Hello, just a quick word in case you were not aware of this: I went creative mode, Superflat and tried out Demeter but after a few moments a sapling spawned where the "er" piece was placed, breaking the statue.
Otherwise, this is an awesome mod and has made it to my must-have list along with Rei's Mini Map and Timber.
@ Sabrecho: Yeah, Demeter hates her feet, haven't yet figured out why. They seem like perfectly fine feet to me.
@ R4v3nh34rt: I think the mod should be roughly equivalent to a small bit of uncomplicated redstone circuitry, unless you make the spawn frequency ridiculously high. Each statue has a cooldown timer roughly in the range of (I think) 90 seconds to 4 minutes, depending on the composition of the statue. Jupiter pieces have a chance of decreasing it further. All this to say I don't believe there should really be that noticeable of a difference in lag, though there are a rare few that can cause momentary spikes and one which spawns endless copies of itself that will almost definitely crash your world if they make it to around eight clones.
@ paramecium13: I don't think I've read anything of his, barring the possibility of translating excerpts for homework. Any good? How's he compare to Aristophanes?
Wonderful mod! Haven't tried it out yet but just looking at it seems like a real cut above the rest! I do have a question though: do the statues spawn in random combinations or only as full sets?
Also, if you don't mind, here are some completely unsolicited thoughts and suggestions! Woo!
What if a statue always spawned in a villiage, especially as part of the 'church' building? Give those testificates something to worship!
Aesthetically, the statues' designs are kinda hit and miss, in my opinion. I love the more abstract ones (Mammon, Kakopelli, maybe Quetzalcoatl as well) but many of the more humanoid ones look very similar to each and indistinct. Jupiter and Poseidon's heads look like very subtle pallet swaps. Of course, this is just my opinion, but if you're interested I could sketch up a design or two
Regarding excess statue parts: Probably unfeasible, but perhaps it would be possible to simply craft, say, two or three pieces into another, completely random piece? Otherwise it'd end up feeling necessary to destroy perfectly cool statues simply to obtain whatever cool item you get from the process (see the 'celestial armour + tools comment above) Statues are cool, and obtaining one should be a reward unto itself!
@BlockyUniverse: You could always call him Amun-ra. Head = Am, torso = un, legs = -ra. Eg. Jupiter, Prometheus, Amun-ra would result in Jumeth-ra
Whew! That was a mouthful! Hope it was helpful in some way!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but:
Tzul the traveller:
(I4gottherealname): Teleport
The: random location
Traveller: Gods
Also, When I spawned In A new World, I found the enchanting god. I quickly made a chest and some wooden tools for enchanting. when a put the chest down, after a few seconds, a voxelton of sheep and wolves came raining down on my head. They Proceeded to kill each other. Then, a krapton of brewing stuff fell down. and all the while, random blocks were dissapearing. Like the statue's feet, the chest, the grass, etc.
My Questions are:
What's with the flash spawning?
What statue make potion stuffs?
WHY DOES EVERYTHING DISSAPEAR?!?!?!?
*I may note the only other mod I have installed is NEI.
Ideas for Statue Combos:
Ju-u-ite
Quet-aes-Traveller
And what's up with the Hephaestus look-alike (I assume he's the "Changer Of Ways") who places TNT traps everywhere?
If anyone could tell me the parts of the TNT statue I have nicknamed "The Trickster" it would be appreciated.
@Phantomad: I've been thinking that statues spawning in churches, those weird little doorless huts, or in the middle of the crops like a fertility god/scarecrow would be neat.
Yeah, the art isn't uniformly great. Some of them are duplicates because I was initially concerned that model complexity might be an issue and others because...I didn't have a clear inspiration or wasn't able to art them good. The skin files are actually easy to find in the .zip, so if you wanted to make some alternate skins, I'd happily link to your work/post. On my end, it might be a long while before I get back to the art.
With regards to the excess statues, I have an idea that I'm feeling out. Hopefully it's the best of both worlds: worth the unused pieces, but not all statues.
Oh, and statues spawn randomly assembled, but I'll bet you know that by now.
@minem4ster: Huh, that's an interesting experience. It sounds like the work of one or more statues along with the one you found.
@LightHades: The orientation bug is an issue of me using all available metadata to differentiate statue types, then realizing I had none left to account for orientation. So there's a dumb fix in there that works so long as you don't go too far from the statue itself. I will fix it in the next few updates.
What was the name of the statue with the bugged effect?
Nice mod, however there is a few bugs: statues faces one way after relog and spawn undergroung(not in the cave, just 2-3 block from the surface and sometimes completely buried, looks wierd)
@ 113820: Getting to it, as soon as I can. Will message you when I have an updated version.
@ Zxapa: The orientation bug I'm aware of, but as its essentially cosmetic I'll be working on it only after other, more pressing matters are taken care of. The burial issue, however, was completely intentional. If all statues were fully above the surface, it would take some of the challenge away from hunting them.
Cthulu... Instill in (for buffs, take at face, for items, add to inventory)

Also, some sort of generic scarecrow house god, that causes foes to be scared away.
Let's see, Andrew Carnegie would make a good god for railcraft,
Believe it or not, Jesus would be appropriate for thaumcraft, being a thaumaturge (according to definition) himself,
A Heliogabalus statue could provide constant, powerful light in a huge area, and power solar panels,
And I can't think what else.
What makes you think I was ever being reasonable? I'm sitting here with a pile of guns while wearing a flamethrower, and you thought that, at some point, I was being reasonable?

Im not against underground statues i dont like when they spawn incorrectly: with only head on the surface and completely buried without any sign of them. Its nice to find statues in caverns or in some deep forest canyon it adds adventure atmosphere, but not by quarry in a solid stone!
I dont want to sound rude but thats neat to say that something not a bug but a feature.
However the idea and statue building is very fun but statue placing...
I have just created an account to say that your mod has and horrible bug that destroy your world. If you place Quet The Traveller that starts to multiplicate and in about 15 secs you have more that 100 gods in your screen, Thats like a virus. Please fix this.
awsome mod. it makes playing in Voltz all the more fun. especially with the god statue set up of Quet-u-tus. awsome mod and am looking forward to seeing more gods.
It's also dangerous for server stability. Just had to clear up a server because a player decided to make a bunch of statues that generated 20k+ items...
Lol love this mod! One moment I am wandering around searching for a god statue, the next there's tnt spawned everywhere and I drop dirt in the traps and it reveals a statue! This mod is different, in a good way!
I have the idea for 3 more blocks for each statue u can use the greek or roman forms for the 3 new things like hephestus=vulcan demeter=ceres and afrodite=venus and jupeter = zues
Otherwise, this is an awesome mod and has made it to my must-have list along with Rei's Mini Map and Timber.
Who knows what classical play I am referencing? I'd give the first to give the correct answer a prize but all I have is cobwebs.
