I installed this mod and tried to turn off the custom ores added by this mod through the geocraft.cfg. In there I made this change, 'B:GenerateNewStoneTypes=false'. To be even more sure that the other ores wouldn't spawn I also gave them numbers under each of those ores to 0. However they still continue to spawn within my game. I even made a new world to see if it would persist and it still continues to place the special ore.
Is there some option I'm forgetting to change to make them stop spawning?
Great mod LordBlackHole really makes customization of worlds much easier. Now we can have actual mines with hauling carts and everything (and them be viable and not for show).
I do however have one quick question and get to it at your leisure its not terribly important. I have stumbled across two different Kimberlite veins one every block of kimberlite had diamond in it and the other had no diamond in it. My question is since kimberlite has no real use is that a bug, will diamonds spawn over time, or is that just suppose to be luck of the draw like that? Thanks in advance and have a good one!
Thank you for the mod. I like the way the ore generation works and I like the different stones that you added (not over the top).
I do have one slight problem though. In my second go round in a mod pack, I noticed there are no naturally spawning emeralds. When I checked the config there were all the ores and stones added by vanilla and all the mods, but there was no mention of emerald. Am I missing something or am I just very unlucky?
I haven't actually gotten around to emeralds yet. They spawn through vanilla. Vanilla has a special method for spawning them, and I forgot to find and override it.

Did you turn off complex mines or complex ores? I think Ores is the one you want to disable.

Did I forget to make Kimberlite oredicted with cobble? The empty Kimberlite is intentional. Eventually I want to add recipes to grind/macerate/pulverize Kimberlite to get a small chance of finding diamond nuggets, but until then it's supposed to just act like normal cobblestone.
The Kimberlite's real job is to make the diamond mines easier to find. Same as the terra quartz blocks with no gold in them. I want to do more of these types of stones for other ores.

Huh, that first crash is kinda strange, I think it was caused by a really unlucky random number.
But there is a more recent version of Geocraft than that, 2.3.0. That's what caused the second crash for sure. The new version is a beta, so you have to go to Curse to see it. I'm hoping to get a another release out soonish, maybe this weekend.
I maybe figured out why this crash was happen... I changed the two modifiers D:rarityModifier=16.0 and D:volumeModifier=12.0 to D:rarityModifier=12.0 and D:volumeModifier= 8.0. Now it is working. Can it be that is there a limit?
I still are happy about your update,

That might make it worse, but I think the root of the problem was that in the end there is no ground, and then generation was getting very confused by that. I've added a check for it so it will give up instead of crash. It will be in the next release, which should be soon, I'm just waiting on some textures from my artist.
maybe one last thing I want to mention: I have really weird ore spawn rates in the last time, I don't know where it comes from but, I just have veins of only one ore... it looks mostly like this. But it isn't every time like this... some times (but very rare) it looks quite normal. It seems mods like "Railcraft" or "Magical Crops" doesn't affect this strange thing, but the mod own generation seems works just fine (partly).
The config options are the same as last time (nothing changed).
I don't know if this is a bug or not, but I want it to be mentioned.
Thankful,

This is an intended feature. New version out today, fixes those crashes.
2.4.0:
Improved config system. Is back-wards compatible, all configs will be automatically upgraded.
New stone types, based on rock types from Minecraft 1.8, backported. A word of warning though, these blocks with NOT be compatible with 1.8, and an upgrade will NOT work without special casing. They can be turned off in the config if you don't like that. Config name is "Plugins.MinecraftOnePointEight".
Mod compatabilties.
Forge Multipart: all stone types are cuttable.
Chisel: Marble, limestone and basalt can be chiseled into their ore-dicted forms.
Project Red: Marble ore gen and basalt ore-dict. No change to gems or volcanoes.
Tinker's Steelworks: Limestone ore-dict, ore gen.
AE2: You can now craft quartz seeds using Terra Quartz.
I like your amazing update, it seems to be a lot of effort... and exactly because this it makes me sad to inform you about an another issue...
Of course I tried to remove the config folder and the old version of RedGearCore, but sadly I can't figure out where this crash comes from...
I hope you can help me again,

Damn. It's something about saving the configs ........ I'll have to look at it later, too busy now. Hopefully I'll have time after work tomorrow to get it fixed quickly.
I'm pretty thankful for your help, but I see that you are very busy, so... may I ask what can I do in this situation for this period of waiting-time?
It is pretty sad, but I just installed additionally Brewcraft from you. (It seems it have some compatibility issues with the newest buildcraft, too) I will wait and hope forward to your update.

Yea, sorry, I got sick. I've been home from work for the past two days and my brain can't do math with this massive headache. Can you get me any more information about the Geocraft crash? Unfortunately the crash log isn't very helpful. All I can get from it is that something went wrong trying to save the configs, but nothing else, and I can't reproduce the error.
As for the Brewcraft bug, yes, it must be just an outdated Buildcraft API. I'll have to update that when I feel better.
Is there any chance that biome- or biome-type-specific generation configuration is added? As well as ability to set a "starter" block which is required to be found first before the ore starts generating, and it will start generating from it through the target blocks (replacing the starter).
For example of both features above: RailCraft Saltpeter generation, set to only generate in DESERT, has mineType of MineGold and starter is sandstone: as a result it generates in pillars of varied height in deserts alone, starting with sub-surface sandstone and never venturing deeper.
As well as "contact" and "contact-range" setting, like TerraFirmaCraft did and maybe still does with its sulfur and lava: so that the specified ore can only generate next to the specified contact block/liquid, or no further than specified range from it.
I was hoping to use this mod for just the ore generation and disable all the new stuff, but the config changes don't seem to have any effect. This is my config file:
# Configuration file
general {
B:GenerateNewStoneTypes=true
B:debugMode=false
}
genmode {
# Known ores will get their complex mine types. Overrides CylinderMode for the ores it effects.
B:complexMines=true
# Known ores will get their complex block and item types activated. False will use vanilla blocks.
B:complexOres=false
# Forces all unknown ores to spawn in Cylinder shaped mines. If false unknonwn ores will be generated like vanilla only ignoring height.
B:cylinderMode=true
# Generates trace veins for cylinder mines and complex ores that allow it. Only applies to these if those mode are active.
B:genTrace=true
# Uses a new spidery vein type for iron, copper, tin, lead and silver. Only valid if complexMines is turned on.
B:spiderMetals=true
# Uses a new spidery vein type for cyliderMode veins.
B:spiderVeins=false
}
level1 {
# Changes the rarities of ALL ores. It is a multiplier. Larger numbers mean further apart , smaller means closer together.
D:rarityModifier=16.0
# Changes the number of veins in each mine for ALL ores. It is a multiplier. Larger numbers mean more ore, smaller means less.
D:volumeModifier=4.0
}
Hi I've been trying to update my Geocraft but it's been having problems launching. So I reinstalled minecraft and only put geocraft in the mods folder after installing forge and liteloader. However no matter what I do it keeps crashing at launching the game. I was only able to get it load the game when I went back to Geocraft 2.2.1. Here's the crash log that I get:

Edit: I got it working by downloading ForgeMultipart. Not sure why that did the trick but it did.
From what I'm reading, it seems like it is looking for a class in a folder named CodeChicken, but I'm not sure where it is.
You say you're updating from 2.2.1, from the OP, I think that it is written you don't have to install RedGear anymore, perhaps you have to uninstall it before? I could be wrong though.

D:rarityModifier=16.0

D:volumeModifier=4.0
}
I disabled the new stone types, complex ores, and 1.8 stones. I'm using the ATG world type. Could that be the problem?
Also, don't forget to oredict with the stones from Artifice.
Did you delete the old configs and let them regen? Those values only effect new ores, the individual configs can override them. Although I've been meaning to change that since it's not obvious.

Edit: I got it working by downloading ForgeMultipart. Not sure why that did the trick but it did.
That is definitely a problem with the Forge Micropart compatibility, but what bothers me is that it shouldn't be crashing, it should just disable the multipart features. I'll have to look into that.
First of all, the OP is old. Don't trust it. Second of all, you DO need Core, it's just that Geocraft will download it automatically, and it will remove old versions by itself as well.

Sorry, I did not mean that.
I meant that because you wouldn't have to install it any longer, and because it *could* have to be updated, maybe the library just had to be deleted, for the mod would think that the version of Red Gear you have is the right one, although it misses some classes/whatever-you-put-in-a-library...
By the way, I thought it was a problem in a library because I know the guy that did the code Chicken libraries is willing to share them, so yeah...
I had not thought it could remove by itself (I was tired, and y'know, sometimes, I can be a complete fool).

Did you delete the old configs and let them regen? Those values only effect new ores, the individual configs can override them. Although I've been meaning to change that since it's not obvious.
No, I didn't know you had to do that. Now I've deleted the folder with the json files and let them regenerate with the same config file I posted, and the result is pretty messed up. Which entries are active doesn't seem to have any relation to the config:
Also, the only iron that generates is single blocks of hematite despite the complex iron entries being active, there are no gold veins (complex or otherwise) at all, and there are way too many diamond veins.
Am I doing something wrong? What exactly do I need to do in order to set up the mod to use only vanilla blocks?
I was wondering what do you have in mind for the lumps that we find when we mine certain ores. Trying to figure out if I should keep them or throw them away in game lol.
Hi LordBlackhole... it seems like charged certus quartz from AE2 isn't being recognized. I have searched for it's block ID over an obscene number of chunks, but I keep coming up empty. There is no entry for charged certus quartz in config/redgear/geocraft.
Can you comment on whether it is supported, and if so, then what can be done to reliably recognize blocks and repopulate the geocraft config?
Nevermind: This was fixed in the update from 2.4.3 to 2.4.4. Thanks!
Is there some option I'm forgetting to change to make them stop spawning?
I do however have one quick question and get to it at your leisure its not terribly important. I have stumbled across two different Kimberlite veins one every block of kimberlite had diamond in it and the other had no diamond in it. My question is since kimberlite has no real use is that a bug, will diamonds spawn over time, or is that just suppose to be luck of the draw like that? Thanks in advance and have a good one!
But there is a more recent version of Geocraft than that, 2.3.0. That's what caused the second crash for sure. The new version is a beta, so you have to go to Curse to see it. I'm hoping to get a another release out soonish, maybe this weekend.
That might make it worse, but I think the root of the problem was that in the end there is no ground, and then generation was getting very confused by that. I've added a check for it so it will give up instead of crash. It will be in the next release, which should be soon, I'm just waiting on some textures from my artist.
Nether Ores: Ore gen is now caught.
Thaumcraft: Made ore gen 100% less stupid.
Damn. It's something about saving the configs ........ I'll have to look at it later, too busy now. Hopefully I'll have time after work tomorrow to get it fixed quickly.
On initial start with an empty redcore/geocraft folder, all the .json files are generated correctly. Using IronComplex.json for my example:
{
"mineType": "redgear.geocraft.mines.MineCylinderComplex",
"properties": {
"spiderVeins": true,
"mineSize": 20.0,
"mineRarity": 4.0,
"veinSize": 8.0,
"minBottom": 0,
"maxTop": 256,
"block": {
"modName": "redgear_geocraft",
"itemName": "Ore",
"meta": 6
},
"target": {
"modName": "minecraft",
"itemName": "stone",
"meta": 0,
"oreName": "stone"
},
"name": "IronComplex",
"isActive": true
}
}
However, when I start up minecraft again IronComplex.json is replaced with the following:
{
"mineType": "redgear.geocraft.mines.MineCylinderComplex",
"properties": {
"spiderVeins": true,
"mineSize": 20.0,
"mineRarity": 4.0,
"veinSize": 8.0,
"minBottom": 0,
"maxTop": 256,
"block": {
"meta": 0
},
"target": {
"meta": 0
},
"name": "IronComplex",
"isActive": true
}
}
Any thoughts?
For example of both features above: RailCraft Saltpeter generation, set to only generate in DESERT, has mineType of MineGold and starter is sandstone: as a result it generates in pillars of varied height in deserts alone, starting with sub-surface sandstone and never venturing deeper.
As well as "contact" and "contact-range" setting, like TerraFirmaCraft did and maybe still does with its sulfur and lava: so that the specified ore can only generate next to the specified contact block/liquid, or no further than specified range from it.

Hi LordBlackhole... it seems like charged certus quartz from AE2 isn't being recognized. I have searched for it's block ID over an obscene number of chunks, but I keep coming up empty. There is no entry for charged certus quartz in config/redgear/geocraft.Can you comment on whether it is supported, and if so, then what can be done to reliably recognize blocks and repopulate the geocraft config?Nevermind: This was fixed in the update from 2.4.3 to 2.4.4. Thanks!
How do I get the ores from ars magica 2 to spawn? I've searched all over and all I've been able to find is 1 block of vinteum ore.
geocraft have texture support x128-x256?
