(v1.4) OptiLeaves (Faster Leaves rendering, looks better than Fast graphics leaves!)
Poll: Did OptiLeaves help your Minecraft perform better?
Ended May 15, 2014
While this gives me an pretty nifty 25-40% FPS boost in forest (and actually makes jungles playable), I can't help but wonder if you could add an option to make say 10-20% of the leaf blocks NOT lose their faces (adding a little bit more bulk to the inside of the trees while still culling MOST of the geometry).
Of course, I can see why this would be difficult to apply. Essentially, I think you are changing the render type of the block. You might be able to do something like;
But I don't know a huge amount about MC and Java, so this may not be a feasible solution. I'm also perfectly happy with a 25-40% fps boost, so...
Some mods add some ENORMOUS trees to the world. TC (or Natura, not sure) adds a monstrous redwood tree (~70-100 blocks tall). When you look up at the leaves, say good-bye to your FPS.
I believe in the Invisible Pink Unicorn, bless her Invisible Pinkness.
Well, rendering it that way would probably be inefficient and slow, definitely not the best idea to try and cram that into a mod designed to boost performance.
Also obviously more and more leaves (like with a big tree) are going to slow down your game.
If the leaves are closer together with less gaps, it technically should be a bit faster because it doesn't need to render quite as much leave faces.
A big tree like that would be even worse without OptiLeaves
Tell me what I'm doing wrong here.
Delete the META-INF folder from the jar and pout the class file (aoz.class) from this mod inside the .jar
-Dfml.ignoreInvalidMinecraftCertificates=true -Dfml.ignorePatchDiscrepancies=true
It startes and just closes. And the Log says:
Game ended with no troubles detected (exit code 0)
Following visibility rule and showing launcher as the game has ended
Mods that i have: Better sprinting, Dynamic lights, Zan's Minimap, Optifine, TMI and Forge Loader 1.6.4-9.11.0.883
My Minecraft 1.6.4 and i use Forge version of OptiLeaves too =P
Heelp!!!
If you have the Forge version (Read the OP carefully) then you don't have to put the mod inside the minecraft.jar. Just go to the .minecraft\mods folder and put the .zip from the mod in there.

When I put it in the MODS folder (the zip file, not the class itself) no matter if I use
-Dfml.ignoreInvalidMinecraftCertificates=true -Dfml.ignorePatchDiscrepancies=true
or not, it will not appear in my Mods menu, + it doesn't work too. Yes I use the Forge version and I have Forge installed.
+ Which OP you talking about? the on the first page? it says to put it into forge jar
Ah damn, I read another thread by mistake and thought that was this one. In my defense I'll say I was really tired.
Ain't working for me either. You got any other mods ? Maybe there's some incompatibility.

Well, it does for most blocks already (to some extent) What I do have some interest in is making a faster solution for rendering things like flowers, mushrooms, sugar cane, wheat, tall grass, etc.
I have a semi large 2 story wheat farm in my world and just looking at it slowed my Minecraft down I remember
On the other hand, is there ANY MCP for MC 1.7.X yet? It doesn't look like it to me.
Based on the fact that none of the mods out appear updated for 1.7.X, I'm just going to assume that there is no MCP for it yet
I'll probably remain inactive until that time comes. If someone could send me a tweet to my twitter @RyanDolan123 when it does come out, it would be really helpful, so then I can update it as soon as I can for the latest version.
owh ok, lol at the 2 story wheat farm XD. i asked the question because i have a human size mole tunnel in my survival world

With OptiLeaves, it makes trees have logs/trunks ONLY under the start of the leaves:
I was playing with my mod, Spencerio's Mod Mod, along with OptiFine and FpsPlus.

Edit: Actually it's probably because I need to install JDK. It decompiled fine without it though.
Edit2: Hah. I accidentally selected the mcp folder instead of the eclipse one when I dragged it into eclipse to open. Nevermind.
I'm trying to work on a 1.7.2 OptiLeaves which is very difficult when everything is named func_XXXXXX_X or field_XXXXXX_X...
