I seem to be having a slight problem with Essentials' spawning facilities.
Forge Essentials seems to believe that everyone's spawn point is a certain location, even if that isn't true. It wouldn't be too much of a problem if that point wasn't at about y level 32, inside solid rock. I've had to hollow out that space, as everyone on my server kept suffocating to death. I've even went and manually changed the spawn point in the NBT tags of world.dat, and yet there is no change in function.
To add insult to injury, I also play with the mod Dimension Doors, and Essential's spawn handler makes it so when DD sends a player to Limbo, Forge Essentials sends the player to the spawn instead. Which is, again, solid rock.
Is it possible to disable Forge Essential's handling of player spawns? If not, can I fix where the spawn point is? /setspawn hasn't seemed to be working for me.

I deduced that I had actually just neglected to remove FE configuration files after a mild server crash. I needed to delete FEData. I have one more thing to report, however. The //expand <direction> <amount> function is not working in the current recommended build, although it's used in the Wiki's example.
I noticed the lack of //expand in the current 1.4.7 jenkins builds as well. Tried manually adding the permission for it to no avail. Is this only available in the 1.5.1/1.5.2 compatible builds? Has anyone been able to get this working in 1.4.7?
I cannot get this to work on a vanilla forge server .. i downloaded the latest beta 135 and put it in to the core and get the following error every time. Using 1.5.2 and forge 716

There's something wrong with the latest builds as they only include a seemingly broken ForgeEssentials-core...jar (broken judging by the file size as the 135 jar is only 29111 bytes compared to the latest build that looks ok where the jar is 466456 bytes). Wild guess is that they've managed to compile and package the changed parts of the builds only while ignoring the rest.
The latest build that seem to include the whole thing is build #129.

Ya thats strange from 122 to 128 and 130 to 135 are 40kb while 121 and 129 are 833kb
Unfortunatly this is not near enough stable enough for my liking. Just to install this on the server relies heavily on Github's network being available and I personally do not wish to have my server crash because Github is having issues!!!!! You keep stating to go to the error reporting page well I would if it was currently available.
How do you set spawning permissions on a defined zone? I get how the global one works, but not a user defined one. I want to disable mobs from spawning inside of certain zones.
EDIT: Figured it out. You just refer to the zone as a group
This is really great, i have a very small server still on 1.4.7 and i managed to get build 275 to work (mostly) and i have to say this is perfect for me as it uses very little resources.
Thank you for this great mod!
Regarding /spawnmob...
I have "unknown errors" when attempting to spawn slimes, magma cubes, enderdragons, ghasts, and bats.
When spawning skeletons or pigzombies, the mobs spawn without their weapons.
Also, I cannot manage to spawn a wither skeleton or choose which color spawned sheep are. I have tried /spawnmob witherskeleton, /spawnmob skeleton:wither, /spawnmob skeleton:1
This problem occurs in every version I have tried.
This mod is astounding, but I have a very large feature request, command aliases. The entirety of my rank system revolvs around command aliases, so I can't yet make the switch to this until that functionality is in
thanks!

On the wiki, it says that world control will eventually be replaced with world edit hooks. When that happens will it only be released for the newest version of minecraft? or can you guys make it for 1.5.1 also? I really love this mod and I do not really want to update.
Cheers again for the amazing mod, it truly is fantastic.
I went through the wiki and created a few groups to get the feel for the permissions however i have 1 question that i am stuck with.
I test my servers and mods out on my LAN and i made sure no names where in the ops.txt file and everything ran perfectly as it should.
I made Members and followed the wiki instructions and it worked. However a got the wife to log on another pc and using another minecraft account but even this /list showed her as being in Guests she was still able to break blocks and place blocks, is there any reason for this? i dont think i missed anything.
Thanks for any help.
I am using the ForgeEssentials-ServerComplete-1.5.2-SNAPSHOT.176.zip.
Ingame, do /p export.
Find the folder called Export inside of your Permissions folder. Will give us a better idea of whats going on.
Great Mod guys BIG props on all your hard work. I do have one really wierd issue with the 1.8.2 snapshot and it's only client side when connecting to a FE server. When i try to use the help command i get "unknown error occured while trying to preform this command." I can use the help command in the server console and in single player worlds just not on my account when logged into the server. Nothing shows in the logs or i would post those. I've tested with vanilla and just forge and i've also tested with the 1.5.2 Ultimate FTB No GT pack ver .5 and recieved the same issue. Hunted forums and posted stuff for days and still can't seem to figure it out.
*EDIT* installed FE on client and help still works in single player but still not on server scratching my head atm.
The commands stop working (properly). I'm sure that this has to be a permissions problem, because they all work perfectly when I'm OP'd.
/back - (Sometimes) outputs a line of blank text
- Does not give an error in any log
/kit mykit - Gives the first item in the kit, then crashes the server with this:

/warp warpname - Outputs text:
You have insufficient permission to do that. If you believe you received this message in error, please talk to a server admin.
Oddly, /spawn, /home, and /bed work no matter what, so it seems strange that /back would not.
Again, /kit, for any kit I establish, works while I'm OP'd.
And I'm sure that I've just overlooked out /warp works.... somehow...
As an aside I don't really care to have answered: My members group does not have access to /help. What can I adjust to change that?
Thank you very much for your time. I look forward to any helpful responses.

Minecraft Forge v7.8.1.737
Forge Essentials Snapshot 182
I'm running a very small (3-7 man) server, so when commands don't work, the entire server quickly knows.
These commands work while I'm OP'd, but when I de-op myself, ending in the members' group, which has these permissions:
B:ForgeEssentials.BasicCommands.back=true
B:ForgeEssentials.BasicCommands.kit=true
B:ForgeEssentials.BasicCommands.kit.mykit=true
B:ForgeEssentials.BasicCommands.warp=true
B:ForgeEssentials.BasicCommands.warp.admin=true
The commands stop working (properly). I'm sure that this has to be a permissions problem, because they all work perfectly when I'm OP'd.
