nuchaz, did you ever consider moving up from the wood age into the metal age? right now pretty much everything is made out of wood, but what would you think about making metal variant of your blocks? with that you could also perhaps bring some of your mechanics into the technology age and introduce computers with equipment... you could make your own type of computer system, or maybe make it an addon with computercraft.
the copying of books using the typesetting table and the printing press could be upgraded into using a computer which has a connected scanner and printer. the scanner scans the books you want, and the data gets transferred to the computer. from the computer you could transfer the data onto a disk, or onto an usb stick for storage. if you want to print the book right away, you can transfer the data to the printer, and if the printer has the required items it'll print out the book. for printing enchanted books you need to give the printer bottle of enchantments (which you'd need to add a way to craft them) and you could also edit written books on the computer and resave it to the disk.
the map frames could be upgraded into computer panels with perhaps a touch screen option, so you could move around through the map, zoom in or set waypoints. the bookcases would be upgraded into harddisk storage blocks, or a shelf for the disks/usb sticks. when accessing the computer you'd be able to access those shelfs and blocks and see what's in the shelfs, and with an upgraded glasses it could also temporarily guide you to an item you're looking for which you searched through the computer. the armorstand could be upgraded into an armor stand with an electric charging function, and through the computer you could see how much it's charged. there would also be some more modern version of some of the blocks, like the chairs, tables and lamps.
as for the wooden age right now I also was thinking about some things. like would it be possible to also place wool carpets on chests the same way you can place wool carpets on tables right now? and would it be possible to connect desks to eachother to make a bigger desk (would be useful if you'd add the computers and such) and how about adding some more functions to the desk? such as still being able to edit written books (only if it's placed on a desk) and some more advanced book writing options, such as easier flipping through the pages when writing the book, easier copying and pasting, being able to edit a line where you clicked and things like that.
and what about adding actual items/blocks to the game for the candle and ink bottle, without having them automatically on the desk. with this you could use candles as another option for lighting, and without the ink bottle you could use the desk for other things aswell (sort of like another version for the table) though you'd only be able to read and write books on the desk if you place the candle and the ink bottle on it. for reading books you need to have the candle on the desk, otherwise it'll say there's not enough light for you to read the book, and to write in a book you need both the candle and the ink bottle.
I was also thinking of a new type of block. it'd be a combination of a bookshelf and a crafting table in 1 block. it'd be like the worktable from forestry. in the front you see a bookshelf where you can put in normal books. you can then click ontop of the block and open the crafting table. you can then make a crafting pattern, and save that pattern to one of the books. when you click a crafting book it'll act as if you shift-right clicker a recipe question mark in NEI, thus filling the crafting pattern with all the required items/blocks that you had in your inventory. you could also make an upgraded version of this with an added single chest. with that you can craft items that are stored in the chest.
sorry for the whole tl;dr wall of text, but I just wanted to share some of my ideas with you

The thing is this mod right now works well with tech and magic mods. If this mod began to add things like computers and the like I'd most likely drop it as it wouldn't fit very well into my magic themed world.

I personally don't think moving towards technology is the way Bibliocraft should go. For me, a large part of the charm of this mod is how rustic it is and how well it fits into worlds that don't use tech mods.
I have to agree with Auric here. If Bibliocraft starts adding things like computers and printers, I'd most likely stop using it as well.
Bibliocraft mostly has a Renaissance/Reformation vibe to it, and that can go along with medieval, fantasy, and modern worlds, which is a good range for Minecraft. If anything, I'd prefer a slightly older vibe - but of course printing presses wouldn't fit with that. I wouldn't drop the mod if there were more modern styled things in it, but I wouldn't use them. Actually Bibliocraft does have one item, desk lamps, with a early-to-mid-20th century feel - and I don't use them.

When I placed a map on the map frame a green marker showed up on my map. Now this wouldn't be a problem, but it points to a very tiny island with nothing on it. On the screenshot below you can clearly see I'm in front of the map frame and the green marker dosen't point to the map frame itself.
I'd also like to point out that I'm using optifine as it's possible it could be related.
Yeah, that is something I am not sure I can do anything about. I notice it happens on vanilla item frames too with just vanilla. I suspect that is a issue with the vanilla maps. Behind the scenes, the map frames are very similar to item frames in how they sync data and stuff.
I would kind of like to to Extra Trees eventually. I won't though until I make the move to all OBJ models, which is on the to-do list. That way I don't have to create a mess of textures, I can just reference the wood plank textures from extra woods. This is something that probably won't happen till after 1.7 though.
When placing a map in a frame, I've noticed the map automagically removes the player marker, which is pretty great.
I also noticed that every map was placing another white marker, pointing at an off-the-map location.
I checked my coordinates and was able to verify these points were all pointing at 0,0.
When placing a map containing coordinates 0,0 in a frame, a lime-green arrow marker was added at 0,0.
Is there any chance this bug could be caused by another mod? I've only checked this on a multi-modded instance so far, but could easily check it on a bibliocraft-only one, if needed.
A bit of info: Minecraft 1.6.4, Forge 9.11.1.916, BiblioCraft 1.5 + BiblioWoods Forestry+BoP, BoP 1.1.3 on a Biomes O Plenty world type.
edit:
Nevermind, just tested on a clean forge install with nothing but BiblioCraft, and the issue remains.
Minecraft 1.6.4, Forge 9.11.1.916, BiblioCraft 1.5.0.
I am not quite sure why that happens. I noticed it only happens sometimes though, its not consistent. Also when I remove maps from frames that have those white markers, they maps seem to still have the markers. I haven't done real extensive testing with the vanilla item frames and maps, but if the issue shows up there too, then I suspect this may be another issue related to vanilla maps and might be beyond my control.

sorry for the whole tl;dr wall of text, but I just wanted to share some of my ideas with you
There is a few little things I would like to do that is more in the metal age, like some more variations on lighting. But as far as computers and stuff go, that is a little out of the theme I am going for. ComputerCraft really has computers and printers nailed. I could see a scanner peripheral mod being useful, and also some of the other computer stuff you mentioned would be fun stuff, but it would definitely work out better as an independent mod / addon for ComputerCraft.
There is a peripheral mod on the ComputerCraft forums that opens access to the item stacks in the slots in a bunch of my BiblioCraft stuff so the computer can ready the names and quantities of items, as well as other things. Some of what your interested in may be able to be accomplished using that. May be worth checking out.
I have thought about doing an charging armor stand as a separate IC2 addon. I think that would be a handy thing to have, but I would want it as a separate package. One reason is to keep BiblioCraft core from having any dependencies outside of forge so I don't have to wait on anyone to update.
Double desks is something I am still interested in doing as well. The seats in a way were an experiment in connecting blocks with the screw gun. Which now that I understand how I can easily do it I would like to apply it to at least the desks. When I make the move to OBJ models that might be something I consider. That is when I plan to do double desks. I may make them just connect on any side with a bunch of model variations so you can make double desks, triple desks, corner desks or whatever. I may make the candle and ink well / quill separate items at that time too so the player can add them to desks in different places however they please to achieve the look they want. I am not sure if I would want to limit the ability to write books / read books without light or quill though. I wouldn't want to add limitations over and above what you can do just holding a book. Maybe as a way of unlocking advanced writing feature it might kind of work. So you just get extra advantages upon adding an ink well or a light or whatever. I might think about something like that.
The book based pattern crafting block reminds me of the redpower project tables with the plans. I miss those a lot sometimes. That might be something worth considering sometime. I would definitely try to put a unique spin on it. I do like the idea of saving recipe patterns to books though. An excuse to make more books to go on the bookcases is always good.
Hei Community.
I got some weird issues with this awesome mod and i hope one of you could help me out.
After placing one of the different furniture types i can't remove them until i change to creative mod.
I havent messed arround with the config nor with the Lock and Pick item.
I dont know if s/o had the same issue like me before and i wont go trough all these Pages.
greets
Docroar
Have you tried using an axe? That is the easiest way to pick up most all of the wood blocks.
Yeah, that is something I am not sure I can do anything about. I notice it happens on vanilla item frames too with just vanilla. I suspect that is a issue with the vanilla maps. Behind the scenes, the map frames are very similar to item frames in how they sync data and stuff.
But the thing is with vanilla item frames the green marker is placed in the location of the item frame. Biblocraft's map frames seem to place it out in the middle of nowhere. I think someone had said it points to 0,0.
This is mostly just a small annoyance for me really. i mainly use the map so I can have a compass that always points to my home rather then spawn. I'll likely never get lost again now... unless I'm in the nether...

What is the block used to make the Screw Gun? I thought it was hardened clay but it is not.
Orange stained clay. Made with 1 orange dye in the middle and 8 hardened clay blocks around it.
I personally would have liked to use wool as this gives 6 unused blocks that end up being wasted. And I use clay for other things, such as phials from TC4. Oh well.

1.7 pre-release is out and they updated the Dark Oak and Acacia Trees to have unique logs, planks, stairs and slab textures. So...should I start reworking the Server Shop to add in new Bibliocraft wood styles for the future 1.7 update?
I really like this mod, especially when it comes to storing all my Thaumcraft research and Ars Magica spellbooks, but all the miscellaneous furniture is starting to make the mod overlap somewhat with various furniture mods, giving it a rather redundant feel. Have you considered separating the items not really related to books and storage, like lights, chairs, and tables, into another mod or an addon?
I'm another user who likes the rustic, wooden theme of this mod. In fact, I find the screw gun painfully modern--could we have a variant that looks like an old-fashioned brace & bit? (That's how we elders handled drills in the days before power-everything. Now get off my lawn!)
I would also like to see a more blocky, Minecraft-ish table--something like Mr. Cray's Furniture mod has. The current one is, IMHO, a bit too pretty for Minecraft--it looks out of place. I end up covering it up with a tablecloth. The various shelves, chairs and desks, OTOH, are just about perfect.
Some issues with the recipes: I cannot make Bibliowood chairs with the same wood's sticks & pressure plates--I have to use "vanilla" sticks & pressure plates. I feel that I ought to be able to make an Eucalyptus seat and back with eucalyptus pressure plate and those pink eucalyptus sticks, and not have to hunt up an oak tree, too. Finally, why can't we use any color wool as the padding? It's really annoying to be lugging a full stack of lime green wool around and then find out that only white wool works in all your recipes.
Can you add a way to make the list of books in the typesetting tables only be shown to the player who put the book in the list?
Say if I wrote a book called "Plan for attack of base X - First Edition" and I wanted to distribute it to my hypothetical "army", I would put it into the typesetting table and use the chase to print more books.
Now the book "Plan for attack of base X - First Edition" is eternally stuck in the typsetting table for the world to see. The people in Base X can open their own typesetting table, see my book there and print it as well, reading all the info I had written.
I would like for the typesetting table list to be player-specific, so other people don't find books I put in there, and for the option to delete books from your own list.
Fantastic mod, however we may of found a bug or we're simply doing something wrong. When placing map frames to make a 9 block scaled map, it only occupies 1 frame where its placed and not the rest. We tried other shapes, sizes, as well as positions, doesn't seem to want to get larger than the 1 frame.

any information would be appreciated.
That's not how it works. You put one map in each frame.
If you want it to cover a wall you need multiple maps in multiple frames.
Tried that too, still doesn't work, makes multiple mini-maps lol
Are we just doing it wrong? you put it in a certain order, or...?
The maps do not voltron into a bigger map under any circumstances. For the piece south of the center map, you must go to the place that would be on it, make a map there, and return to place it. In other words, a map frame is exactly the item frame, just with the map enlarged to fill the whole space.

Railcraft Boiler Calculator
any information would be appreciated.
That's not how it works. You put one map in each frame.
If you want it to cover a wall you need multiple maps in multiple frames.
Railcraft Boiler Calculator
Tried that too, still doesn't work, makes multiple mini-maps lol
Are we just doing it wrong? you put it in a certain order, or...?
