Yay, thank you so much for this update! The makeshift pistol is probably inspired from the jury rigged pistol from minegunner, which was epic!
Also, I just realised you put up my banner for download and credited me. Thank you!
I somehow missed this post, so I'll respond to it now. The makeshift pistol was indeed inspired from minegunner! Supra107 and I have been talking about bringing in some minegunner features since it was such an awesome mod back in the beta days. There's more coming!
Revolvers aren't a flintlock they have a primer and bullet. Also they technically do more damage in IRL than a black powder musket. To me the guns should do the damage of a diamond sword at least for what they are worth in terms of reloading and material needed to make them.

Also, would you really want to have to open your crafting and reload 4 times to have to take down a single zombie? That's impractical when you could just use the diamond sword in the first place.
Yay, more minegunner stuff! There wouldn't be much point in the blunderbuss considering normal guns can fire buckshot, but maybe it would fire buckshot with a wider spread and greater damage. And maybe you could add a repeater? 2 shot kill but can store 7 bullets, and as accurate as a musket? http://en.wikipedia....inchester_rifle
Also, a buffalo rifle would be cool, not the most accurate but with tremendous damage, and the bullet could travel through multiple targets. Uses a lot of gunpowder though. http://en.wikipedia....i/Buffalo_rifle
That was my original idea for adding a blunderbuss, but I am unsure if I will do it or not. I think the repeater would be too modern for the scope of this mod, but I like the buffalo rifle quite a bit!
Okay, version 1.4.2 is now up. Due to problems with structure/ore generation with ModLoader hooks in MC 1.5, sulfur ore is no longer in the mod. I hope this is only a temporary change and it will be restored when I can figure out the bugs with it. Right now I would like to work on some new features and weapons to make this mod even more awesome. Anyway, you can now smelt coal for two gunpowder. It should be about as easy to get as mining and smelting sulfur ore.
On a happier note, this mod is almost at 10,000 downloads! That's awesome! I was hoping I could release the big update with new weapons and features when this milestone was reached, but there was a surge in downloads after the 1.5 update. Thanks to the community for such great support, and I wish to pay it back by continuing to create great mods!

What a pain this all must be. Thank you for creating another way to make gunpowder for the time being.
Awesome Mod! I enjoy messing around with these epic guns!
Hello! I have made a review and tutorial for your awesome mod (: Hope you like it ;D I would love to see where this mod goes in the next updates to come!
Boooooooooooooooooooooooooo. I will work on fixes, hopefully a compatible version will be out tomorrow. I should probably be better about downloading snapshots and having the mod all ready to go when the public update hits.

Thanks for the support and video! I also share the opinion that lightsabers and flintlock guns are about on the same technological scale.
Announcement time! 10,000 downloads! Thanks to all you guys for the support, and keep playing and checking back here as new versions, weapons, and features come out!
I should have a 1.5.1 compatible version out for download very shortly.
Good news, version 1.4.3 out, working for MC 1.5.1!
-1.5.1 compatibility
-Cleaned up the creative combat tab, so there is no more unloaded weapons in there, just the loaded ones
Hopefully there won't be another Minecraft update anytime too soon, so I can focus on the new weapons and features (don't worry, they really are coming). Stay in touch for updates and enjoy!
Hey, nice mod you've got going here. I like how reloading is actually intended to be a hassle for this one. Crafting requires the attention of the user, much like reloading. Good job with that.
Anyways, I've come to let you know that I am adding your mod to the mod list, and to ask you a question. Do you have downloads for old versions of the mod? For instance, if you still had an old download for 1.5 listed in an old versions archive, then I could include this mod on both the 1.5.0 and 1.5.1 lists.
It's up to you, really. Just figured I'd let you know that it's an option. Also helpful to those not yet willing to update to 1.5.1.
If you have an concerns, questions, or would just like to contact me, you may do so by PM, quoting me, or through IRC at #mcf_modlist on irc.esper.net.

Good day!
I have versions for 1.4.7 and 1.5; I'll put them up for download on the thread. Thank you so much for putting the mod on your list!
the "handheld cannon" should better come with a warning label. As this fool (meaning me ) has just proven, it is not foolproof . While testing the weaponry, I've got the bright idea to get rid of a chicken in my vegetable patch. It got perfectly rid of the chicken ... and also of the vegetable patch, which has been blown to kingdom come Next I'll use this thingy to get my revenge on some of these creepers around buahahaha (<- very creepy manic laughter )
Haha yes, it does house quite a bit of garden-destroying power. Quite soon you'll have even more weapons to kill your creepers with!
aren't revolvers supposed to be the most reliable weapon?
Well nowadays, yes, they're more reliable than magazine-fed semi-automatic handguns. However, in the era of flintlock, the revolver designs were much more complex than a simple pistol or musket and were more prone to misfire. As better priming techniques like caplock and cartridge shots were invented, revolvers could be much more reliable. This mod focuses on the flintlock era. And it's also just a balancing thing, having six shots as opposed to one or two needs to be countered with alot of disadvantages the pistol is strong in (durability, reliability).

Thank you, glad you're enjoying the mod!
Indeed it is, but it what we gotta do. Hopefully Notch and the rest of the team will hold of on the updates for awhile so I can finish the new weapons
