I have 151 patterns left or right click when first placing (ie using chisel) and get client crash. Then cannot log back into server the only way to fix is use MCEdit and delete the offending block from the map.
Thanks for the detailed report. It appears bits aren't getting written or read correctly somewhere. Will add to my list.
I think I asked this before, but 1) what is it that allows a mod block to be used inside a carpenter's block?
2) Would you be able to implement forced support for mods? e.g. Including a list of block ids to work with carpenter's blocks?
3) Would it be possible to utilize direction-based orientation for every block (vertical-aligned planks vs horizontal), or is it strictly dependent on the source block's information itself?

1.) It can't have a tile entity. A list of supported blocks isn't necessary. I plan on testing out partial support for these blocks soon.
2.) Above.
3.) It's based on metadata, so it will only work with blocks that use metadata for directions.
I think you should have a look at how IC2 cloaker is able to copy whatever block texture to Construction Foam blocks.
You select/copy texture from a given block face, it paste the selected texture from the given foam face.
That is: you can copy a workbench top texture and paste it north face of foam.
I understand it is fundamentally different from carpenters because with foam, no additionnal block is used for texture. It is only a reference to the icon graphical part.
But I guess, if IC2 is able to get the actual texture reference, Carpenter's could as well.
Hi leagris,
When I switched over to MC 1.7 I began using ItemStacks, which do store a generic texture that appears to be independent from the NBTTags. This is how I plan to implement support for the blocks, at least visually. The second problem is all the calls I make to cover blocks for block logic. If a cover with NBT data tries to determine it's characteristics at the location of my blocks it could very easily crash.
If I coded well, the changes should be minimal - only time will tell.

And, version 3.0.3 has been released to address a few bugs folks have posted, in addition to some I found. Overlays and dyes can only be applied to blocks when sneaking now.

Hey, we're having an issue with the 1.7.2 build of this mod. When you make the blocks the image of the item does not show up, but it does how how many were made. It looks like this.
I used these invisible blocks to create a bed. Which it made fine. Placed the bed down and the game crashed. All four players on my server reporting this issue with beds and other items. If you'd like the crash report let me know and I will edit this post with that under a cut. Thanks for making this epic mod.
I am having the same issue with invisible blocks. All of the blocks I place are invisible, but are there ie I can walk on them. They do not make my game crash however. This may be due to me not using the right version of forge. Thanks for making this amazing mod and any help would be appreciated.
I am a total.. well noob basically when it comes to mods and problems with mods so any help, as before, would be great
For those of you having invisible textures it would be helpful if you showed me the Forge log. I can't figure out the problem without an idea of whats happening. In all likelihood it's something else causing the problem.
I need help. When i use the chisel tool and chisel something, all i get is white lines dropping like rain, then when i switch i get nothing for a couple of switches, then i just get a creeper face. How do i get the brick textures and chisel textures? Help!

I tried loading up Forge build 1047 on a server and client, and tested things out. Sadly, it all works! You're going to have to tackle some of the testing on this. Test the mod all by itself and try to see what mod interaction produces the problem. I can guarantee it works fine with the stock launcher, so test that first to verify whether the problem exists.
I'm on 1.6.4 and I am having a problem with blocks from a different mod, the metadata in particular.
no crashes or anything just blocks with the wrong texture.
Is this something that can be fixed?
I do know that Chisel mod would alter some textures in a very unusual way when used as covers. Someone else recently reported Extra Utilities' blocks working incorrectly as well. At this time, it makes more sense to move ahead on the 1.7.2 branch... after all, it has been out for a while now.
I need help. When i use the chisel tool and chisel something, all i get is white lines dropping like rain, then when i switch i get nothing for a couple of switches, then i just get a creeper face. How do i get the brick textures and chisel textures? Help!
Rain, as in animated rain texture? If you're just talking about chisel patterns looking wrong, it's a limitation of MC 1.7.2.
v3.0.4 pushed to address a bad dupe bug. Also, I don't have any more small things to work on so the next release may come a bit later as I ponder working on larger aspects of this mod.
I tried out support for blocks with tile entities as covers, but sadly the results weren't great. When a block uses the tile entity to get facing, for instance, it won't texture correctly as a cover. Because I don't know a way to differentiate between blocks that will or will not texture correctly, it's best to keep the restriction up.
But it did get me to thinking about how other mods might get a "painted" texture effect that would always be accurate. My idea is: ... a secret.
Figured out why my game was crashing when placing carpenters doors. Also why my carpenters blocks were invisible. I removed Craftguide and now it works perfectly! I'm running 1.7.2 just to let u know. Hope this helps if anyone else is having the same issue

Thanks for looking into that for me. I figured it must have been another mod causing it.

Im still having invisible blocks and I do not have and never had Crafting guide. So this is not the answer for everyone. I did notice that It works FINE in single player. Even with Tinker's Construct And biomes o plenty which were my primary concerns. It works brilliant. I can place beds without crash, sleep in them, and make blocks and they show up.
How ever, On my server, with the exact same mods, I still have the invisible block problem. I do not know what this is but is very VEry frustrating. The error it throws only mentions Java, but no particular mod. So Just to recap, Singleplayer It works for me and all of my players just fine, even with Tinkers and Biomes o plenty. But on a server. NOPE. doesn't work at all, blocks are invisible,

Hi Art,
If you don't mind, try adding mods one at a time and testing them on the server. Add Carpenter's Blocks first, and try to determine what mod it might be conflicting with. I don't have the patience to try all the mods you have loaded, so it would be very helpful.
I'm very interested in fixing this if it's a bug on my end, I just need an idea where to look.
Thanks for the detailed report. It appears bits aren't getting written or read correctly somewhere. Will add to my list.
Noted in initial release for 1.7. Forge's sound event system is MIA so I can't play correct block sounds. It's simply disabled for now.
2) Would you be able to implement forced support for mods? e.g. Including a list of block ids to work with carpenter's blocks?

I tried loading up Forge build 1047 on a server and client, and tested things out. Sadly, it all works! You're going to have to tackle some of the testing on this. Test the mod all by itself and try to see what mod interaction produces the problem. I can guarantee it works fine with the stock launcher, so test that first to verify whether the problem exists.
I do know that Chisel mod would alter some textures in a very unusual way when used as covers. Someone else recently reported Extra Utilities' blocks working incorrectly as well. At this time, it makes more sense to move ahead on the 1.7.2 branch... after all, it has been out for a while now.
Rain, as in animated rain texture? If you're just talking about chisel patterns looking wrong, it's a limitation of MC 1.7.2.
You should also add a door handle changing tool.
That's All
I'll get right on that. ETA: Next year.
My idea is: ... a secret.
You would like to make tables with Carpenter´s carpets.
