Hail the textbook, for the textbook contains knowledge and knowledge is power. Those who do not seek new knowledge even occasionally are likely to live their whole life in a state of un- fulfilling stagnation.
I am building a purely magic themed 1.7.2 modpack and am including Blood Magic as one of the cornerstone mods. As per your "A Note About Permissions/Modpack Requests" section in the OP, I'm keeping you informed so that you can break out your champagne.
I'm using the latest 1.7.2 version, and I can't get any LP into my altar for some reason. When I use the dagger it looks like theres blood in it, but it immediately disappears and the divination sigil reads 0. I cant get any other type of sacrifice to work either. Can anyone help me?
How far are wells of suffering allowed to be from their altars? I set up a big elaborate room for my altar, only to find that the adjacent rooms I'd made for the wells of suffering were too far away. The master ritual stone is 15 meters below, and 32 meters across from the blood altar block.
Upon further testing in creative, I can't get the well of suffering to work unless the altar is literally placed inside the ritual, and no more than 11 meters above it... Is this intentional? Are wells of suffering only supposed to work if they're underneath a blood altar? Because that's disappointing.

This sounds like some mod is messing with the player entity. What mods are you running?

The ritual has a range for the altar of ten blocks vertically, and five blocks horizontally. It is short so you need to think before you build. But look on the bright side, you'll never make this mistake again! Also, the ritual can be built above the altar and will work fine.
Sigh, when you need to answer the same question once every few weeks, you get tired of answering it and get a little grumpy...

I'm running a ton of mods unfortunatly. I'm a little confused as to how the blood altar works off the player entity? I cant get anything to put blood in my altar, but I can put in my personal LP network

Well, the altar checks what is giving the blood. It is a way to stop fake players from giving blood in anyway, but it has the side effect that when a mod messes with the player entity(Like galacti-craft does) is causes this to happen. We need to fix it on a mod by mod basis, sadly.

"Think before you build"? How does that force you to think before you build? It just means you build the thing underneath your blood altar since that is literally the only place you're allowed to put it. I don't understand what you're trying to say here.
Furthermore, "think before you build" doesn't even make sense at all in blood magic to begin with. What do you expect the player to think about? This information isn't in the game, nor is it on any third party guide I've seen. So where is the player supposed to find the information to think about it before they build? I'm genuinely curious how you came to that conclusion.

You can build the ritual above or bellow, it will work either way. Under the altar is not "literally the only place you're allowed to put it".
As for "Think before you built", I meant you should keep in mind where the ritual will go BEFORE you start building a grand room for the altar. Do you built a huge plant to turn lava into power, then forget a space to store lava or generate it? As for information, you can easily experiment yourself to find answers. Rarely do magic mods give exact numbers and percentages, as that ruins the mystery of everything.
Though I was hasty in writing that, I had a few other issues to deal with, as you saw in that very post and rushed through a common one. I apologies for that. But as I said, your going to remember that the well has a short range(For balance reasons), and build rooms accordingly. It is a problem that is rarely repeated.

Simple: One well can only fill one altar, but an altar can be filled by as many wells squeezed in range. If we had a large range on the well, you could have dozens filling one altar.

But you can already build a wide area underneath the altar and use flowing water to just push all the mobs within several chunks over to the single well.

Yes, but that is a lot harder then building wells in a stack in a huge area, filling a single altar to full in a second.

How is it a lot harder? You just dig and then dump some water down afterwards. It's no more difficult than building the altar itself. In fact I'd say it's far easier since it only requires resources for one well.

Time, and the technical aspect of building the farm(Not many people like building mob farms). Besides, haveing a huge array of wells would get you LP faster(With a farm you need to wait for mobs to fall in range, the field of wells can hit them all at once. NO MOB SHALE ESCAPE THE BLOOD MAGE!) You must also remember that the wells all tick at the same time, killing mobs much faster then normal. Consider what some people would do with that... Ars magica bosses killed in seconds.

If you want to use wells to kill ars magica bosses there's already nothing stopping you. And if you have the resources to build a bazillion wells of suffering, why don't you also have the resources to build a bazillion upgraded altars? I'm not seeing the problem.
This is an odd bug, so let me help trouble shoot. Does this still happen if you replace the efficiency runes with something else?
So I played with this just now after getting home from work. Behavior changed, but not in a helpful way.
I started out by starting the server and dropping an emerald in the blood altar to ensure that nothing changed. The server still exhibited the same failure. Following your suggestion, I removed the efficiency runes and replaced with just plain runes. When I inserted an emerald this time, the problem went away. I dropped a couple more emeralds in there just to make sure and all successfully converted. I then replaced the new runes with the original efficiency runes....and can no longer reproduce the failure.
I can't offer any speculations on what could have happened to change the behavior. I've described what I've done tonight and hopefully it sparks some thoughts. It's kind of a bummer that the problem no longer happens because that means there is a potentially hidden and difficult to reproduce defect somewhere in there. I'll keep you all posted if I can make it happen again.
If anyone who knows more about the internal workings has any ideas on something else I can try that would make the failure happen again, please let me know and I'll be happy to try it out.
Well, the might be a problem with efficiency runes, but it may never be fixed. The reason I suggested trying without the runes is due to the fact that you CAN'T get the efficiency runes in survival since the recipe for them is disabled

The reason to limiting the number of wells you can have with one altar. Building a dozen altars to kill the boss is fine, but building one isn't. Besides, another reason to have this restriction is so you are forced to build more altars to fit the number of wells. Building a well is cheap, a T4 altar isn't.
Another point for having a short range for a well is to make sure you can build altars next to each out will wells. If you have one for auto-crafting and the other for filling the SN, you don't want both effecting one. I suspect this is the main reason for the short range, and we have been going over a minor side effect for this.
Since your here, any other questions about blood magic? I will continue to try and answer any you may have. Consider it an apology for how rude I was earlier. As I have said, this isn't the first time people ask about the range of this ritual, and it gets old fast.

In that case, yeah its probably galacticraft. Is that something on your or his end to change? also would it be affected by a mod like morph?
Specifically, I'm having trouble extracting the slates.
Edit: And also I'm having trouble keeping the hopper from putting in too many pieces of stone.
