And there were 6 months, 2 major versions, and 10 minor versions between 1.2.5 and 1.4.6. Pretty much every mod out there except RedPower updated to 1.3.2 and 1.4.4/1.4.5, and most of them also updated to 1.4.2. The big exceptions here are ThaumCraft, which was completely rewritten from TC2 to TC3, and the eternal lack of progress in pushing Equivalent Exchange from 2 to 3.
A bunch of new mods have appeared or reappeared rewritten between RP2's last two updates -- Metallurgy 2, MineFactory Reloaded, Biomes O'Plenty, Thermal Expansion, GregTech, Xycraft... And everything else has had major content updates. IC2 has crops and redesigned reactors. Forestry has MultiFarms, and before that, Alvearies. BuildCraft has hoppers and facades. MystCraft has become Forge dependent and in the /mods folder. Pam's Mods have been rewritten and reformated so many times I lost count. PortalGun was rewritten several times.
If RedPower updates to Minecraft version 1.7.3, that's great for everyone who happens to be around when version 1.7.3 hits. RP2 is a nice mod, don't get me wrong. But those of us playing on versions 1.5, 1.5.1, 1.5.2, 1.6, 1.6.1, 1.6.2, 1.6.3, 1.6.4, 1.7, 1.7.1, and 1.7.2 should stop worrying about RedPower being updated and find replacements that can and will be maintained for each version and have a license that lets people actually do something with the code if the author can't continue it for whatever reason.
Take MineFactory Reloaded, for example, which currently sports perhaps the best replacement out there for RP2's redstone logic. It was abandoned by the original author (whose name I forget) in the early Betas of Minecraft, picked up and rewritten by Power Crystals until the full release of Minecraft, and then updated by TehKrush when PC was no longer able to, and then updated by AtomicStryker when TehKrush was no longer able to, and now PC is back updating it and adding things like those lovely redstone logic pieces again. And we have versions of MineFactory Reloaded for every version of Minecraft in about the past 2 years, because nobody made a terribly restrictive this-code-is-mine-and-you-can't-touch-it license on it like Eloraam did.
Meanwhile, while Eloraam deals with work and burnout and rabid fans and rabid haters and life in general and takes 6 months to put out any update at all, nobody gets to use RP2 with all the new and updated mods everyone else has made for new and updated versions of Minecraft because nobody has the legal right to update and maintain RP2 for her.
This is why we should have alternatives to RedPower and not worry too much about if or when she'll be updating.
Anyway, this thread is not about RedPower or Eloraam or MineFactory Reloaded or Minecraft updates or mod updates.
This thread is about Tinker's Construct and mDiyo and skellies riding slimes and nitro creepers and modular tools and smelteries and in-game documentation and balance arguments and family time and internet shortages and ores that grow on bushes and Greg gregging where no Greg has gregged before and APIs updating where no API has updated before and tools tinkering where no tool has been tinkered before...
So let's get back to that discussion, please, before we fall into the RP2 trap like so many other threads have

You bring up a good point. So far I have been doing fine without redpower....
_____
Hey mDiyo! Any progress on those armor pieces? I am itching to see another model. And the thing I look forward to on your to-do list is the advanced tools! Keep up the good work!
So I just created a dupe bug apparently, using enchanting plus (not sure it matters but it brought it about) I made a fortune 3 book, which I tried to put on to a alumite pick which has haste, luck and diamond modifiers in an anvil, it gave me a pick with the name f[my custom name] and I got the original pick
Edit
When I open the anvil again the duped one disappears but it can be used before that
DrRedstoner: Smells like overlap. Why have both smelting and macerator recipes when one would suffice?
ryuzetswai: You need to update Forge on your server.
Qwertygiy: Sometimes it needs to be said. Enough people ask for 1.4.7 versions that I'd like to have an official answer to why sitting on 1.4.7 isn't going to get you this mod.
Ja99edMan: There hasn't been a whole lot of progress with armors or ranged weapons. I've been spicing up the Nether to the point that it's a place you would want to live.
My idea is : A book for oreberries!
Basically when you mine/get your first oreberry you get a book called ''Oreberries and their information'' or something like that (I'm bad at naming) and it contains info about their grow rate, and their light level to grow and all the stuff like that . (also, if you want to, put bushberries in the book as well )
-EDIT-
This is an idea, I shouldn't call it a request, but a suggestion, since I'm not telling you what to do, I'm just suggesting. (Some mod devs get mad when people ''request'' stuff, so I put this just to prevent it :P)
-snip-
That, and I've been breaking things pretty well.
DAT BUG! Haha that is... horrible XD. What was it supposed to be? As for the mod in general, I've been missing in on a lot of things unfortunatly; I'm waiting for FTB to drop RP2 from the Ultimate pack (it is planned when every other mods are on 1.5.2). They will even put in your mod! I hope I'll be able to play with all the new features since they look awesome. Armor will be EPIC. But take your time, we don't need armor if they can't be used.
And we have versions of MineFactory Reloaded for every version of Minecraft in about the past 2 years, because nobody made a terribly restrictive this-code-is-mine-and-you-can't-touch-it license on it like Eloraam did.
So let's get back to that discussion, please, before we fall into the RP2 trap like so many other threads have
I was arguing your assumption that she won't be updating since we last heard from her a month ago. We barely, if at all heard from her in the 6 months. But as you say, lets not fill this thread as well.
Just this, I believe the reason she doesn't want others using her code is because she was working on a game Minia (or Zeta, to which I think it was renamed) whose code was based on RP code.
Are you going to be making anything in regards to potions? You seem to be up-heaving all the tools, weapons and armors of vanilla MC and I just figured that would be the next step.
I'm looking to make bows and arrows sometime in the next few days. I have a few things written down, like modifying an arrow with a torch for projectile torch placement, but I'd like to hear ideas that anyone else might have. Arrows are the object I'm interested in; bows are less useful than the things they fire.
EliteAxe, BakuMinerGuy: Believe it or not, that was supposed to be armor. I was testing some of the new Forge features and broke the whole rendering engine.
Damien_Darkside: A few things in Natura have potion related things. Status effects are really not set up for custom anything.
enkryptor: Of course I did. 27 slots wouldn't fit very well on the side of the gui though...
EDIT:you said automating berry collection is hard, but its not... get thaumic tinkerer and you'll find out. and i have an idea for bow creation. and i have suggested it to you in the irc but the problems are the sprite or textures

Custom Arrows? Custom Arrows.
Explosive Arrows! There's a reason noobs still like Risugami's mods.
Egg Arrows! Heheheh. Again, why mess with proven awesomeness?
Slime Arrows! Will give any mob except slimes a debuff (slowness, maybe? See Bouncy Arrow) but will increase the size of slimes.
Diamond-Tipped Arrows! Not only do they add an extra 5 hearts to the arrow's base damage, they'll break any non-opaque-cube block they hit, like torches, glass, redstone, chests...
Ender Arrows! They'll randomly teleport the attacked entity up to 20 blocks in any direction, with some exceptions to make sure you can't use it to break into things that would otherwise be impossible to break into.
Redstone Arrows! They make any block they hit give out a redstone pulse, and (this one might be tricky, but would be hilarious) make the eyes of any [supported] mob they hit glow red, like spiders do.
Piercing Arrows! It goes through the first mob it hits, and can hit another after that. It ignores armor on the first mob, because it pierces right through it.
Golden Arrows! Remember that discussion about golden mob statues earlier in the thread? Mwahahahaha.
Freezing Arrows! C'mon, we want our ice mobs back!
Arrows of Zeus! Summon a bolt of lightning upon your target and any mobs within a 3-block radius... including yourself, if you aren't careful!
Intelligent Arrows! Made with a skull, it will search out the most powerful mob in range, except the shooter, and strike it. There should be an option to make it not strike players at all, but some people might want that option.
Firework Arrows! This one is obvious. And epic. You know it.
Bouncy Arrows! Like the piercing arrow, this one can hit multiple mobs, but it doesn't go through them; it reflects off of mobs and blocks it hits. Actually, this might be a good main effect for the Slime Arrow instead of a debuff.
Hungry Arrows! If it hits a player, it takes away hunger points instead of hearts as long as there is any hunger to take away.
Necrotic Arrows! With a visual lightning bolt back to the sender, it heals the sender the amount that the receiver is harmed.
Custom arrows would be too expensive for early game, so the focus should be taken away from them.
Let's just stick to basic metal-tipped arrows, that each do more damage, and let the enchanting to the bows.
You can't craft arrow heads with wood, stone, netherack, or diamonds.
Flint Arrows being the weakest.
Iron Arrows having "Recovery I" which gives a 1 in five chance of dropping even if it hits an enemy.
Golden Arrows being as weak as flint ones, but increase the efficiency of the enchantments on bows.
Obsidian Arrows having Recovery III, etc etc. You get the idea.
Some ideas for bow enchantments: Lapis would give looting, blaze power would give fiery, Diamond and Emerald would give durability. Here's some unique ones:
Nether Quartz, instead of increasing the strength of the arrow, gives it a piercing ability. One maxed unit of quartz can pierce through three enemies, uses 50, can stack. (With Golden Arrows, up to six.)
Eye of Ender makes arrows less susceptible to gravity, allowing them to farther and greatly improves aiming at long distances. Stacks up to 20, reducing arrow gravity to 25%, can only stack once. (With Golden Arrows, up to 12%)
One hundred(More or less to taste) enderpearls gives a chance to not consume ammo up until full blown-infinity. (For Flint Arrows. The more valuable or powerful the arrow is, the less effective this enchantment is on them. Gold being the least effective due to how potent they are as enchantment enhancers.)
Silky cloth reduces draw charge time. Can be stacked only once, needs 25 for full charge, reduces the draw speed to 50%. (Up to 100% with Golden Arrows. )
What's the best thing to sell to Normans so they gain your trust? The highest I've found is diamond chest piece. I'm hoping I can find something else. My first goal is to gain their trust, even before making a shelter. Any ideas?
Forestry and TConstruct aren't playing nice together
---- Minecraft Crash Report ----
// My bad.
Time: 5/22/13 9:36 AM
Description: Failed to start game
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Slot 4094 is already occupied by forestry.core.gadgets.BlockBase@7433866e when adding mods.tinker.tconstruct.blocks.MetalOre@62bedb5b
...
everything is updated to latest release, using magic launcher so the error test.bat just runs my vanilla minecraft - not the magiclauncher with all the mods i'm playing with, i can and will pastebin the entire crash report if you need me to.
also a silver arrow that will actually hit the enderman without him tp away would be pretty awesome

I believe you meant to post this in the Millenaire thread? TConstruct doesn't do anything with Millenaire villages...

You have a simple block ID conflict. Go into the configuration file of one or the other and adjust any block IDs that are the same -- definitely the one at 4094.
