ok..for anyone who is experiencing the vanishing aura and nodes I figured out how to fix it (at least im pretty sure i did)
open minecraft config folder
open the thaumcraft file (its a CFG file - it'll open in notepad)
way at the bottom under world_regeneration you need to change aura_nodes to true and change the regen_key word from default to something else - any word should do (as stated by the op)
I did this and my nodes as far as I can tell have respawned and my goggles now show me the aura in the air like they should. I haven't yet tested out my furnace or my wand cause I'm too sleepy atm and am about to go to bed.
i may just be too sleepy to be able to properly read the OP post about this issue but I hope this makes it more clear as to what to do for those who, for whatever reason, don't understand what the OP is talking about.
happy mining!

Yo dawg, I heard you liked mining diamonds with diamonds so we put diamonds in your mine so you can mine with your diamonds while you mine your diamonds.
*Slaps with the back of her hand.*
A. Azanor is not here, he is on a well deserved vacation and won't be back for a while.
B. 1.4.6 has only been out for less then 48 hours.
3. Requesting Updates is against the Forum Rules. o-o
In fact, I don't understand why someone would want to play RP2 along side TC3 (if not at all).
But hey, it's too easy to troll a redundant mod so I'll stop here.
Sub blocks and the wiring. I can't even use normal redstone anymore after playing RP2 back in 1.2.5 with Thaumcraft.
Plus, I used the bluelectric furnaces for items I wasn't super concerned about getting duplicates of to save Vis and fuel in the Arcane Furnace, but with the Infernal Furnace, I'll probably just use RP2 for basalt, marble and sub blocks. I used pipes a bit too, but not much. Dunno if I'll use them with the golems.
But of course, Elo only releases RP2 1.4.6 despite there being a 1.4.5 version and unfortunately at the same time, Azanor isn't available to update...
I was never a big fan of the industrialization mods. It always felt like a constant grind to get to the next machine that would only destroy your minecraft world faster. But that's just me. I've always been more for the RPG/magic mods that were more fantasy.
Actually, I can think of one industrial mod I really do like, ICBM craft. But that's just my evil side.
ah the pastries, how long has it been since we last needed to break those out?
I'm not too big on RP2, the only things it adds that are unique among forge mods are the simplified redstone, frames, and the sub blocks, and I'm at least competent with redstone, frames are useful, but not a deal maker, and aesthetics aren't a big deal for me.
everything else can be accomplished by golems, in a much more adorable way
blutric furnace? arcane furnace
tubes? golems
computers? why the hell would I ever need that? (and also golems pressure plates, note blocks, and arcane ears, goooo steampunk magitek computers )
Frames? Huge flying bases? Also, comparing golems and computers is really... weird.

Marble and Basalt, the gems, the lamps, etc. RP is way more than just Redstone stuff.
But the issue lies in when automation is able to get ALL of your resources for you, easily renewable things (like wheat, sugar cane and the like) I have no issue making an automatic factory for, but the rare things (like diamond and gold) I enjoy having to go out and find them, it adds value, and when I install a lot of mods at once, I do so with the expectation of being entertained for a long time, and being forced into tough decisions (do I spend this diamond on mod X or mod Y?). So while I see your opinion, it is just that, an opinion, mine is different.
I agree with you there, I don't really want diamonds handed to me, I just want to make it so I don't have to completely halt my magical research into building a wand that shoots lightning because I ran out of sticks.

Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable. If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME. Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice.
@Azanor
I think you overlooked a few items when assigning Aspects, .... namely Forestry Apatite..? If you're doing IC2 rubber, why not a little love for Forestry?
More like not every mod will have their items assigned aspects. I've got a bunch of metals from Metallurgy that don't have anything to them, after all, and, unless he comes up with a way for TC3 to autodetect new ores added by mods, chances are there's gonna be a lot of things without 'em, too.

Ask either Veovis or XCompWiz. Mystcraft has a way to pseudo-detect ores via the ore dictionary.
TC3 could do the same thing.
(From what I understand, it simply polls the dictionary for anything with "ore", "dust", or "gem" in the name; I think it does something similar for wood.)

Azanor mentioned putting a TC3 API out at some point, so that other mods can assign their own aspects to their items.
Given the amount of other mods out there, and the distinct lack of a similar amount of Azanor's, I can see why he might not have time for doing the aspects for all other mods.
I'm sure it will all come with time though. I'll venture a guess that he is more focussed on adding content to his mod before doing too much cross-mod compatibility.

People just can't stay away from me... but that is because I'm so fat I have my own gravitational field.
It's the flying cutlery that stresses me out.
azanor, any plans about updating tc3 to 1.4.6 before christmas? just wondering since eloraam might release the 1.4.5 copy of rp2 if most modders skip 1.4.6/delay 1.4.6

Doubt we see that, only reason she would do that is if mods didn't update timely and we have a lot of mods out now. IC2 is done but not out, BC is out, TE is done but not out until King gets online, and a lot of support mods are out. Just missing a couple big ones such as TC3 and Railcraft but everytime I look more and more are out.
The point is, I already have a working world and mod list for 1.4.5, all I need is RP2. RP2 exists for 1.4.5, she just needs to release it.
For 1.4.6 to work I need to wait for 38 other mods all to update. Many of the mod authors are either on vacation for weeks or don't communicate updates.
So, if Elo releases 1.4.5 I could spend my holiday happily playing Minecraft like I want with my friends and making awesome things then upgrade to 1.4.6 after everything is stable. Or, I keep playing half of what I want to do without all the new features because an existing mod wasn't released. That kinda really sucks.
He could (but off course not forced to), make a auto detect and assing aspect reading "the tier" of the raw material and finished goods. If are ore (add the common ore aspects plus a fixed modification if he is common or rare).
Also exist a ore library? for Forge based mods, then again, Az is not forced to do this, because maybe it could lead to exploits.
About old TC stuff, I my favorites where the farming and defense seals, and the old Crucible of Souls, I just hate how wisp swarm my base and zap my butt all day >: (

To be honest?
Not really.
The only thing I find interesting is IC2 Uranium Ore (the block) has aspects, while Uranium itself does not.
Azanor mentioned putting a TC3 API out at some point, so that other mods can assign their own aspects to their items.

TC3 1.4.6 won't add anything we don't already have. RP2 1.4.5/6 drastically changes everything.
