Please don't make the mod too complicated by adding batteries and different flashlights, keep the mod simple. Like add things but not too much, i don't what to have to remember too much recipes just to use a flashlight.
Really one of the most useful mods I've seen, other than Dynamic Lights.
Some people, like I, think that it is a little too overpowered though.
A suggestion I have was to have the flashlight "dim" every 100-150 ticks (every 10-15 seconds), and after 2:30-3:45 minutes, the flashlight would need to recharge for 1 minute or something like that. I like this suggestion better than other lantern mods out there, which use one coal per 80 seconds, because it just wastes inventory space and is non-flashlight like.
Just throwing it out there, hope you take it into consideration. If you add this along with other suggestions people have made (durability, helmets), this would become one of the greatest (non-overhauling) mods out there!
I really love this mod but I suggest that before you add an electricity supply using other mods you should develop one within this mod first. My suggestion is a battery which can be crafted like this:
[GN][GD][GN]
GN = Gold Nugget
GD = Glowstone Dust
This would produce one battery and provides the flashlight with power. As you keep the flashlight turned on, the durability bar on the flashlight goes down. Once the bar is depleted, you need make another battery and put it into the flashlight. I would make the battery short-lived (no longer then 5 minutes of on time) due to the cheap price needed to craft it. I hope you consider my suggestion. Keep up the good work!

I like the idea, I will not do this exactly but what I am working on is very similar to what you said
great concept, i love the mod, but sometimes having to hold the flashlight is annoying, perhaps i should be able to attach it to my helmet, or stick it on with some slime!
Please do not add a battery, we don't need another battery with all the other mods that add batteries already. you should just instead of making a battery, have it so that you put the flashlight in a crafting table with the materials that you would use to make the battery, then it would add to the durability of the flashlight by a small amount.
Hint: The more far you point the flashlight, the less light it gives.
This is a good idea you should do this so the flashlight isn't that overpowered.
Also, if you are going to add helmet with flashlight the recipe could be a flashlight on top of a golden helmet. Please don't add a flashlight on any other helmet other then gold. Gold has low durability so that it isn't overpowered, and gold isn't that strong either. So for the light you get a ty helmet. And a gold helmet looks more like a mining helmet then all the other helmets.
This is cool, but it makes torches useless. It would be cool if you implemented some kind of electricity to the flashlight, because right now, at least in my opinion, it's overpowered. Or maybe use the Universal Electricity Mod API. It's up to you. Really cool mod though, there has been other mods like this, but they are outdated now.
Actually no because torches are a permanent light source but I do agree there should be some kind of recharge system P.S EPIC mod
Ipodmail did a review! I like the mod though, I have downloaded many horror texture packs but there were never any flashlights. It is just not horror without a flashlight.

... The flashlight shows up!
I think you might want to redo the item textures. They're a bit.... lopsided. Not usual that you see that.
xD
xD
xD
Lopsided flashlights. xD
Maybe you should also make an optional HD version. Some people will appreciate that.
Also in the light distance, it a little OP.
I had it to but he fixed it now
