Rails had their turn, now out to the Minecraftian seas. Out there we will interact with our boats in ways that we had only dreamed of and ways that we had never thought of before. This mod will overhaul your oceans and how you will experience them. Will you turn your shoreline into an industrial outlet, or will you take advantage of your nearby Seaport and get all the booty you could ever wish for? So go ahead take your world out to sea and never worry about a creeper destroying your rails and pipes again, but watch out because one day you might turn around and see them, the pirate mobs!

Source Code
And yes, of course like any open source piece of software our source code is available online for free!
Can you please add some speedboats, iron boats, or some more boats? Its a nice mod but it needs boat connectors or the chest boat, furnace boat and tntboat is of no use I APPROVE!

Of course! I've been planing that since the beginning! I kinda made this in a rush for ModJam this last weekend. Up next in my roadmap I'm gonna fix a few rendering issues and add docking mechanics, buoys, and anchors. Then in 2.0 I'm going to rewrite the boats so that it will be much easier to add different types of boats with different qualities. In 2.1 I plan an adding some boat linking mechanics. So yes! That's all coming!
Thanks! I always wanted to improve the boating system in Minecraft and I was given the perfect opportunity to this past weekend for ModJam. If you could vote for BoatCraft when ModJam voting goes up that would be great!
So... what exactly does this mod do besides add some boats?
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
[Scott]: Things I have managed to get in the last five minutes, in order of ascending importance: cobblestone, planks, lapis lazuli, redstone, gold, coal, diamond. VERY LOST.
I really like your mod so I decided to make a mod review You were fully credited.
Much appreciated! I began to fix your annoyance with the Vanilla Boats for version 1.1, in this pull request.
1.1 is set for release after the changes for 1.0.2 are finished, 1.0.2 thankfully only comprises of rendering tweaks and fixes.
Well, its a bout freakin time some one does this...I tried so many times and failed badly at making the furnace boat. Well, in my case was the furnace powering the boat, not much info up top, so if it does that even better. Also was wondering if you plan to do like railcraft and make boats linkable? Would be awesome.

I have a feeling you will love my roadmap. So the Furnace doesn't have any real function to it yet. The mod was made in a hurry for ModJam, but now that ModJam is over I'm beginning to stabilize the mod to get some really great more functional stuff in. So far in the Roadmap:
1.0.2: Fix the initial render annoyances/bugs.
1.1: Add Buoys, Anchors, and Proper Lead Based docking Mechanics, As well the Sailor's Backpack for Forestry.
2.0: A major rewrite of the Boat entity allowing it to be more easily pluginable. As well as including support for some of wood from some of the major mods.
2.1: Tank Boat, making boats using Tinker's Construct, and a modular power suits version of the boat. As well as boat linking and making mobs ride boats.
3.0: Blocks that will interact with boats. (Inventory, detectors, fluids, entities riding, etc.)
I apologize for the forum post not being as information as it could be I ted to focus more on GitHub than anywhere else.
Feel free to suggest ideas, suggestions, questions, or anything else to the issue tracker on GitHub.
Sometimes when you're saling your boat breaks and you have to swim back to the land to make another boat, with reinforced boats you no longer will need to do that, reinforced boat don't break
Powered Boats
Boats that can be fueled by coal or other power sources from other mods, they'll sail without needing to press W. These boats have upgrade slots, that you can place a IC2, BC or UE power upgrades, after placing the upgrades you can place batteries on the fuel slot to power them.
Boat Charging Station
A block that can charge boats with power upgrades in a 3 by 3 area in front of the block, they have 3 power indicators that show IC2, BC and UE power.
Path Markers
A item that you can right click on 2 blocks then on a boat to make the boat only follow this path.
Boat Filler
A block that can put itens in boats in a 3 by 3 area in front of the block.
Steam boats
Boats that can be crafted only with Railcraft installed. They need coal and water to run, and output a white smoke when running. They can receive steam from a boat liquid filler.
Boat Liquid Filler
A block that can fill boat's tanks with any type of liquid from vanilla/modded minecraft. They work in a 3 by 3 area in front of the block.
If i have more I'll post here
Edit: If you don't want to make the boat fillers and the charging station work in a 3 by 3 area, you could add some Range Upgrades to enlarge the working area.
Edit 2: For the blocks mentioned on the last edit, you could also add a opposite version of them that unload and discharge the boats.

Yes. This is coming in 2.0. Probably with heavy Tinker's Construct integration in 2.1.

Something like this is planned for 2.1, but in the fashion of MachineMuse's PowerSuits. I wanted to avoid an IC2 boat because I know that RichardG has plans to add an electric boat to IndustrialCraft 2. I has well wanted to do it in the fashion of MachineMuse because it allows me to do all sorts of neat things with rendering, power, and modules.

This I had not thought of. How about if the modular boat has a "Wireless Charging" or "Conductive Charging" upgrade and is in front of a charging block in will be charged? This will probably be in 3.0.
Boats that can be crafted only with Railcraft installed. They need coal and water to run, and output a white smoke when running. They can receive steam from a boat liquid filler.
I want to do this much like the Railcraft locomotive. I also want to integrate the Railcraft detector and loader blocks.
Add in a way to connect then so you could drive a boat and pull along a chest boat and such. That would be cool.
This ^
This is the main focus of 2.0. So yes. It's been on my mind since the beginning. Oh! And the rope you speak of, how does the horse lead sound as a connector?
You should add a new model for a speed boat or a ship and add a new crafting table for boats
I think I'll add ways to increase the speeds on boats first, like oars, then add the Modular Boat, in the fashion of MachineMuse's PowerSuits. Could you explain the crafting table for boats a bit more? Is it like boats with crafting tables in them, or a special new block that make boats.
Edit: If you don't want to make the boat fillers and the charging station work in a 3 by 3 area, you could add some Range Upgrades to enlarge the working area.
Edit 2: For the blocks mentioned on the last edit, you could also add a opposite version of them that unload and discharge the boats.
I like your ideas. You should post them in the GitHub issue tracker so I can elaborate on them and add them easier. https://github.com/k2b6s9j/BoatCraft/issues?milestone=7&state=open
I post the rest of my ideas on there and the status on integrating them into the mod.

Just a regular old Minecraft Forge mod for 1.6.2, go ahead and drop into your mods folder to install.

The goal of the mod is supposed to be the equivalent of Railcraft but to boats, the mod is currently in it's infant stages just coming out of ModJam.

I believe BuildCraft had some sort of solution for this. I smell BuildCraft integration!
This was planned I like the 3x3 pattern you have going, I'll definitely be using that! This block will as well be coming in 3.0
I want to do this much like the Railcraft locomotive. I also want to integrate the Railcraft detector and loader blocks.
