I've been trying to get coupling locos to work. I've done it once, but not again. I put two locomotives together, like it says, put fuel in, set one to be pulled and go in the pulling train. However, when I press W it goes backwards!It also won't reverse.EDIT: Turns out locos have to be attached to eachother, and the way you couple them matters. Still dunno about reversing.EDIT2: Hmm, after attaching cars they now go backwards.. ugh.EDIT3: It's not just Locos, it's cars. Hm.EDIT4: It seems like the high-speed locomotive has corrupted on me, it won't go forwards even on its own
EDIT5: Well. Turns out, the direction your looking in it will go that way. oh.

Dunno if this'll work for you, but what I do is I rename the config file to a .txt file, rename the ID's, and then rename it again to a .cfg file.

I've been having some slight issues, they seem to be bugs. I'm sure that I've already mentioned the Fuel issue, but I've found some others. I've noticed that the duplication isn't occurring anymore (for me, at least), thank you.
Here they are.
When I'm in the SD-70 ACe, after building in survival, and operating for a while, i'm now taking suffocation damage when inside the locomotive and it has been traveling over 25 KM/H. (Once I stop the locomotive and destroy and re-place it, it doesn't damage me, but if I don't do that, it will). It was painted yellow when this was happening, I painted it red, and it's still happening. Also, since the SD-70 is a diesel-electric locomotive, I think it would be more fuel efficient than the V60, but it isn't. This seemed to have started after going up 2 consecutive meters while going forward. When this happened, I would take only 1/2 of a heart of damage.
The fuel canisters do not come back empty when pouring them into a Railcraft Iron tank or a Tank Car(t). Instead, they just disappear.
Also, right-clicking on an RC Iron tank with empty fuel canisters just makes them disappear. They won't fill up with fuel, they just go away, unless you open up the GUI.

I do not understand why this mod is not getting updated anymore considering it is full of bugs and just so glitchy to the point it is unplayable . It is so goofy and durpy looking to see the trains when they get to a turn and to see them floating over the ground and not the track . To fix the problem the author could have made custom wider tracks and longer turns that where not instant turns like the tracks already included in mine craft . Default tracks work nice with just mine carts but not long ass trains like in this mod .
Don't get me wrong I love this mod to pieces all the train models are nice and all and I really just wished this mod was not so durpy but its to the point I had to remove it from my mod pack and just keep steves carts and railcraft if this mod was made like the rails of war mod with the long wide turns it would possibly be one of the coolest mods in mine craft.
I am working on a complete rewrite of this mod with complete custom tracks and all just for personal use and it will be a while before I am done with it. I am working right now on updating web displays mod to 64 bit since the author is taking ages I took it on my own to update it . I get sick of mod authors taking ages to release a update to fix bugs to make it better , so from now on ill grab the mods I think need work such as this and ill fix it myself.
Anyhow I will be done with the web displays mod in a few days and then I'm going to start work on this . I am going to be using just a little of the code from this mod and just a few of the textures but otherwise it will be a complete rewrite of this just better all the way around and I will have it in my private mod pack that only 50 or so players use on my server.

As MrBrutal has stated in his blog before, there is absolutely no intention of making larger tracks, because of a complete rewrite of the code and doing so would make it incompatible with RC and BC. If you want bigger turns, I suggest just making 45 degree turns, because CovertJaguar refuses to make any other kinds of turns, despite the 1000's of requests.
Does anyone know if/how the composite armor is able to be repaired on an anvil? And, if so ... what material needs to be used. (Yes, I know one can take two damaged items and merge them together, that is not what I am asking).
Also, the description says it is paintable. That is another aspect about the armor I have not been able to figure out.

And man when we are done I will be happy to let you inspect it I was not trying to fight man. Our mod will be open source and maybe you can get a few ideas from this I don't care what anyone does to it . I believe all mods should be open source ! Other wise it hurts the modding community.
This mod will be very similar to this in that it will have a lot of trains like this but it will be a huge difference in it such as wider tracks and wider trains and much less sharper turns will not use vanilla minecraft tracks and will be for 1.7.2 . I have 3 people working on the textures and 5 on the code . I got it started last night . Stayed up until 4 am.
Might I ask why you're so strict with your license? All it's doing is getting rid of people who would be willingly advertising it for free by saying "Modpack contains Traincraft" with a link to the website/forum page.

so if the central station is from the east,so we had to go through the 180 degree track to turn back.
Is there any possibilities to rotate the locomotive? Me and my younger bro just started playing with traincraft couple of weeks ago and we really like it, so we've made villages with stations connecting His(my younger bro's base) station or hq with the station of the villagers with a long rail tracks, we suppose to have a 2 way track but it's pretty hard and little buggy if the locomotives take a 180 degree turn with a short track. So we had to make this at the end of the station.
Or could you couple 2 engine in one train set so it could go opposite directions without the train doing insanely fast reverse motion. Anywho, I would post some pics if i could manage to open my main email to open a long forgotten imgur account, or i'll make a new one.

If you couple an engine to each end of the train, fuel both, and set one to be able to be pulled, then yes, it is possible to make the train go in both directions.
