the mental manifestation of taint. basically similar to how sinister nodes and taint corrupt the land, dabbling in the darker or extremely chaotic parts of magic has effects on the mind, just as it creates taint.
regular magic isnt harmful. but when youre starting to create minions out of rotton flesh or are exposed to the chaotic magic of a primal focus or staff, it can have negative effects on your mind.
however, just as there are ways to clean up taint, there are ways to counteract the effects this kind of magic has on the psyche. hence, the soap and the purifying fluid, and worn items (the faceplate). imo warp doesnt come from a place, or through dabbling with powerful magic. but rather with the kind of magic you focus your mind on.
so I think I just found a weird bug with the infernal furnace. If you throw in dirt and gravel into it it'll destroy it as expected but somehow or another I managed to get dried dirt in my inventory (no idea where it even came from) and I tossed it in there thinking it would be destroyed like normal dirt then I threw in my iron ore and waited but I ended up with almost two stacks of nothing but dried dirt and zero iron so I guess the furnace turned everything I threw in into dried dirt....I destroyed and rebuilt it and it seems to be working fine again though
so don't throw dried dirt into the infernal furnace : /

Yo dawg, I heard you liked mining diamonds with diamonds so we put diamonds in your mine so you can mine with your diamonds while you mine your diamonds.
I've been messing with the biome weights after updating to the most recent version for what seems like a couple hours now, because the default values weren't spawning them at all. They either spawn too often and are very large, or they don't seem to spawn at all. Has anyone found a set of values that makes them just a little less common than the vanilla biomes? Testing over and over again is starting to get stressful.
Also, this could be fluke, but the weight values don't seem to affect the magic forest and the taint biomes with the same sevarity. I can set the taint weight higher than the magic forest and the magic forest still seems to pop up a whole hell of a lot more.
Yup, apparently the fix did not fix anything at all - biome weights didn't need to be multiples of 10 anymore, but weights under 10 was still being ignored. Good news is that after chatting with some of the forge folks I had submitted a new PR myself that fixes the problem. Now it is just a matter of waiting for it to become part of forge.
So for now you will once again need to set the taint and magical forest weights to at least 10, though they don't need to be multiples of 10. I'm hoping the fix goes through before I put out the next version of TC.

Well, just like vis comes from aura nodes which are a weak point in reality that connects to somewhere else and leaks in energy, warp is a sort of hole in the veil of reality. As you learn and use warped things, you start forming a hole. That is why warp points can come from more then just knowledge, and why the effects can be more then "Just" mental effects. There is a hole you have created, and it is leaking in chaotic energies from another plain. At first the hole is small, and only minor effects happen that you rule off as nothing but a trick of the eye. As more energies pore in, the chaos it causes can manifest in stronger ways. This would explain events like death gaze and sun scorch, since can you really call them mental afflictions? It would explain how mind spiders grow stronger with warp, they are trying to form in our world but the hole isn't big enough to let them through fully.
You mentioned a few ways to weaken warp. Well, going with my theories I'd say that they are like patching the hole. The hole "is" you, as you have become a conduit for these chaotic powers, so you find ways to contain this power(the face plate and bath salts) and close the hole(Why temp warp goes away, and why you can remove "Normal" warp).
You mentioned magic that uses more "Chaotic" energies. The question I ask you is this: Where are these energies coming from? The thaumanomicon mentions using the origin of magic, the void. It mentions getting inspirations from strange places. And the revelations hint that you see "Somewhere else" and have troubles comprehending just where or what that place is. My theories support all this, that the "Warp" or "Eldritch" side of the coin is the location of both.

Question not the mad-mans ways, for you may begin to see logic in his actions, then find yourself mad as well.
You may call me The Madman, as there is no name that suits me better.
I happen to make modded survival maps, if your interested see my latest: The Asylum
It hurts my head trying to understand nevermind explain it. Simply put, the Math.min(10, totalWeight - rand)bit was the problem as it returned 10 almost always, effectively "skipping" biomes with weights < 10.
What I mean is that if you are planning to change his aggression in the nbt, then your cheating. If you are going to cheat, why not just kill it, ignore any drops it gives, spawn a new one with spawneggs in creative, tame it and then it is not aggresive. Nbt edit is cheating, 'you' punched him, these are the consequences in my opinion.
Well, the NBT edit was going to be used as a last resort, but I agree it would have been easier to fix the problem with an egg spawner. However, the Pech has gone docile again so it seems aggression does time out, likely a vanilla mechanism. We notice though that it is very easy to accidentally punch the Pech when trading with him because it seems his willingness to trade will also timeout after an uncertain number of trades. When he is no longer willing to trade, the trade window would simply disappears and one is often in the middle of clicking that translates to punching the Pech when the trade window dropped.

And whats with the undead aspect of the guardians and Mr. Hazard comment to the guardian (had maybe nothing to do wtih azanors plans)
The undead aspect is because the guardian's themselves are classified as undead. All aspects are atributed to something because of the items that tend to have it. Perhaps, when exanumus was labeled it was misslabled by the first thaumaturges, Or perhaps the "Beings" enslaved the people who built the monoliths and the guardians, nothing but a ghost of their former form, are the puppets of these beings do their bidding. Or they are the spirits of the portal openers trying to stop it from happening agian. There are many theories to be made from the little data and information we have. As I stated, most of it was conjecture.
As for the guardians coming in late, Azanor might have tweaked things a bit to have them fit. Who knows at this point.

Hmm can anyone explain to me what the "Warping I" effect on every piece of void armor/tool does? First I thought it adds like a temporary amount of warp as long as I wear it but the sanity checker shows no difference
Basically when a warp event triggers it adds together several values: Your temp, normal, perm, and gear warp, then gives an event and severity based on this amount. The gear while you have it adds a few points to the purposes of the calculation only, so the sanity checker doesn't read that.

depends on the effect. id like to be able to go afk now and then, without the fear of dieing XD.
though im fine with severe effects, as long as there are ways provided to supress warp effects for extended durations. like making a bathtub.
as a general tip. i havent experienced any warp effects whatsoever in the nether. no idea if thats a coincidence, or intended. but if you have a base at your protal, you can probably go afk there.

My friend and I have been generating worlds like crazy looking for a good one we like. We have the taint biome weight at 2 and spawn_mod ( don't know what this does) at 80. We're still getting taint biomes. Extremely large ones too. They're not super common, but we get them. More than magical forest in fact which is at 5 and 80.
We're running biomes o plenty as well. A quick glance over our weights shows bamboo forest at 5, which we see often. Lavender fields at 3, Rainforest at 5; we see those as well.

I am playing the ModSauce mod pack in the ATLauncher. How can i update "just" Forge to add thaumcraft 4.2.1.4! Don't want to wait for the hermits to update
Excuse me, could I ask something with this problem?
I got like some dark spot when I turn into some directions, and some model texture will become black and white, as you would see in the picture.
The Manabean, the crystal, the chest became darker and turn into black and white.
This is awesome, keep up the good work!
In the future, could you possibly make it so you could put the aspect icons on item frames/signs?
