I had wanted to try this mod for a completely private mod pack for a server I use for streaming that only has 4 total users including me. However, being greeted with "[Plunder Rummage] One or more mods are not authorized for this mod pack." is very discouraging, we can't even evaluate the mod to see if we want to use it.

So PM me the filled out form. Literally takes like 1 minute. Your post probably took more time to write.
This is a step that really shouldn't be needed just to evaluate a mod. I wouldn't mind doing so if this was going to end up in a public mod pack or something, but this literally was just me and a couple of friends wanted to add something extra to our private pack we use for streaming.

SO give me the pack link and I will add it. Private packs don't need permission, I just need the information for it.

I would rather not use the mod than to bow do to this type of control that you are forcing upon innocent users. Many people utilize ATLauncher (and other launchers that provide this same functionality) to create a new instance of Minecraft with Forge, and then throw in mods to test. Your mod will not work for people that do this because of your control freak ways. Checking to see what path the game is running from and then causing the game not to function the way users expect because of it.

Just FYI: needing information is tantamount to permission.

Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable. If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME. Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice.
I've gotten a few reports of this mod possibly acting maliciously if installed without "permission". Per the Minecraft terms of use: "Please think carefully before you make any content available, because it will be made public and might even be used by other people in a way you don‘t like."
There will also be a future update to the terms that will address malicious code, which is to say anything that intentionally prevents someone from playing the game, or purposefully negatively affects the game experience.
Modders receive permission to play the game and distribute mods from Mojang, just like other players, through the terms of use. They do not get to dictate their own terms of use for content that is created for Minecraft.
The past few days I have not made a single post on any of my threads, but Plunder Rummage has at least three pages or so of people arguing and discussing my protection check. Someone actually got to me on a level I can relate to (I will not mention the name, but I can assure everyone that it was none of those who posted on any threads) and basically his word meant something to me. Anyway, I am going to finally make a post today to say a few things. For starters, I have actually had a copy of my mods ready to upload without the protection check for about four days, and will just say that I was about to upload when the flaming took off, so I decided to sit back and watch for a little while.
I changed my profile picture to the Copyright logo, scanned twitters and threads posted on the technic forums. Seeing how those of you from technic forums were trying to "rally the troops" and go against mod makers who had taken the initiative to protect their mods (mine have easily consumed hundreds of hours of my time - I've made $11 in ad revenue before I stopped using adf.ly links, so you're welcome for removing those, too) I decided to play a joke with my in-game messenger earlier today and say that I, too, was inviting people to join my side. I changed the topic's poll as well as a joke because of all the biased behavior going on among both sides, mine included. Essentially, if we would have waited a day longer to start reporting me, these mods could have been updated sooner, but instead we wanted to continue arguing over something that had already sooner been taken care of.
I will be replacing the OP's information and hopefully this nasty business can be put behind us all. I will not be posting copyright text, so I will assume many mod packs will want to use it - I will address a new policy for that which will comply with the ultra-ambiguous Minecraft EULA as well as put my mind a little more at ease than if I had not addressed it at all.
I am overall sorry for the inconvenience this has caused private mod packs as well as public downloaders (those who play the mod in their favorite packs), and hopefully, as I said before, we can put this in the past and not let this have any effect on any long-standing Modder-user relationships. If no one will hold this against me, I in turn will not hold anything against the creators - in fact, in my new address to mod packs; I would actually encourage you to use the mods freely with specific circumstances.
Thanks for the free bumps and three days on the front page, I’ve enjoyed the exposure but I think it time to bring an end to all of this.
P.S. To the gentleman who had his twitter account suspended, I am sincerely sorry that happened to you. The reason I am finally coming out with this information is because I didn't want anything like that to happen to anyone else for something that I started (unintentionally). It was not me that reported you, but I feel bad for it and I want to apologize to you directly.
P.P.S. I wrote a song today in about 30 minutes (it’s extremely badass, too) to commemorate this ridiculous debate, perhaps one day when I am known for my music rather than my mods (my ultimate goal) you will all hear it and know that you had a part in it - perhaps not; I can’t say for sure right now.
I will never hold anyone to the past if they're truly willing to change. I'll put everything behind me.
That being said, I'll let you know right here that I would love to use your mod in not only my packs (I am building a wondering mage pack), but in other packs that are not mine as well. I also want to clarify something if I didn't, I was never against notifying you about using your mods, but I was against any code preventing me using it.
Also, nice prank, must have been amusing seeing us all argue and debate over legal stuff involving a game, sitting back and laughing =P

It was hysterical. College, as you might imagine, has made my daily life rather rutted and stale, so anything like this (like you said, over a game) is a nice addition to make the week go quicker so I can go home a live the life I like to live - playing music and spending time with others. I don't get to do the latter much sitting home alone in my room all day.
This seems more like backpedaling than social experimentation, but congrats on your enlightenment either way.

Taking requests - PM me if you want me to spotlight your mod.
You could have stopped a lot of argument if you hadn't waited, but whats done is done. It has already begun.
As for me "rallying troops' on the Technic forums, I would hardly count KittyJail as Rallying. More telling a few friends of this. If more than the KittyJailers had gotten involved then maybe, but this was not large scale.
I must thank you, this thread put me over the edge with how much copyright I deal with, and now we are finally on our way to ridding ourselfs of having to deal with something like this ever again.
Now enjoy your new found internet fame, it should last a good while. Put it to good use.
Hopefully my quote from Rami Ismail can become true now.
Not going to weigh in on the whole fiasco, but I want to say that I think this is a good step forward, Guff. I wasn't going to criticize your wanting to stake a claim to what you made before, and I won't start now. However, I will say that I think that your policies had been holding you back. Mods like Plunder Rummage and ProSthetics are pretty brilliant, and could add a lot to the game. From the people I've talked to about them, though, I know that a lot of people were turned away by the strict stance you took on modpacks, even if they weren't planning to make one themselves. I think that losing that air of perceived hostility could, in time, win you the attention that your mods deserve, instead of attention as "that one guy who hates modpacks".
This also means that I can finally share this mod with some of my friends, who I've had to tell in the past that I knew a great mod to make adventuring more exciting and unpredictable, but they wouldn't be able to use on their server.

Nope. Try again.
Again, sorry that happened to you, but that's where I had to draw the line and make a post.
Thanks, hopefully they enjoy the mods.
