Anyone see an angry zombie villager? Also, are they also curable or no?
Not tried to cure them, because they are terrifying as hell.
But since there ARE Angry zombie villagers I assume they cna be cured.
Maybe they all turn into thaumaturges. lol
At the current state TC5 seems to be all about stopping your would from devouring itself.
If you leave a world to itself for a very long time with taint somewhere in it, does it eventually turn into complete emptiness with Bedrock and some lava?
What is the point of Fortress armor in an empty world... none. That's why we have VOID fortress armor. lol
We're using v 4.2.3.5 for 1.7.10 and since our last world reset due to some chunk corruption, we've been having some problems with specific research. 'Wand Focus: Warding' appears to crash anyone who tries to get the research note. At first, I Thought perhaps it was just the single person who reported it, but when I try to manually give it via the /thaumcraft command, I'm informed that FOCUSWARDING nor WARDEDARCANA researches actually exist .. which would explain the crash.
I've already tried reinstalling Thaumcraft as a whole (the .jar mod file), as well as deleting and regenerating the config files, but the issue still occurs. Someone in a thread having research issues suggested that there was stored information in the world's level.dat, but using NBTExplorer I was unable to find anything referencing either research.
It works in Single player just fine, so I didn't want to report it as a Thaumcraft bug - it appears to just effect the server.
Anyone have any suggestions as to what may be wrong, or what we can do to fix this issue?
Thanks!
sounds like someone skripted with minetweaker/modtweaker and removed the researches for the warded stuff, and didnt also remove the connections to other researches they affect (requirements that unlock warded arcana and the warding focus and the researches they unlock thermselves probably still exist and cause problems).
disable the line of code, that removes warded arcana and the wand focus in your skript. then disable warded blocks in the thaumcraft config itself.

You know what i want? No, what i need? A block that emulates total darkness.
A decorative block. It creates the optical illusion of the void, Its got two states: "Starry void" and "Utter darkness", The names are literal descriptions.
The two states can be changed at any time by right clicking it with your wand, But there must always be at least one side with stars.
"while so far you have been unable to replicate the total nothingness of the void, You have managed to create a substance that emulates its light absorbing properties. While this material is as dark as the void, It is also filled with small points of light reminiscent of stars. As you were unable to replicate its destructive properties, It is likely they are the result of the absorbed light being expulsed from the material. You did however, manage to find a way to control the direction light is released. Simply give a side of the material a tap of your wand and it will stop reflecting light, Likewise, tapping it again will return it to its other state. Of note is that there is always required to be at least one light releasing side, As any attempts to make all sides dark will merely return the material to its original state."
this is exactly what i thought when i saw them in the maze. "i MUST have some!"
perhaps having the particle/sound effects toggleable.
Is there a way to taint vis crystals or do i need to find natural tainted biome?
first, you need to either find or make a taint bloom. then you need to either find or place vis shards in it. then you need to place a focus modifier or node magnet and start sodomizing the local aura. the resulting flux influx (:P) will cause the shards to convert into tainted ones and maybe even spread.
I've discovered that if I get enough knowledge fragments to craft knowledge page, and that knowledge page would be something with per-requites (Primal Staff, for example), and I'll make the research, I won't be able to make the said thing untill I'll get the prerequisites done; and futhermore, I'll have to re-do the research once I've opened it in Thaunomicon.
This is no longer an issues since you cannot use knowledge fragments to make research pages.

This is what happens when you mess with configs. XD
I set the minimal Aura value to 1000, as opposed to 100. Then I found THIS THING.
Edit: Then I found the Herba Node... What.
Edit 2: Oh my gosh, Shambling Husk Chicken Jockeys exist!
EDIT 3 (amazing) : I found a Crimson Portal in a non-boss room in the Outer Lands!?
EDIT 4: I also changed Wuss Mode to True, thus disabling warp and taint... but even that proved to not be sufficient to keep taint from appearing in both the Outer Lands and the Overworld... Is Taint really that powerful?

as far as i understand, wuss mode disables warp effects and taint spread. but it doesnt diable taint from spawning in the first place, or from gathering warp. dont really know though, never turned it on.
Hi, so I installed thaumcraft, enhanced portals and the NEI addon mods and I got this error:

So, as with all Thaumaturgists... I've run into out arch-enemy... Taint... Though, I may have gotten into a bit of a sticky wicket... One that spans nearly 30 chunks... and isn't slowing down... Any tips on how to stop this plague from spreading or do I need to dip into explosives and make things go bye-bye?
Does anyone have some "best practices" or walkthroughs/guides for Thaumcraft 5 yet? All these stories about taint/flux have me paranoid about touching anything without knowing exactly what I'm doing. (Yes, I'm one of the people who doesn't touch infusion without a full layer of candles.)
I picked up the two researches that formerly applied to drawing vis from nodes, under the theory that since one of them used to prevent you from fully draining a node, maybe they would reduce the aura drain from my wands. Nope--based on their descriptions it sounds like if I even LOOK at a wand now it'll start hoovering up aura at a crazy rate.
In Thaumcraft 4, essentia distillation would be my next major goal, but since it has an unreducible flux contribution I'm unclear what I'm supposed to do to avoid risking world destruction. Does flux decay on its own at all? Am I supposed to keep an eye on the flux level with the thaumometer and stop doing any thaumcraft stuff if it starts rising?
It sounds like the best plan might be to roam until I find a silverwood tree and move my base under it, as it's the only flux-removing feature I've heard of so far...
Am I being too paranoid about this?
Some further questions/notes:
What should I be doing with shards? Harvesting anything I see? Only harvesting large clusters? Only harvesting them from chunks away from my base? Is there a way to farm them?
I see some (later? mid-level?) recipes require taint shards, and someone said these come from planting shards in a taint biome, but it sounds like taint biomes are world-destroying events if they happen, so I'm a bit skeptical about the idea of intentionally creating one...
I don't feel like the thaumometer works as well as in Thaumcraft 4. The whole "want to scan all the new things" part of 4 meant that unlockable research happened fairly naturally, as you carried the lens everywhere. Now it feels like there's not much point to carrying it around, which I suspect means that even if I run into something scannable for a research unlock I won't have the thaumometer there to show the question marks on it. Also, is there any way to tell what aspects you've already scanned, or what items in a chest/inventory would be scannable?

You do realize ruining the taint chunk with tnt wont actually do anything right? besides make craters? You need to cleanse the aura, and if you have done enough exploring before there is a node type that does just the thing. Not to mention a bloom that has been around for a while now that specifically removes taint. And while i have yet to play with it, I think a certain totem type might help contain it as well. Just, going straight to explosive seems rash to me.

Well, at first I would say yes, you are being too paranoid. too much caution leads to no progress. And in all honesty, some of your questions are very simply easily answered by your thaumonomicon. With wands, honestly thats what the totems are for and aura does naturally replenish over time albeit slowly, as for the essentia system, if your scared because its no longer a 1:1 conversion, well i dont know what to tell you, you wont get anywhere by not using it. For the most part this is where I see people get scared of thaumcraft. they get scared of something they dont understand, and never bother to actaully try to see how it works, out of what I've seen, natural aura dispersal is extremely slow, so would the flux in the aura along with it. and along with that, unless you are mass essentia dumping, your basic setup isnt going to destroy your world, with shards, they act as aura buffers, the shard clusters grow as they aura gains excess, and deplete if its taken, as for scanning, i honestly prefer it as such now, idk why you dont have it on you always, as its the only thing you can hold that reads the aura levels, going scan happy can take a long time and be extremely boring. especally you have already pretty much memorized all the aspect combos

Yeah... I'm running out of options, I've tried to contain this as best as I can. I've made well over 4 stack of Ethereal Blooms and the Pure nodes aren't doing much against the Flux against the air... It's to the point that it's raining Flux Goo. I've even gone into Creative to try and contain it... and only made it worse...
At the very least you should space out the blooms, putting them all clustered together doesnt do much, as they have an 8 block radius, as i was trying to hint to with totems, in theory, grabbing a totem of attraction should pull the flux into key location, where then you can have a pure node that sucks the stuff in.
Edit: while i dont have a massive taint field to play with, nor the time to make one myself, i can say that the blooms can be placed on every surface, to my knowledge, at the very least dirt grass sand and stone, your basic natural biome types
What is the point of Fortress armor in an empty world... none. That's why we have VOID fortress armor. lol
I made a D flip-flop!
sounds like someone skripted with minetweaker/modtweaker and removed the researches for the warded stuff, and didnt also remove the connections to other researches they affect (requirements that unlock warded arcana and the warding focus and the researches they unlock thermselves probably still exist and cause problems).
disable the line of code, that removes warded arcana and the wand focus in your skript. then disable warded blocks in the thaumcraft config itself.

Oh wow... I think I dun goofed... I managed to put an Infusion Matrix on my head with the following command:
/replaceitem entity @p slot.armor.head thaumcraft:infusion_matrix 1 0
And it looks somewhat intentional... kind of.
Edit: *proceeds to put a Taint Geyser on my head* ... *muffled gargling*
Edit 2: *puts on an Auxiliary Slurry Pump* Huh, looks like some kinda Thaumic Night Vision Goggles. Or something.
Hi, so I installed thaumcraft, enhanced portals and the NEI addon mods and I got this error:

I uninstalled thaumcraft and it fixed it. any help so I can have thaumcraft in my pack?
I dont think that's so much "dun goofed" and more of with command you can pretty much put any block on your head
"Who am I, you may wonder?
I am someone you know very well.
For I am every man you meet
and I am every woman you meet."
Don't know if anyone noticed it and reported it, but you can put a staff in a arcane worktable by clicking with it in a normal table to create it.
Hello again. I seem to have crashed. again. Please tell me if this needs to go in another post or not or if you actually know what's wrong. Thanks in advance for your help.

Why do you have deobf versions of chickencode dependencies?

For I am every man you meet
and I am every woman you meet."
