wow, your entire house sitting in the size of a single chunk, that'd be so claustrophobic.
this is the design i build personally, i'm thinking the different ceiling layout than i normally do is gonna bug me before long so that might get changed back to the usual way.
perfect layout as far as i'm concerned, i really shouldn't have done 19x19 next door, had to make an 8x9 to fit it to the grid, the best part is the way the 9x9's connect to each other, give it a really nice secure feel inside and the way the connecting parts are done lets you think the walls are much thicker than they actually are, the low connecting ceiling is intentional as well, it all adds up to feel like a nice perfectly OCD castle from the inside.
girlfriend hates them though honestly, but i couldn't live in anything else.

i keep making the same mistake, i think "oh, i've given them a few months, surely it'll be fixed by now" THAT is why i seem to ALWAYS be angry to some of you, my advice is to get the lead out.

It's just stained glass man, I think you might be overthinking that question
LOL, that was my first thought, but then I said "nah", must be some kind of energy storage crystal.
Very cool though. One of the better (maybe the best) ones I've seen.
Yes. The magtubes would be good going up and down though. You can use the whole height. I don't know why I am so obsessive on fitting in 1 chunk anyway, I play SP I can do whatever the hell I want, and chickenchunks....I'm not even sure what the max is, but it's big...really, really big....mindbogglingly....you get the picture.
An ideal base is cubish as far as getting around...a little more bias towards up and down I guess because at least you can walk to a ladder and freefall going down, and if you use arcane levitators, elevator rails, frames, whatever you can be really lazy (I don't know why but I really underutilize rails these days....I used to love minecraftaddicts minecart station in a box back when glitchboosters worked (ok, so I CAN sit through the odd video here and there)
The way I see it though, if the chunkloader fails for whatever reason then the base shouldnt break. I also figure people who play on other peoples servers might not be allowed a chunkloader or might be limited on how many chunks they can load so I try to make it useful for them too (or myself if I decide to try MP...granted this place isn't pvp safe....one of these days I will actually sit down and figure out how MFFS works.
Oh, also base can be bigger than the chunk, just not pipe and power network. So walls, outbuildings that aren't linked to the grid, tc3 golem tended fields around it, whatever you want. I can cram a lot of useable crap into 1 chunk but it is ugly as sin and I am bad about leaving enough space to make changes, which also makes troubleshooting a pain at times.
Almost forgot, thanks Michaelos, that short discussion we had about control system alternatives made me realize how much I was over-engineering it.
Yeah I seem to favor building skyscrapers over small things, but I honestly have this huge issue with making any house, because I always want them to be square yet not look like crap, (I think I've only ever built one square/rectangle for a house, I usually just throw up half built walls and all my stuff in a mess, but I mean every world I've ever played I never use the same design. (I'll link a imgur soon)
Little (very little) preview of the new base design. Just 3 screens of the breeder/grinder showing the IC2 power setup.
No how to build yet, and it assumes you looked at my old design (since it is just a refined version). http://imgur.com/a/rRtEG
It occurred to me that neither one of our setups use conduits. I think though that my design's will try to stick to cheaper materials.(I.e. my avoidance of bluetricity, and the price between LP and RP anyway.)
9x9, *yawn*, I'm not a big DW20 fan either. Listen to your girlfriend

Yeah anyone with claustrophobia would not want to go in any of my 1.1 builds. I didn't learn to build three high ceilings until 1.2.5 :). Anyways I do build modular house but their "tech domes". I really like the look of a well done modular house, but the conformity of cube after 9x9 cube can be unbearable, the only place it works for is for adventure maps like the one I'm planning. (note to self don't make fancy conveyor belt jumps, ever, especially not in the lava filled area.)
PS. If you wan't the screenshot again, please tell me, i'll send it instead. My server get's totally spammed because of traffic on the forum.. Damn Python
Edit: If i have 1 block of space between the fishers, then the console spam completely stops
Well that's even weirder. It's probably that you broke and replaced them, really, they must be like 3 power from max and think they want power when they don't.

Oh, I still have plenty of conduit, no getting around it since I use TE heavily, and of course being LP based an assembly table and lasers are a must. If you don't use the sawmill, making charcoal is more efficient than burning planks, so it is doable without TE, but I use TE heavily anyway.
i've tried making other sorts of buildings to live in in MC, one of two things happens.
1. i get lost inside of it
2. i get annoyed by something being asymmetrical and tear it down and spend the entire day fixing it.
yes, that ladder is taunting me.
and yeah i totally did over think that, just wasn't expecting MFR to add colored glass i guess.
also i do have other reasons for building 9x9s besides just liking them, someone mentioned it above, but they're nicely modular, at some point i really need to figure out making an omnidirectional frame 9x9, i honestly probably should have done that two world resets ago, had 4 way movement going there from one of dire's designs which was surprisingly difficult to copy, but yeah that's the other reason it's a good size to just pickup and fly off with one of the houses with.

On a server I ran for friends way back when, we had a single redstone fisher. It made so much fish that fish became an un-currency, where you would pay people by taking fish off their hands.
Huh, that's actually something I hadn't considered. I'll schedule it for a future release, 2.2 probably. What would be useful?
I think we can already detect if the internal tank is full (not positive). But heres what I think would be useful: Energy Full, Is Idle, Has Resources. That pretty much covers each bar in the gui.

I haven't tested, since shutting the pipe off seems to be the most efficient thing when using LP, but I would think the other related states as well; so besides energy full, has/empty/has room, same for tank/inventory and I guess has work would be the other part of idle? I could see myself using combinations of most of them if I wasn't using a logistics system.
Speaking of gates, how hard would it be to make any gate work with any color pipewire? Having to make a diamond gate just so you can use whichever color you want has always irked the out of me.
Ok so the "universal charger" meant to be part of PC 2.1 is going to wind up being IC2-only instead of supporting UE too because UE's API is so messed up that I literally cannot figure out the correct sequence of method calls without nonsense results like batteries returning more power left over than I put into them. If somebody thinks they can fix the stupid thing they're more than welcome to send me a PR (the class is on GitHub, ChargeHandlerUniversalElectricity, it's just not used) but otherwise that functionality's out. Shame. I might try to make it able to charge TE redstone cells in inventories instead, we'll see.
Also the rest of the issues have been shaken out, I believe, so expect that out tomorrow finally. You will need to break and re-place any IC2/UE producers and consumers affected by chunk loaders after upgrading which I will reiterate in the OP at the time, due to the fix for that bug everybody's been posting.
those checks for gates sound good to me btw, maybe one for if sludge is full too on the machines that do that.
as for modding the gates, i kind of agree, but by the time i'm looking to make a lot of gates and pipe wire and needing more than just the red color wire i can afford the diamond gates typically so it really isn't usually a problem for me.

I'm looking forward to the oil fabricator again, though the Magma Crucible pretty much covers lava fabrication.
I hope the water strainer can do actual hydropower, though. That's one thing I wish the various Forge mods had - an actual hydroelectric power system, versus having to manually fill a generator with buckets.

Lack of hydroelectric is probably due to a complete lack of water physics. I'd love to have an actual water wheel or a dam. Pumping water into a block isn't the most interesting power system.

Nice what mod is that to be for, MFR? does it need a special machine to make it?
Are you sure your not underthinking it?

Yes, MFR. The dyes are clay based to encourage you to use sludge boilers, but otherwise it's just normal crafting.

Wow! That's an expensive way to generate scrap. Give the man an igneous extruder!
