Use the config I provided in the link. It's my current config and you can set spawn biomes for each Elephants/BigCats/Scorpions. You could copy the part about "PostSpawn Tags" and create your own config from that..
You would use this for each snakes "PostSpawn Tags": "writenbt({'TypeInt/3/X'})", and replace X by their IDs.
Some will crash your game so be warned.
Read the other posts and see if someone can help you.
I think I already told you everything you should know!
There's a Wiki page for Just Another Spawner on the GitHub.
I'm currently working on a project with OpenComputers so I don't have much time to explain this in 100000 words.
Sorry!
Ok i will try it if not i will play with your configs.

Doesn't matter what the press says. Doesn't matter what the politicians or the mobs say. Doesn't matter if the whole country decides that something wrong is something right. This nation was founded on one principle above all else: the requirement that we stand up for what we believe, no matter the odds or the consequences. When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world — "No, you move
I appreciate you shooting out a bunch of ideas of a bunch of things I can try… but what I really want, is to understand how it works. The real question at play here is, why does an expression not work when it combines AND and OR operands?
My understanding is that JAS expressions are not based on Java logic, they're based on MVEL.
MVEL is based of JavaScript...
I don't think what you're trying to do is possible within JAS. You might have to use a "workaround" to fix your spawning.
I think I read you can use "or" in between two different operations but I don't know if it would work here...
"or" is different then "||" "OR" .
I think it doesn't work because you are telling the spawner "Despawn if Water Block Above AND Below OR daytime < XXXX"
I don't know if you understand, but it's trying to compare Below with daytime and Above at the same time, so daytime is probably ignored because it will not return a correct value.
Sorry if you don't understand what I'm trying to explain at all. Quite hard to say what I think correctly in English ...
I'm also pretty tired!
Good luck with your search and your config.
I think we are the only one discussing on this thread so we are kinda Doomed....
I asked a bunch of questions in my previous posts and only you provided help...

You don't need the rest of the config, maybe it was creating an issue...
If it doesn't work, then make sure you didn't make a spelling error somewhere...
It could also be that aerbunny are hard-coded to spawn on a certain blocks or height level.
Try to give them a "Spawn Tag" to force them to spawn on the grass in the Wyvern Dimension.
Force them to spawn at any light level, any height aswell.
I don't know what else to tell you after that.
Maybe someone else can provide better information.

I returned after a years or so and I wanted to see how JAS evolved. Dang, it became overly verbose. Why so much repetition of useless words? "Weight-PassivePackMax-ChunkPackMin-ChunkPackMax":"8-4-2-4" instead of just "8-4-2-4", "BIOME": {"contents": []} instead of just "BIOME":[]
I tried to sort by mob instead of biome and it didn't work. Isn't it the "Sort entities by biome": false? it didn't seem to do anything after reload/restart.
I've used JAS extensively in the past, I liked all the power it enabled. Hopefuly I can learn it again.

The descriptive nature of the file makes the syntax overly verbose. It could have been just a few example lines on the top of the file describing how to work with it then the real deal, instead of repeating it all over the file.
I'm completely new to JAS. I have looked at the wiki, but I am totally unsure of how to proceed. Has anyone written (including in this thread) a step by step guide to making this mod work for you?
Say for simplicity's sake I will just use vanilla and add mo creatures without going so far as to add BoP or anything.
I have a larger mod pack I am running but until I have some better idea how to configure JAS, it seems pointless to try and do the whole thing.
So I make a fresh, otherwise vanilla world with JAS and Mo Creatures, exit and my first stop should be which config file?
Also, can the configs tolerate having spaces added between entries? Right now it is a nightmare to try and read.
Any assistance here or in PM's would be appreciated.

I know this isn't probably what you want to hear, but I believe this is the best assistance that can be given to a new guy such as yourself: "Set aside 8 hours, open the wiki, open all the config files, and read-to-understand each thing in the wiki."
If you can do that, you'll have a pretty solid foundation to start, and you'll be able to use THE most powerful spawning tool around. If you're not prepared to put the time in to understand the mod… do yourself (and the rest of us who you'll come asking for help from) a favour, and just use Custom Mob Spawner.
PS.
Do the wiki homework on JAS, it's worth it, trust me.
Just to make sure Im understanding this.. This mod will basically take all spawn weights, biome spawn locations, etc etc, and handle it as long as the mobs are declared in the server and use the standard vanilla mob cap.. correct? Or will I have to actually adjust the biome specifics myself?
Is there already some kind of editor to make editing the JAS configs
easier? If not I would create one myself and share it with the
community.
That would be awesome. Like something to click around in without knowing the code? This will be like learning a new language otherwise. There's a lot of details in this mod, and I'm struggling. I'd love to test something like that out.

So to any helpful experts out there (until we get this sweet editor), is it possible to restore vanilla despawn behavior for mobs? The "can move farther than 20 blocks in one direction" rule, specifically? By default with this mod, I can trap a bunch of animals in a 2x2x2 box, walk away, and come back, and they'll have despawned.
Hello everyone. Hoping someone might have some insight on my problem.
I have been configuring JAS (great mod btw), and in testing I have found out that it seems passive/neutral Mo' Creatures entities only seem to spawn on grass blocks. I assume this is due to Mo' Creatures vanilla spawn mechanics. This is a problem when it comes to beach biomes, which are predominately sand--and as a result of this mechanic, rather empty.
Using the spawntag !blockFoot({'sand'}) in the EntityHandlers config fixes the issue to an extent, but that forces the creature to spawn on only sand. Is there a way to override this vanilla spawn mechanic of Mo' Creatures without forcing the entity to spawn on 1 block type or a list of block types?

Hmm… that's weird. I don't have that problem for some reason. I get Ostrich in the Desert, Foxes on both grass and sand (Forest and Desert), etc, all just fine.

I thought it was really weird too. To be clear, a select few Mo' Creatures entities you would expect to find in sandy biomes (according to their wiki) spawn fine--snakes for example. I wouldn't believe that was what's happening myself if I didn't spend 4 hours buggering with the issue yesterday.
In several test worlds, on chunks predominantly "beach" raccoons, birds, etc would only spawn on grass--even if those grass blocks were actually a small area of "plains" or some other biome. It seemed chunks that were a majority "beach" were eligible to spawn entities in this manner. I was using a vastly limited spawnlist entry for MoC (just 1 entity spawning in 1 biome) with no tags other than the default associated with it in any config. Mod versions were: JAS v0.1.76 and MoC v6.31.
The only reason I could surmise this might be happening was some MoC weirdness. Maybe I'm wrong though and something else is going on here.
One quick question that I hope I can ask without offending. I am explicitly NOT asking for an update date here, but I would like to ask, if permitted: Do you have any plan to release JAS for Minecraft 1.8, or do you, like many other modders, plan to skip 1.8 altogether and wait for 1.9?
Ok i will try it if not i will play with your configs.

Try this instead in your aether spawn list.
"FILE_VERSION": "2.0",
"SORTED_BY_BIOME": true,
"SPAWN_LIST_ENTRIES": {
"WyvernBiome": {
"CREATURE": {
"aether.aerbunny": {
"Weight-PassivePackMax-ChunkPackMin-ChunkPackMax": "8-4-2-4"
}
}
}
}
}
