May I ask how far you are with making it for 1.7.10? I really loved this mod when i played 1.6.4 forge, but then i forgot about this mod. I just happened to come across this mod, and remembering how awesome it was, checked for 1.7.10 download, but there was none. Long story short, pls finish soon... xD

I have been using eclipse to edit minecraft and I have made a bow and edited it but when I run the client, the person holds it like an item but shoots the arrows but the arrows don't show up in the bow and the bow doesn't change images and the arrow doesn't show up in the bow, how do I change this?
It seems that 1.7.10 is more requested than 1.8. Would it perhaps be more beneficial to release 1.7.10 first as most people using the Better Archery mod use it alongside other mods, and most mods are 1.7.10.
I personally would really like to see my favourite mod renewed for 1.7.10 as I am currently playing 1.7.10 with other mods.
As for possible new content, I strongly feel that compound bows, magic and garish items shouldn't be added as it wouldn't feel true to the medieval non-fantasy nature of the mod. However, some ideas that could be added are:
- Bodkin arrows, armour piercing arrows that ignore say 50% of the armours protection.
- Archer/Ranger armour? Some dye-able pieces of clothing with a hood that provide a light speed boost to running.
But I feel that this mod already has just about everything anyway, I feel that new content isn't all that necessary. Getting the mod up to date would get it some popularity and then new content would increase the mods popularity. Anyway, whatever you do with this mod. It'll be great.

This is an AWESOME mod! I only have one question. How do you get the quivers on your back? If I press backspace it doesn't work! I really want to have it on my back because it looks awesome!!
Well, originally I think there was an add on mod for the quiver to become visible. Buuuuuuut then the mod maker stopped updating so then everything broke. There are some guys trying to update the mod (like Witchmitch for example). So I guess you just have to hang tight until it's updated.

A grappling hook type of Arrow,that when it lands on certain blocks and mobs, it pulls you towards that block/mob.
A similar type of arrow could be harpoon-like, so when it hits mobs, it pulls them towards you, sort of like a fishing rod.
A type of Bow that can shoot several arrows at once, Not like a bundle of one type of arrows, but a bundle of several types of bows, but takes a while to reload.
A Bow that you can set up with a stand and scope that can zoom, So one could snipe more accurately.
Sorry it has took so long to post back. I have had some family stuff to take care of. A member of my family was in the hospital. It has been a crazy two weeks. But I did talk with Piggy, 'He does the programing and I do the graphics', Chef helps us out. Well, he says that 1.7 and 1.8 have a lot of the same problems. there are a lot of errors in both. If he fixes 1.8 first, then he can whip through 1.7 no problem. He is more then haft through the errors on 1.8. There turned out to be more errors then we first thought. So we are not going to add new things just yet. Piggy had to change a lot of the programing to get it to work right. We will add new stuff later after both 1.8 and 1.7 are fixed. Piggy said he has read all your post. He is mostly looking at the problems the mod has had. We are making notes of the ideas you all bring to the table. We thank you so much for your input and your understanding. I cant wait till this mod is up and going again too. There is a modpack I have been working on, that this mod would be great to add. Again thank you guys.

It's great to see that this mod is being updated again. I loved using this in 1.6. Are you planning on adding some more enchantments to the mod? For example, if skills aren't going to be implemented (although I love the idea), you could add a Drawback enchantment which would allow you to pull back arrows faster before firing. Maybe a Velocity enchantment which would make arrows fly faster and further on release (which would be applied to the bow, of course).
I think adding more bowstring types would also be a good addition, allowing for more customisation of bows. Perhaps stronger materials would give more durability to the bow and give arrows higher velocity, but would take more time to pull back. Just a thought.

I agree 100% with this. As bodkin arrowheads are smaller, thinner and therefore lighter, they could also fly further. Maybe broadhead arrows could be offered as their opposite, which would do more damage and knockback, but wouldn't fly as far. Maybe even blunt arrowheads (which could be referred to as "training arrows") could be used for target practice.
On to the ranger armour. Plus the speed boost, you could also be given a jump boost and mobs' sight distance (how far away they can see you) could be reduced with the full armor equipped.
Piggy has had to rewrite the main frame for the mod. He is hoping to have 1.8 done by August. Then he will be able to get 1.7 done in no time flat. 1.7 has a lot of the same problems as 1.8. Sorry for the long wait. Piggy would fix one error and three more would pop up. Once 1.8 is done he will be able to use it to fix 1.7. So 1.7 should be ready by September. Piggy will be gone for two weeks but he is taking laptop to work on it.

Has someone updated this mod to 1.7 or 1.8 yet. I know there a people working on it but I haven't seen much about the progress so far.
