What would you prefer? Magical Crops updated to 1.6/1.6.1 or me to work on updates for 1.5.2 since most mods are 1.5.2 and might take a while to update?

I would vote 1.5.2 because I am using a pack of mods for 1.5.2.

The best explorer in all of Minecraftia and an amateur thaumaturge at your service.
I am thinking if it isn't to time consuming, I will update Magical Crops to 1.6.1, but also any new additions will be added both to 1.6.1 and 1.5.2. Only if like I said isn't to time consuming.
Also my current to do list for next update is:
- Glass pane versions of essence glass
- Getting Mod compatibility working.
- Few bug fixes.
- Try get the Mystical Bow to not error on servers.

If you can, please concentrate on updating the 1.5.2 version before updating to 1.6. Most people play with many mods anyway, so we will take a while to update anyway.

Votes for 1.5.2 updates being priority. Too many of the "major" mods to update to 1.6.1 and who knows how long that will take... and if. Still waiting on Xycraft and RedPower for 1.5.2 which also may never happen :/ But supposedly Xycraft has been targeting 1.6 since before 1.5.
Ok I think I will be updating 1.5.2 until mods start updating to 1.6.1 and people are asking for it more often.
Something else I might start doing is a BETA release, I did something similar with the 2.0 update, every few things I change I will release a download for people to try it out and test it and give me feedback, while the normal and stable magical crops can be downloaded for people that wont to wait for more stability with the new additions.

if your watching Direwolf's let's play series forgecraft runs on 1.5.2 and they have xycraft but according to soaryn (direwolf's sidekick and developer) they are still bug testing it hence why its target is 1.6.x
- I vote for 1.5.2 first.
- Doing Betas is great!
- Mod compatibility: Would love to see the seeds being useful in e.g. Forestry for seed oil and in Minefactory Reloaded for bio fuel production or even to feed vanilla chickens
I have added a new block for Magical Crops 1.5.2 that will need testing, it isn't fully complete but WIP, will release a BETA soon.
The block is used to extract magic essence from items like Diamonds, coal, redstone and glowstone. This is useful for people that like the building blocks.

Thanks for the information.
Generally I try to get my information here, or on the website dedicated to the particular mod. They (all those wonderful mod makers) tend to spend more time developing and play testing (go figure) than actually updating info for the masses (which I find frustrating but understand). Tweets (for those who use them) are infrequent and somewhat cryptic to those of us that are not on the "inside". I was merely trying to lend some supportive reasoning to my vote for 1.5.2 development at this point, based on what I know. It is entirely possible that every major mod maker out there will release for 1.6.1 today and all my reasoning will prove faulty.

Please feel free to ignore this, as I know you are already busy with your mod concept.
Would there be any interest in a device that would input the various types of Magic Essence and automatically convert it to the next step up at the output once there is enough to do so? Leaving the crafting table recipes in, but just allowing a path to a more convenient way of doing it. Powered or unpowered not really concerned about that or even what the power source might be (as long as it is attainable reasonably LOL).

Great mod, using it in the Big Dig pack, slowly building up for those crazy expensive Diamond Seeds! Now all we need are Magic Seeds... (you know, crops that drop Weak Magic Essence when harvested?) Hunting down Zombie Farmers is not the easiest thing ever. Maybe I'll be able to do a soul shard for it. If not... dang. Also, perhaps a way to turn various essence into Magic Essence?

Look at my avatar. A few of you may know what this is from. Most will not. Probably because it shut down several years ago. But those were fun times while they lasted.

When you harvest the existing crops, on occasion weak magic essence drops with seeds and the crop. Might be a bit OP to add a specific crop for that. /shrug

Oh. I didn't know that. Thanks!

Ok big announcement, not 100% on this idea but I have the time. I have recently lost my job but this gives me loads of time to develop Magical Crops. I was thinking the code I am using is very old and from when I was first starting off coding, so I might re work all the code, to clean it up this will make it easier for me to add new features. Also I might divide up the mod a lot, but in clever sections e.g.:
Magical Crops: Main (Can be used on own) - All the normal Minecraft vanilla resource plants and features. Magical Crops: Farming (Can be used on own) - All the standard types of crops, food and seeds. Magical Crops: Elemental (Need main to use) - Add the elemental crops I have been talking about in thread, these will allow you to make even more vanilla resources. Magical Crops: Mod Crops (Need main to use) - Adds lots of mod compatible crops e.g. Copper, Tin, Silver, Lead etc. Magical Crops: Soul Crops (Need main to use) - Adds lots of soul crops like the current ones in the mod.
So basically you can pick and choose what ever addons you want to go with Magical Crops main. This will make each easier to update and for people that don't like certain aspects of MC they can get rid of them.

Two questions though. 1: Define mod compatibility? Ie, which mods will be in it? And 2: ...Any opinion on my previously mentioned ideas?

spendy in a way early in game but since your growing iron you can use 1 iron ingot and transmute them to 4 blocks of clay
