I can confirm the lag when connecting pipes or cables to a power box. Connecting an ic2 fibre cable makes my fps drop from 40 to 15, but it eventually climbs back up, but connecting BC wooden kenesis pipes to the box drops my fps back down to 15 and doesn't come back up.
Unfortunately, it makes the game unplayable when trying to power a BC assembly table with the power box.
Also, Lordmau, you might want to look at the last post in this thread.
I am aware of the horrific amount of lag. I said it a few times already, that I will have a look into the code asap.
It is not good mod why ??? 16 upgrade for power box need 16 mfe for recipe and full upgraded box store 3 Milions EU , 1 MFE store 4 milions eu
I didn't come up with a final recipe.
The MFE in the recipe will probably be changed to an CESU, since the MFE *gave* 400k EU before, instead of 4 million
Also, I'm thinking about doing this mod open-source.

Just one question - does the 1.0.3 version works with MC 1.6.4 ? I am preparing for upgrade from 1.6.2 to 1.6.4 and I just want to be sure that all mods will work after upgrade.
If it's a interaction with some mod, then I have clearly no idea which mod it could be.
My current modpack got ~170 mods, all of them running perfectly.
60FPS all the time, and one of the mods is PowerBoxes (what a surprise, lol :D)
Updated the server to 1.6.4, which meant updating a lot of mods. So i suspect the lag is caused by a mod, not the power boxes mod. I think IC2 is the mod that's lagging the boxes. We've updated to ic2 exp #274, but it could also be some other mod that i don't realize would affect PB's.
Any chance there could be a way to disable the output, such as from a redstone signal?
You can disable it through ComputerCraft functions.
Just hook the Power Box as a peripheral (peripheral.wrap()) and use the functions from the first page
I am doing a SRG-Build at the moment.
I will upload it soon, but I can't guarantee that it will work on 1.6.4

It does work for 1.6.4, not sure what problems people are having. :/
Is it possible to not have it be dependent on both buildcraft and ic2? For example, if you want to use it to only store buildcraft power, that way you don't need to have IC2 or vice versa?
The capacity upgrade will need a CESU instead of the MFE from 1.03.1 on.
I'm guessing you haven't quite gotten to this yet (downloaded/installed as of a few hours ago), which is understandable, but I would suggest looking at the box's recipe as well. Some time recently in IC2-exp (I suspect #275 or #276) the recipe for energy crystals changed to need 4 diamond dust instead of a diamond. Thus putting the MFE alone at 16 diamonds needed. Perhaps something like a hv-transformer and a cesu? I'unno, I'm not much good at trying to balance a recipes but 16 diamonds is a bit hard to come off, especially as someone needing as many as I can get for those big AE storage disks. @_@

AE accepts EU aswell, just saying.
I mentioned it a few times: It's not the final recipe, though this mod *seems* to be finished.
I still accept some suggestions for the recipes, but no one is really giving me some ^^
Soon, I'm probably going to make this mod open-source, so users can also commit new stuff (or fixes) to it.
^- with this, probably a build-system (Jenkins? idk) will come aswell.

I thought it accepted exclusively EU actually. Was just pointing out that the recipe had (unintentionally or otherwise) just gotten much more expensive due to an IC change. I did some thinking on it and since being able to convert back and forth isn't something that should necessarily be available too early on, maybe something like so:
It would bring the diamond cost to 5, over 4 previous and 16 current, excluding infrastructure needed to make chipset and such. It would make it a bit more obtainable than currently, but not overly so, as well as evening out the cost some from IC-BC a bit.
Considering the exponential nature of the capacity upgrades weighed against it's storage capacity at fully upgraded, it makes sense (to me at least) to keep that pretty much where you had it before the IC change in cost, swapping the MFE cost to an Energy Crystal. Would have it at 4 diamonds again. Maybe have the pipes changed to a chipset, golden perhaps?
edit: for some reason I forgot the energy crystal in my pretend recipe. although it is admittedly your mod. I'm just putting forth an idea since you said nobody else has.
Hello! Great mod! Very simple and will help me alot. If i can get it to work that is. I accidentally placed 2 of the power boxes together in my testing world and it crashed, Restarted and loaded in fine, Then tried to delete one of the boxes and crashed. I did this again and just decided to leave the boxes and placed another one down then placed glass fiber cable and boom. Crashed and cant get onto the world, Please fix?? Also when is there a 1.6.4 version! I think this mod is great considering how complicated it can be with the other mods!
Could you please send me a crash report of that?
Maybe pastebin or something.
Aswell, I'm working on a 1.6.4 version, though have to drop 1.6.2 (because of new features )
So the current version is the *final* for 1.6.2.
Not really sure if it is a Bug or a Feature but: If I connect a wooden conductive pipe to an output side of an loaded power box, the energy is going down. Even if there is no consumer.
Is this correct behaivior? Because it is fustrading me
Btw.: thx4 this gread mod!

This is BuildCraft logic, so yes, it is *half* intended.
Wow, fast reply o.o I was just about to edit my post to ask if there are plans for UE compatibility.
There are plans since 1.0.
But I never came to watch into it.
Perhaps 1.2 will bring it?

Ok, the fix is uploaded.
Sorry for the circumstances!
Love the mod...I need something that works with ic2 and buildcraft. However I found your cables to be way
to expensive on resources and it did not make sense to me why you need the power box to make the cables.
Suggestion maybe a wee bit cheaper and make the cables more universal so will work with Ic2 generators etc etc...any ways keep it up you are on to something pretty slick....

Interesting...
Well, but I'm going to change a bit of the recipes
The capacity upgrade will need a CESU instead of the MFE from 1.03.1 on.
(And compiled with SRG, hehe)

gK - wK - gK
hT - eC - dC
gC - gC - gC
gk = gold kinesis
wK = wooden kinesis
hT = HV-Transformer
dC = diamond chipset
gC = gold cable
eC = energy crystal

//EDIT: Quote from the main post:

Changelog:
- Power Cables (which can input and output both: EU and MJ)
- Soft Dependency on both IC2 and BuildCraft (The game doesn't start without both mods. Atleast one is required)
- Improved Power System
Expect an update in a few minutes

But I'm working on it, also (probably) contacting CrazyPants on that.
