Gold tools will not happen because gold is a weak metal. Realisticly, you'd be better off hitting things with stone, or as somebody said earlier, stale bread. Diamond tools will also not happen for pretty much the opposite; they are too hard to be shaped and are resistant to any conventional form of melting. That's why they're both modifiers. And also, this is not the right place to make requests, there is a separate thread you can find in the OP if you have better, more detailed ideas.

As for the mod, I didn't know you could use auto-smelt on a tree!

If I understand it correctly, auto-smelt works by cooking any cookable block you harvest with any tool (So long as it would actually be intact).

gold could be added as a tool material imo, if just for consistency of being able to use all the vanilla metals. if its got a good modifier on it, it might be worth the low durability. also, you can always put a diamond + emerald on your tool. and a good handle, like slime would give even gold a decent durability.

I was looking for a mod that can melt down armor, weapons, and tools into their base materials. Someone referred me to this mod. But I looked in the videos and didn't see that. Now, I did see some really cool ways of having tools forever, but not melting down created items. Does your mod do that?
Also, I have not seen the tinkers construct do anything with armor in the videos. Does it work with armor too, or just tools and weapons at the moment?
In Dire Wolf's video, he showed base metals can be stored in tanks. But he also had another mod he was referring to...builders factory something. Were the tanks part of Tinkers Construct, or that another mod?
Lastly, how does it stack with Thaumcraft? I noticed one of the new base metals look just like Thaumium ingots, but they're not. I'm just making sure it doesn't cause any possible conflict, since I normally use that mod quite regularly.

You can only name your tool once, If you forget to name it while you make it, you need to use the anvil to name it. And then the name is written in Italic (I don't like my name in italic). Could we be able to change names of the tools even after the tool is created?

InsaneJ: I wouldn't say removing the fortune/auto-smelt interaction would cripple the mod. I would say that it makes auto-smelt much less desirable in the face of silk touch and any ore doubling machine, such as the Smeltery.

hohoukn: From what I've seen, Auto-Smelt + Fortune either increases the amount of farmables you get (infinite already) or increases the initial amount of resources you get from ores.

I even saved my first tinker tool i made. An iron pickaxe called "Gunther Axe". Then when i made my cobolt one i named it "Gunther 3000" xD

Haven't checked in the latest version, but at least in 1.3.6.4, the knapsack handled Minecraft crashes rather poorly in single player. Dupes and rollbacks ahoy.
Gotta check if anything changed with the fixes to their behavior.

Why?
Gold tools will not happen because gold is a weak metal. Realisticly, you'd be better off hitting things with stone, or as somebody said earlier, stale bread. Diamond tools will also not happen for pretty much the opposite; they are too hard to be shaped and are resistant to any conventional form of melting. That's why they're both modifiers. And also, this is not the right place to make requests, there is a separate thread you can find in the OP if you have better, more detailed ideas.

If I understand it correctly, auto-smelt works by cooking any cookable block you harvest with any tool (So long as it would actually be intact).

gold could be added as a tool material imo, if just for consistency of being able to use all the vanilla metals. if its got a good modifier on it, it might be worth the low durability. also, you can always put a diamond + emerald on your tool. and a good handle, like slime would give even gold a decent durability.

Also, I have not seen the tinkers construct do anything with armor in the videos. Does it work with armor too, or just tools and weapons at the moment?
In Dire Wolf's video, he showed base metals can be stored in tanks. But he also had another mod he was referring to...builders factory something. Were the tanks part of Tinkers Construct, or that another mod?
Lastly, how does it stack with Thaumcraft? I noticed one of the new base metals look just like Thaumium ingots, but they're not. I'm just making sure it doesn't cause any possible conflict, since I normally use that mod quite regularly.

You can only name your tool once, If you forget to name it while you make it, you need to use the anvil to name it. And then the name is written in Italic (I don't like my name in italic). Could we be able to change names of the tools even after the tool is created?
InsaneJ: I wouldn't say removing the fortune/auto-smelt interaction would cripple the mod. I would say that it makes auto-smelt much less desirable in the face of silk touch and any ore doubling machine, such as the Smeltery.
